Our comment from FitFit Australia about Noarlunga Aquatic and Recreation Centre:
Noarlunga Aquatic and Recreation Centre is a fantastic facility located in Australia, well-regarded for its array of offerings suited for families and individuals alike. Many visitors praise the friendly staff and helpful instructors, especially for swimming lessons, which have received numerous accolades, particularly from parents of children who are initially reluctant to swim.
Users appreciate the great environment for all ages, featuring spacious pools, a gym, a sauna, and even options for lap swimming. The centre provides opportunities for fun and relaxation.
Highlights from reviews include:
- Great facility for lap swimming and kids' lessons.
- A variety of classes and recreational options.
- Convenient access for those with mobility challenges.
- Affordable pricing and good value for swimming lessons.
Despite the many positive aspects, some users have expressed concerns regarding customer service issues and the need for upgrades to certain facilities, including the sauna and changing rooms, which could benefit from improved cleanliness and ventilation. Moreover, a few lifeguards reportedly exhibited unprofessional behavior at times, which detracted from the overall experience.
Overall, Noarlunga Aquatic and Recreation Centre is an excellent choice for families seeking a welcoming and engaging environment for swimming and recreation, highlighted by its dedicated staff and well-equipped facilities.
Noarlunga Aquatic and Recreation Centre: Opinions
Fantastic experience: We moved here from another pool. Our reluctant swimmer has come so far in a short period. Staff are so good, really can't thank them all enough.
Negative experience: The life guards at this centre need to remember they are exactly that. (Life Guards) not police. The life guard on duty Friday 22/11/24 between 1pm and 4pm. Yealled at my daughter-in-law due to playing with her two children one is 4 one is 7. She was playing with her 4 year old and turned to the 7 year as her eyes were burning, and the life guard yelled at her to keep her eyes on her 4 year old who is under 5 and needs to be supervised at all times. The 4 year old was standing right next to my daughter in-law right where she could not only see him but arms reach. My Daughter-in-law made it very clear to him she could see her son he was right next to her. But this life guard didnt stop there he less than 10 minutes later Screamed at my friends Autistic 4 year old child for climbing on the dragon or dinosaur whatever it is in the pool. He screamed at her to the point of her being inconsolable and us leaving the pool. Children are attracted to these types of items if you dont want them playing on them, then dont have them there and remove them. Because children are children. Learn to speak to children, and also be educated that all children are different and have special needs, and simply dont understand you screaming at them or even that they have done anything wrong. They are there trying to have some fun.I understand pool safety and keeping people safe. However there is a way of doing it and this is not the way. We were there as 3 families 6 children in total and a rare fun time out for our families was spoilt by one over the top life guard.
Negative experience: Look, not a great experience. The water was cold. Staff were rude. Won't be coming back
Fantastic experience: Great pool area for all ages. Very helpful and patient instructors with the school children.
Negative experience: Staff and life guards will not attend to your child properly. Do not take your kids here they will drown
Fantastic experience: One of the best swimming centres in Adelaide. Provides swimming lessons, lap swimming, school holiday swimming lessons and lifeguards. Has baby pool, access ramp for wheelchair, sauna and spa along with generous sized pools. Food and drinks are also available.
Negative experience: No great. Poor water temperature, messy changing rooms and rude staff. Better options around
Fantastic experience: The pool and gym are great places to work out and relax. Highly recommended.
Fantastic experience: Have been going there for more than two years in the last 6 months the swimming school and the place have improved significantly! thanks to the new program supervisor Eyerus and the great instructor Rylee
Positive experience: Basketball courts need upgrading
Fantastic experience: Our boys go every Saturday morning. It's spacious but not crowded as Marion Aquatic centre. Parking are available even it's bit tight but good enough.
Negative experience: Should be called Noarlunga Acrtic centre. Took our baby here initially for swimming lessons but it was freezing, yes it was during winter. Made complaints to reception about how cold the water was but was told that they can’t do anything about it. So we left and went to state swim and haven’t looked back. The water is much warmer and baby and toddler friendly at state swim.
Positive experience: Had a great time relaxing in the spa and steam room the staff are super friendly and helpful whenever you need assistance with anything. The food is meh it's decent not exactly healthy or yummy overall but stil that dosent matter it's still worth a trip
Positive experience: Strength for life
Fantastic experience: Great pool to take my kids to
Fantastic experience: It's old (1991) but it's a nice place for lap swimming or for the kids to play. Always parking. Staff nice. Change rooms renovated recently.
Fantastic experience: Love the 90s feel kids loved it.
Negative experience: Some staff are rude, cleanliness is questionable, no hot food, only minimal snacks, signs clearly state lane closed for hydro or for lane swimming yet community ignore and so do the workers, disability people have been splashed and nearly drowned due this!! If an area is closed off for a session MAKE SURE ONLY THOSE PEOPLE ELIGIBLE GO IN THESE SECTIONS ITS SAFETY!!!
Fantastic experience: Sauna, weights and swimming.
Fantastic experience: We took the grandchildren here and they love it...their mum and dad also bring them here on a regular basis, can buy drinks and snacks for them at a reasonable price
Fantastic experience: Carly is the most amazing aqua instructor Her sessions are fun, happy and energetic and her infectious personality flows through to us and creates lots of singing and we all feel uplifted after her sessions ❤️ Please can she do more classes
Fantastic experience: Always kind staff Always have fun here.
Fantastic experience: Fabulous instructor Rosemary here for us and price is very affordable
Positive experience: Hard to get a lane and sauna is never cleaned unless the members do it.
Negative experience: Horrible customer service, very rude staff and life guards.. will not be attending this run down facility again.
Positive experience: Nice aquatic centre and local.. bit run down and could do with some upgrades.. does get busy at times especially school holidays and swimming lessons for kids during school times but always quiet times during daytime.to come.and relax or do some rehab
Fantastic experience: The children had loads of fun
Fantastic experience: Great place to take the kids to wear them out
Fantastic experience: Great swimming setup for all ages
Positive experience: Good place to take the family
Negative experience: A rather outdated pool that could really do with a refresh. Ok for smaller kids but a little boring for the slightly older kids.
Fantastic experience: Good aquatic center in Adelaide South.
Fantastic experience: Came here for the night roller skating (an incredibly good deal of 9 dollars for 3 hours of skating which includes provided skates). The customer service was by the loveliest ladies; we had such a fantastic time there.
Positive experience: Family fun! Great lifeguards
Fantastic experience: Cool environment with friendly staff
Negative experience: Went into enquiry about swimming lessons for my 7 year old the rude women chewing her gum (very loudly) told me it's all on the net now. No help what so ever! Just told me to google everything. Well shame on you. I put him in Stateswim.
Fantastic experience: My grandaughter, who is 4 years old, has weekly swimming lessons. Excellent swimming instructor and fantastic facilities
Fantastic experience: l enjoy the pool and facilities .l had surgery lately l swim for rehabilitation. but this place is great for the family fun.
Positive experience: Bit run down facilities but nice place
Fantastic experience: First , thou ravished my wife , " And sithen reft my men their life . " Therefore have I taken counsayl " Between us two to hold batayl . - " And if thou slay me , by Termagaunt , " I give thee the londe of Mounbraunt ; "
Fantastic experience: You can access the main pools via ramp and a gate from the shallow pools. This is important for anyone having difficulties using the special steps near the rehab area.
Fantastic experience: Great for the kids and lap swimming.
Negative experience: NO LOCKERS TO KEEP YOUR BELONGINGS SAFE WHILE YOU SWIM !!!!
Positive experience: Could do with an update, been mostly the same ever since I was younger. Kids enjoy it though.
Positive experience: Took niece for a swim. She enjoyed herself. Too many there to enjoy a swim.
Positive experience: Clean and nice facility that's showing a bit of age but still good.
Positive experience: Great staff and fantastic kids swimming lessons. I’ve not used many of the facilities but the ones I have, have been very good.
Fantastic experience: Clean aquatic centre. Chlorine smell not so over powering
Positive experience: The spa was out of action for 3 days or more. The pool is old and a few floor tiles are lifting in the pool
Fantastic experience: What a great facility. Staff friendly and informative. Have returned to swimming and spa after a long " forced" break. Looking forward to Gym soon. Geoff F
Negative experience: The only positive is it is the closest pool for me. There are so many negatives. Pool dirty with bugs, bandaids and other random bits. The spa was never cleaned my whole time in being a member. It's a shame as this pool used to be great.
Positive experience: Great for families. Nice sized pool, Shame the changing rooms are so cold though.
Positive experience: Friendly staff. Always helpful. Classes are usually not too full. I am giving the review 3 stars, because I witnessed a cockroach run past my foot in the sauna.
Positive experience: My client comes here for physio every fortnight. The pool is always nice ,warm and inviting for a person with disabilities. Today the physiotherapist & my client said it was freezing. Please turn the heat back on.
Positive experience: Great aquatic instructors for kids who are afraid of the water. Our son in in year 2 and previous years has not want to attend the school swimming program; this year he's giving it a try.
Positive experience: Pros: Swimming pool Multi use area (I specifically went roller skating) (Pool) Pros: It's huge so space for everyone to swim They run classes and have play equipment Easy parking and friendly staff and not expensive to go for a casual swim Cons: Spending in when you go you might find there's lots of classes on or lane swimming in place and if it's busy it may limit how much area you have to swim and play in but honestly, this shouldn't be a huge issue (Skating rink) pros: Cool music Skate hire is cheap as! Lots of friendly folks to skate with Games like skating limbo on Saturdays Various classes avail Begginers and intermediates welcome Rails to hold onto Almost the whole way around Snack shop Seating area to sit and watch if you don't want to skate Cons: As someone who apparently can no longer rollerskate as an adult, the breaks in the rails to hold onto around the rink was... Stressful haha The hire shoes sizing is a bit odd so might take a few goes to get em right. As you are skating alongside begginers and intermediates, it can be a lil confronting when you suck, or have to Cross areas without rails The open hrs for skating are fairly sporadic, and only on certain days so mightnt suit everyone's schedules You will be very sore the next day even if you don't fall over (I did haha) it's a full core workout that's for sure! Overall though, a great few hrs out for all ages and a great laugh, would recommend!
Fantastic experience: Great atmosphere..great staff..
Positive experience: Sauna breaks down too often, otherwise this place is exceptionally good. When they remodeled recently they should have put in another sauna so that when one isn't working there is still one that can be used.
Positive experience: To the family here for some leisure swim. Great price
Fantastic experience: Can't complain, great place to swim
Negative experience: Very very disappointed with the women behind the counter this morning, finding her mannerism very RUDE! Which made my reaction rude back..two wrongs don't make it right and if that woman wasn't so RUDE, I would not of been either..
Fantastic experience: Used to come here throughout my high school years with friends as we had so much fun, as it probably has changed since I was last there, as I wouldn't mind coming back and see if there is new changes As the water was perfect when I was there, the staff are friendly and always kept clean and tidy too
Fantastic experience: Great place to use gym swim and has great spa and sauna facilities
Negative experience: i was paying up front in cash until recently, when the superviser informed me that the staff was not supposed to accept cash payments for membership and even though i had the cash in my hand to pay my next months membership up front she would not accept it and said the only way i could continue my membership was to go online and pay online or i could not enter as a member. i can pay in cash to enter casualy so they do accept cash when it suits them. On principal i will not be a member as i believe paying in cash is a right and we should all try to protect our freedom of choise.
Positive experience: Found a dead spider at the bottom of the pool but other than that it’s a big pool and is warm like they should be
Fantastic experience: I am a new member at the Noarlung Swimming centre, Great for value, I never new Swimming can be so rewarding for you self-esteem
Fantastic experience: Great facility, well priced. No meatheads.
Fantastic experience: My Son enjoyed so Much. Thanks
Fantastic experience: Friendly staff nice warm water
Positive experience: Not enough, if any, ventilation considering covid but otherwise no problems
Fantastic experience: We love taking our granddaughter to little athletics What a great facility
Fantastic experience: For swimming lessons I recommend going here $17.50 a lesson no membership it's amazing the lady's are amazing pools are really maintained life gards are here.. this place is amazing
Positive experience: Currently under some renovations and the pool itself is the same as it was when I was a kid 28yrs ago and getting outdated. However it is perfect to take my children to i order to learn and good value for money
Fantastic experience: Came here as a kid in the 90s. Take my little girl here now for swimming lessons. Place has barely changed and I like it that way.
Positive experience: Nice centre with plenty of lanes for all fitness, only downside was cafe closes early.
Positive experience: Great place to keep fit
Positive experience: Pool and staff are very good. Only one really big thing that disappointed me on 4/1/22 i was in the mens changing rooms when a woman cleaner walked in..5 seconds after i got my boxers on. I am sure if a guy walked into the womens changibg room all hell would break loose.
Positive experience: Friendly staff and good facilities, all doing the best they can to keep everyone as safe as possible particularly with the current plague going on.
Positive experience: Pool design is smart. There's the option for a 50m lap pool if need be, but usually the 25m section is all that's designated for lap swimming. Water quality is generally very good. Decor is old and dated, but with new change rooms on the way, hopefully the centre will be having a makeover. Would like to see a decent swimmer's shop with bathers, googles, equipment, etc, other than what they just have behind the counter. Nice place, but nothing too special.
Positive experience: Great place to learn how to swim, with gym and an upstairs function area on site. Current renovated Wet Areas under construction.
Positive experience: It is in the process of of a few changes structurally inside. A top venue for a birthday party.
Negative experience: So old and worn down, bare concrete flooring as the non slip surface was ripped up yrs ago, no air ventilation, had a window open a bit and staff came up slammed window shut and said it has to be closed, asked why and told swimmer's get cold, yet spectators have to pay entry and to wear a mask but not allowed a tiny breeze but watch on as 3 boys constantly bombing in pool for a good 20+ min with no issue
Fantastic experience: Fun for kids!!
Negative experience: I bring my 3.granddaughters aged 7 10 and 12 to the noarunga pool every 2nd Sunday. Today may be the last time because there was a teenager who is autistic which of.course I am not against. However he.has never been more than a yard away from the girls so I approached the life guard and asked him to please speak to the boy but all I got was a mouthfuls saying that he hasn't noticed it I let the lifeguard know and I turned to walk away.and he mouthed off at me!!!!
Fantastic experience: Oh, so lovely place, took my kid for fun day during school holidays, and he had a ball very affordable but packed with gems for kiddos!
Fantastic experience: 1 2 3 go is great for the grand kids they love it
Fantastic experience: The kids couldn't wait to get in the water. Seating, and tables for parents , bonus.and some inflatable thingy that the kids wouldn't get off.
Fantastic experience: Noarlunga Swimming Centre is a great place for children to learn swimming. The instructor Rhiannon is amazing and my niece loves her. Unfortunately living so far away we’ve had to move my niece to another swim centre. Otherwise I’d have kept her here.
Negative experience: Customer service needs a lot to be desired since the council has taken over some of the people are lovely but rang up after losing my sun glasses and goggles no one could be bothered having a look I had to go back to find them myself. most of the lifeguards are fantastic however there are a few that really seam to have no idea and I would not want to see a big person have any problems, as there would be no way they would be getting helped out
Fantastic experience: Staff are lovely and friendly Very nice facilities and now that it's been updated it's a lot bigger in the change rooms
Fantastic experience: Chris went above and beyond to help us organise my son's party. Was a great expierience!
Positive experience: Had a awesome pool and spa sauna in south area Need to have it cafe reopen and lockers to come back and bit of upgrade would awesome as well too
Negative experience: The manager discontinued my sons membership due to 2 missed swimming lessons without any communication. When I arrived at centre, I found out and tried to organise another spot working around schedules. The manager spoke out of term with my separation due to DV. He mentioned “I don’t know how women can be in a relationship for so long, then hate the guy when the leave” He was unprofessional and I do not recommend going there while he is in charge.
Positive experience: I love this place. I'm becoming a regular and yesterday I took 2 of my grandchildren. We'll be happy when your kiosk opens again. Love it. Couple of points. There was no soap in the ladies hand washing area and the dryer is set too cool to effectively dry.hands. otherwise, well done. Oh and nice friendly service by staff.
Positive experience: Ok not bad spa pool a bit small need larger one thre for the population .
Fantastic experience: Fantastic day with my son Jackson bond and grandson Chase
Positive experience: Not a bad swimming centre for children. I had a few issues with misinformation as opening times were incorrectly posted on the website and the council struggled to tell me what was going on during a maintenance shutdown. I ended up wasting a fair bit of time and my 4yo boy was really unhappy about being turned away. Male showers had a ridiculous and totally unnecessary renovation about a year ago removing a bench in front of showers.
Fantastic experience: Far out I haven't been there since 7 and Still hasn't changed loved it
Fantastic experience: Always a pleasant place to visit and the staff are always welcoming and friendly
Fantastic experience: Friendly and professional staff a pleasure to use facility thankyou
