Fantastic experience: Fantastic staff and trainers, especially Sharan, very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. The sales team could maybe go a little easier on more hesitant people thinking of signing up (I think being too pushy can scares people away), but I get they are just doing their job, plus they do a great job of showing off the gym+classes.

Positive experience: Finally have the chance to leave a review.I’d love to give this gym 5 stars as I used to go here for awhile. A few things we have been promised for a free pt session on signing up- never happened even when followed up. I also used to attend pilates here - as the studio became very busy it also became really dirty if you look under the pilates machines you can see how filthy it is and sometimes equipment is not distributed properly across all machines. To add: when I was pregnant (as they will ask if anyone needed modifications) not all instructors are friendly and or know what to do. So then I stopped going. Shout out to the instructors who were amazing for us pregnant women who atteneded pilates : steph, natalie and mandy were always amazing!

Fantastic experience: Love the gym & the Pilates classes, had to take a step back from training due to injuries. On the phone Shree was incredibly helpful, understanding & genuine. 10/10 best customer service I’ve ever had. Daniel was also really helpful & kind. Can’t wait to get back into training at One Playground!

Negative experience: Average gym, no parking at all - have to do 10 laps in the carpark and on the street and end up leaving sometimes. So busy at all times and staff don’t seem to care about member retention simply just recruiting new members. Zero gym etiquette, members will leave towels on machines to use another one? PTs and trainers often jump in your set mid workout to prioritise their clients even when you are doing a quick set. Do a lot to draw you in and then you’re just a number when you sign up.

Negative experience: My wife goes this gym .She actually loves it.She does not drive,but i drive her almost every weekends.And i go sit at downstairs waiting area.When stuff members see me that they keep asking me what im doing there? It happens offen.Today i was there ans waitimg for my wife and i was on the phone , she came to me and asked me what im doing there .I was talking with my friend on the phone but i had to cut it cause of this girl.I was upset and asked her that why you guys keep coming and asking me that what im doing here? I even help their new customer that when they can not find the main office while im sitting there!!! Their stuff have zero customer service knowledge and i found out that some of them have bad attitude !!! If i was gonna join this gym i would never now. I HOPE SOMEONE WOULD TAKE THIS SERIOUS AND TEACH THEM THAT HOW TO TREAT TO PEOPLE CAUSE THEY DO NOT KNOW.

Fantastic experience: Been going to One Playground for about a year now. Love the vibe and equipment. Today some idiot accidentally locked my locker with this password and walked away. A gym trainer (don't know his name) was so kind that he looked into this matter, opened one of the lockers which we suspect is the one where I kept my bag in. Bang on. Sorted my problem. Thank you One Playground!

Fantastic experience: I’ve been training at this gym for the past five months, and it has been a wonderful experience. The place is always clean, the staff is very attentive, and I can easily choose my Pilates classes. Additionally, there’s a great variety of classes, so you definitely have plenty of options to train here.

Fantastic experience: Loving being a member at one playground at the moment. It seems like they have everything you need all under one membership which very affordable. The classes are great, my favourite atm is athletica fit…it’s a good sweat sesh, also tried pilates and a few other cardio style classes are all really good and satisfying. I usually go to one playground in Newtown they have good weight machines and free weights as well. I’ve also tried the club in merrickville which feels a lot busier but they also have a great set up. Can’t wait to try Surry hills once their wellness areas open up. All in all it’s a great gym which i can’t fault.

Fantastic experience: Went for a trial at One Playground Marrickville and Daniel was really welcoming and helpful! Enjoyed my first week here attending the Reformer, Yoga and Spin classes. The instructors are really good at what they do! Will definitely recommend this gym to anyone who’s looking to join one ☺️

Negative experience: I’m quite frustrated as I’ve spent two days just trying to find out the pricing options, and I still have no clear information. I’ve been directed from the website to emails, texts, and phone calls, yet no one has provided a simple answer—something that should easily be available online. The staff member from One Playground who has been in contact with me keeps going MIA after setting up calls and texting. If getting basic information is this difficult and the customer service is this poor at such an early stage, it doesn’t inspire much confidence in how the brand, facilities, or operations are run.

Negative experience: This gym isn't what it used to be and it's quite a shame. The charge for a personal trainer doesn't actually go to the trainer, the gym keeps the majority of what you are thinking you are paying your trainer. Plus recently they have changed their rules so PTs can only wear black, you used to go there and see everyone in their own colours expressing themselves now it feels like the employees are treated like workers at woolworths, wearing the same boring black uniforms. It used to be a community focused gym. Now it feels generic and focused on getting as much money as possible from its workers and members.

Negative experience: Was part of One Playground short term whilst I was in Australia from June to August for an internship. Agreed on the consultation to sign up for personal training sessions to tackle gym anxiety. I made the mistake of paying $450 upfront for 6 sessions as they had my money and completely diminished on quality of the sessions. It took more than two weeks for them to attempt for me to be set up with an instructor. Obviously, I wasn’t happy as I didn’t have an agreed date and time for even a consultation with an instructor and was here short term (completely out of the instructors hands I believe they’re just incredibly oversubscribed). Upon trying to cancel I had to deal with a women called Alexandra who fundamentally shouldn’t be in a customer facing role, poor response times and she used generic tactics to a paying customer. To try get this matter resolved I had to leave my internship early one day and speak to the club manager who was reasonable at the time. It’s been nearly two months since that conversation and haven’t received the money agreed upon back. Would definitely disincentivise against PT at this gym. EDIT: Lack of integrity and evident dishonesty stating my refund was processed in July - Attached below is the screenshot from Club Manager in August still trying to working out logistics to process the refund instead of using my card details on file.

Fantastic experience: Cannot fault it - excellent facilities & environment with top of the line equipment and outstanding customer service on show every time, the best gym that I've ever been a member of.

Fantastic experience: I never thought I’d enjoy the gym and then I joined One Playground. Pip is such a knowledgeable and patient personal trainer! The gym equipment is fantastic and the facilities are stylish and clean! Highly recommend joining for any gym newbies!

Negative experience: This gym doesn't provide their monthly membership costs without you contacting them and giving your email and contact details. It's frustrating and feels like a tactic to pull you into their system before you're ready. Data hoarding and manipulative recruitment tactics is exactly what is wrong with modern day businesses. If I’m wrong, I’m happy for a representative to explain why. If the gym believes in its product, they should make this basic information easily accessible online. Hiding it is unnecessary and annoying. Just put the membership fees on your website for everyone to see.

Fantastic experience: One playground is a really good gym and has the best machines. I have trained at other gyms too but one playground Marrickvile is outstanding. Their staff is very friendly. Amelia is very helpful and friendly and always passionate to help.

Fantastic experience: I am so impressed with the staffs here, they are so attentive and caring especially Corset and another male staff with a beard. I was really dizzy during one of the class and just headed out to catch some breath at the waiting area. the staffs then came out and asked me if i was okay and gave me some sweets and water which is very kind of them. Corset even make sure if i am gonna be ok on my way home, i just love them. keep up the good work guys, I am sure one day your kindness will return to you in one way or another.

Positive experience: Went for a trial here yesterday and Zenya was absolutely amazing. She was super helpful and does her job really well. Unfortunately had to take a star off as the other staff member I dealt with Sammy, was quite rude.

Fantastic experience: One playground is a very comforting space, it is not like the other gym I have been to, they provide care and time to make you feel safe when joining & has amazing community full of kind and caring staff and members.

Positive experience: Love this gym, can it be a little hard to book classes sometimes? Yes - but that just shows how popular they can be Reformer, barre & mat Pilates are my go to - the instructors are caring, knowledgeable and helpful, allowing you to go at your own pace and work within your limitations.

Positive experience: Disappointing. Great facility, variety of equipment and friendly staff but the gym is beyond busy. Just overcrowded from 6am to 8pm. Can’t get through a single session without changing up my program ( fair enough in a public gym at times ) or waiting for equipment. Competitively priced considering access to their other locations. Worst car park in Marrickville.

Fantastic experience: One playground is an amazing gym. Always clean and with good equipment. Love the fact that in marrickville is 24/7, no matter how busy you are you can always pop by early morning or very late in the night to have your workout done. I hope in the future there is more available locations and maybe the Newtown gym becomes 24/7 too

Positive experience: Originally posted a 1 star review regarding direct debits being charged for personal training sessions that were not organised. Kariem, the club manager, contacted me immediately to have the issue resolved which was great. 3 stars for proactive problem solving and customer service, but that does not excuse the gaps in processes and systems.

Negative experience: I cancelled my membership 1 month ago and this gym still taking the money from my bank account. I try to call them they never answer the phone

Positive experience: Amazing facilities, great variety of equipment, classes and teachers. As someone who travels for work, I opt for monthly memberships (which is the same price as their long-term options) and the only way to sign up for a membership is directly through their staff. I wish the website or app allowed for membership purchasing.

Fantastic experience: I really love their HIIT pilates classes and the Burleques dance classes! the class instructor was amazing!

Fantastic experience: Great environment and infrastructure, I love attending the Yoga, Pump, Athletica Fit and Strong classes. I find the time table has plenty of sessions for everyone at all times. The weights section has plenty of room for every one. I have been attending this gym for the past 6 months and I feel good about myself, I feel motivated about continue my weekly routine and I look forward to continue to attend this gym. Fantastic experience: Had a lot of issues with the Mind Body app/connection, booking classes etc. This issue passed through 3 people, until I called again and got Lindsey M on the other line. What stood out most was Lindsey's ability to approach the challenge with a solution-oriented mindset. It was evident that she had a firm grasp on the nuances enabling her to navigate through the issue efficiently and effectively. Lindsey demonstrated a genuine commitment to customer satisfaction. Her dedication to resolving my query promptly underscored her passion for ensuring that clients receive the highest level of service. It is clear that Lindsey goes above and beyond to not only meet but exceed expectations.

Fantastic experience: Great gym with a wide variety of classes in a very friendly non-judgemental environment. I like that it is 24/7 access so I have zero excuse to not show up even with shift work and the timetable for classes are varied so that I can still participate when I can. It is a gorgeous environment that you want to enter and to achieve your wellness goals.

Negative experience: The gym has awesome machines and freeweights, but it is seriously oversubscribed. Between 05:30 and 08:30, expect to queue for every machine/station. This is made worse by PTs who all seem to train compound sets, so reserve a station and move between them. If you can train between 10:00-16:00, it’s a great gym, otherwise best avoided. Update: Jan 1st and the gym is still oversubscribed…. Just watched 2 girls reserve 2 benches and then disappear for 10 mins … came back and used them to do sit ups (?) - disappear again… 10 mins later, more sit ups… came back 10 mins later and just took towel without doing a set!?! The owners of this gym really need to step up and do something because a massively oversubscribed gym X a lack of basic gym etiquette, makes this an awful place to workout

Fantastic experience: Love this gym - the people, the trainers, the classes. Special commendation for Athletica by Sienna and Shannon, Strong by Alek, Will's Mat Pilates and all Anna's pilates classes. These instructors really care about your form, your fitness and your fun. Marrickville is an awesome gym, and really inclusive of everyone.

Negative experience: NEVER SIGN UP WITH THIS GYM !!! Absolutely unethical treatment. Like with many chain gyms, the moment you sign up - they will do anything to get your money. If you want to cancel your account, they will ignore your emails, charge you and make it as hard as possible for you to get out of your membership. I don't need to have to make a thousand calls and send hundreds of emails to end my membership. STOP MAKING IT UNCOMFORTABLE FOR PEOPLE. CANCEL MY ACCOUNT AND GIVE ME MY MONEY BACK.

Positive experience: A great range of machinery & classes. BUT I can't give it more than 3 stars as there is no management of misuse. Machines are constantly 'held' by people leaving their belongings on them while they're on other machines. You can do two sets next to machinery with a towel or bottle on it with no return of the other patron. Weights are all over the place with little respect & infrequent returning. I really hope management can get this under control.

Negative experience: Joined this gym for the kinds of equipment and space they had. Then came the renovation. I made internal complaints, and they acknowledged they got a lot of complaints about it, but nothing was done. Monumental f up from the then Fitness Playground now “One Playground”. “Playground” is an appealing word to use in a business name because it makes the gym look like it’s more than just treadmills and weights. It’s not. It was, but now it’s not. The gym is packed, members have no consideration for equipment and leave it lying around anywhere and everywhere. Trainers and members have no consideration for space (lost space since the renovation) and sometimes set up cones around them to hog more space. This morning there were no gym mats available even though it seems like there were only 4 or 5 in use. Being a member of this gym has just reinforced my disdain for gyms as a business. I joined this because it seemed different, and it was until the renovation. But it’ll make no difference to this business because they’ll just keep pumping through signing up members $$$

Fantastic experience: Such an incredible bunch of people, who genuinely care about anyone that walks through the door. Not only is there interest in a client’s health and fitness, but I’ve felt a great sense of care for my wellbeing anytime I’ve interacted with staff, and in particular, Romy, Tom and Sienna who are assets to this gym. I have felt wholly supported from the moment I stepped in the doors the first time and coming here has become a really important part of my life. I never thought I’d say that about a gym but here we are. Can’t praise staff enough and the classes rule too

Positive experience: The gym has some pretty good equipment, but don’t expect to ever be able to use it. Training either in the morning or evening, this place is so crowded it’s unsafe. I’m surprised there aren’t more serious injuries, people are literally falling over one another.

Fantastic experience: This gym has changed my life . I have never trained consistently at a gym because I’ve never been to one that’s motivated me enough to train. I feel disabled when I enter other basic gyms . From the equipment to the staff to the overall vibe, it’s all perfect . I started off just wanting to lose weight and now it’s become my lifestyle. Jacqueline (PT) actually changed my life and I’m stronger and fitter now after having a child than I was as a teenager. I’ve never felt judged or Uncomfortable at this gym even at my heaviest . The owner is also extremely humble and sweet and you can tell he takes pride in what he does and deserves all the success that comes his way . Thank you for creating such an amazing space , I can’t stay away !

Fantastic experience: One Playground isn't just a gym; it's a way of life. They have more machines than I have muscles in my body and the staff are so friendly and approachable. One of the staff members (I think her name is Amelie) is ALWAYS there working hard and providing outstanding service. If you're looking for a fitness centre that offers variety, cleanliness and a welcoming environment, this is the gym for you.

Fantastic experience: I love it all. It's a cost-effective, high quality gym with an amazing array of classes to choose from. Being able to do three sessions of reformer without breaking the bank (like most other reformer studios in Sydney) is a godsend! At One Playground, you really can have it all. It even smells nice!

It's well looked after, the classes are great and very diverse, and there are just so many aspects of One Playground that set it apart from other gyms. The feel, look, vibe, cleanliness, etc. Booking into classes is easy too.

Negative experience: Terrible gym! Overpriced for what they can offer Business model focused at the low maintenance equipment not variety! Not a serious gym for ppl passionate for bodybuilding ! Btw the aircon wasn’t working for almost 3 months when they “renovated “ and the staff couldn’t even give a decent excuse!

Fantastic experience: One playground is one of the best gyms in Sydney, the service is great. Awesome class, I would definitely recommend to my friends and family to sign up in the future.

Positive experience: Painful process to try and join. Was advised I wasn’t allowed to just drop in and speak to someone/look at the gym. I had to make an appointment in advance. We found this really difficult with our newborn baby, which I explained, but their booking system is so rigid. Will look elsewhere.

Fantastic experience: Group exercise classes, so many squat racks and Olympic weightlifting facilities are awesome here

Positive experience: The gym is great, the facilities are top notch as are the range of classes. My only wish is that they would run the creche all day, it currently only operates 9am-12pm, which limits which classes parents can do.

Fantastic experience: I had to move overseas for work in February and this gym is one of the things I miss the most about Australia Great place to workout. The staff has always been super helpful and accommodating. Looking forward to rejoining at the end of the year!

Negative experience: I wouldn't recommend this gym. Im quite advanced, have experienced many gyms this ones at the bottom of the list marketing is terrible and overly selective plus the type of people in it are jealous and will complain about you existing a joke.. Not welcoming at all.. 0/10 my membership was terminated because i supposedly came across as intimidating by not associating with anybody im focused they simply don't cater to everyone i guess... not enough equipment and it's overly saturated..

Negative experience: Aggressive marketing techniques. They offer you a free day pass. Once you arrive they sit you down in a table, and they almost force you to sign up. No free day training and harassment. Terrible

Positive experience: Generally great Especially the ground floor (classes section). It’s nicely decorated, always clean and smells good. The reformer classes are great, the instructors are amazing and they love what they do. I usually take 1 or 2 classes a week. I love it! The gym however, is a different story. Evening hours are too crowded (definitely don’t come between 4:30-7:30)❌if you’re lucky to find a parking, you’ll have to wait ages to get a bench or find a vacant machine, and good luck finding the missing parts‍♀️. The lockers aren’t enough and most of them won’t lock. The advantage here is that they have many PTs males and females, I train with Can and she’s awesome! I recommend it in general, but could use some adjustments.

Negative experience: Machines aren't serviced enough, so quality is EXTREMELY low...@oneplayground the kickback machine gets stuck and has been like this forever. The machines are older and not great. The locker rooms are horrible There are pushy and rude trainers trying to push you off machines during a slight rest time.... honestly not enough space for the amount of people during peak. They make it a real nightmare

Fantastic experience: One Playground has the best resourced gym in Sydney. Have classes like yoga, barre, reformer as well as strength based classes - so you can get the best out of wellness vs strength. All the trainers are amazing so the classes don't feel like a punish, particularly since the wellness space makes makes you feel like you are in a day spa. And if you have kids the creche is phenomenal.

Negative experience: I truly want to love and have tried to love one playground. I have been a member for over a year now and whilst I do enjoy the classes at the gym I can never book in to actually do one. I have emailed a few times about my concerns but they haven’t been taken seriously. The response has been “it will lessen now Surry hills and Newtown is open” but nothing has changed. Adding one extra class at 3pm doesn’t really cater to most people who work a 9-5 job. I have asked for a wait list system at least like most other gyms but again none of my concerns have really been answered. I have to set my alarm to 11.59 everyday to try and book a class when the booking window is open at 12 and even then I still can’t get in. It’s a bit ridiculous. The gym should take into consideration how many members are there paying to attend classes and cater to those needs instead of letting an influx of members join without having those needs met. Paying the class membership to only attend 1-2 classes a week is not why I joined. I want to exercise and attend classes regularly but it becomes a chore when it’s a battlefield to even book one.

Negative experience: The wellness studio is often unattended. When you book a sauna they are always locked and it's impossible to find someone to open it for you, then they are not preheated and you are only given a minimal time frame. There is often no soap or shampoo. For the price you pay for membership and sauna it's very disappointing.

Fantastic experience: Regular visitor, I particularly enjoy the spin classes, the great variety of other offerings, the excellent Personal Trainer experience and interestingly the distinctive, un-gym like smell.

Fantastic experience: Best gym I’ve ever been to! Great facilities, excellent group fitness classes, staff are friendly and helpful, and an overall amazing experience every time I’m there.

Positive experience: Good gym. Personally I preferred the 2.0 version and I know a lot of other regulars share similar views, especially with regards to the layout e.g. the old squat rack and free weight set up being arguably more training friendly and convenient. Couple of other smaller things could be optimised but overall it’s still a good gym with convenient opening hours in a great location.

Fantastic experience: The gym has good stuff in terms of machines and equipment, especially after it was refurbished, the space for squats and cardio are really good!

Fantastic experience: Since I joined One playground I have been motivated to be fit again. Few of the classes that one playground offers that help me a lot on my fitness goals are Reformer, Spin and Pump class. Reformer class definitely helps me to build a strong core and develop my muscles on my shoulders, torso and pelvis. Joining this gym is the best fitness decision I have ever made!

Negative experience: It's a nice gym. But it's very expensive and hard to get into any classes. You have to pay $25 for suana use. While other gyms offer this service for free for members. I've opted to join a different gym.

You need to set a timer to book a class, often the classes book out within 2 minutes of them opening. the floor area of the gym was absolutely packed today at 4pm. I get that Newtown is undergoing renovations and this is making it crowded. Why keep signing new members if you know it's busy and no one can get into classes or actually use the facilities?

Fantastic experience: Fitness playground has been the most amazing gym i’ve ever joined! And i’m a picky person when it comes to gyms. As a mum, I am amazed at the services provided such as the creche and the wellness center. The classes are amazing and welcomes people of all levels even prenatal & postpartum ladies. This gym is definitely one to look at, try out and admire!

Negative experience: The gym was great..new renovation and layout dosnt work at all. Too many members hard to use equipment even during weekdays. You need to set a timer to book classes even then they book out as soon as they open

Positive experience: I particularly love the Pump and Spin classes with Colleen. I get bored if I work out individually. So, group classes suit my motivation more. Sadly, I don’t always get to book in all the time - they’re so popular.

Fantastic experience: Marrickville Fitness Playground was on par with the premier The Bunker gym. I though the layout was amazing, the equipment was well-maintained and the place just had a very clean/modern feel! Love love loved it!!

Negative experience: EDITED REVIEW Situation at the gym has improved since Newtown re-opened, whilst still very busy it is not constantly over-capacity as it previously was. Availability for popular classes is still very difficult (classes fill up in under 5 mins from opening), despite additional classes being added to timetable. Air-conditioning issue is now fixed which is a massive improvement ORIGINAL REVIEW Avoid at all costs. Overcrowded, massively worse so since the renovation. Frequently every since machine is taken up, with swarms of PT’s blocking multiple stations at the same time Classes are almost impossible to book into, the AC barely works The male bathrooms are beyond putrid, was nice to see a cockroach friend in there this morning Continually selling memberships with zero regard for the member experience, but nobody ever in the office when there are issues?

Positive experience: I am a member and I used to loooove this gym. After the renovation I feel that they started accepting sooo many new members and there’s a lack of space (which makes the gym warmer and longer time there as you usually have to wait for equipment). And also, a lack of classes available. It’s been days that I am trying to get into any class and they’re always booked out. Last class I went, the room was crowded. I had an amazing experience before, friendly staff, great space and equipments. I looove the center. But now with so many people I am not sure if I’ll continue there. I’ll give couple of months to see what happens. I hope you guys understand my point for this review. Thank you.

Positive experience: Great vibe but I have two issues with the gym: 1. The fixed bench presses are quite narrow so your shoulders aren't supported 2. They blast so much air freshener you can smell it on the street outside

Fantastic experience: This is a great clean gym with friendly staff. The classes are also enjoyable with great trainers. Highly recommend.

Positive experience: I really like the locations of the gym as I don't drive and they are conveniently close to train stations. My main gripe would be trying to get a Reformer pilates class (I have literally been in the app at 11.59am and still miss out) so a wait list option would be ideal for ALL classes. I know that the MindBody app (where you can also book classes) do have a wait list option for other gyms and considering how quickly classes fill up, this is needed.
