Negative experience: Yes it’s cheaper but not worth it. Crowded, equipments not working, dirty toilets, no air conditioning takes all energy and passion away. Yes most of the competitors are expensive but they are not costly.
Negative experience: Worth gym ever no moral, very bad system , only care about collecting money …they don’t provide any descent service as they advertise very bad management's and lots of discrimination I don’t recommended to anyone . If you compliant to managements about the service and discrimination they take weeks to get back to you , then they band your memberships and refuse to refund your money without any investigation very unfair don’t care about their customers .
Negative experience: Honistly I'm about to leave this gym. Thw lack of care of equipment is terrible. There are more broken tredmils then working. Why open more gyms around Australia when you can't even maintain the current gyms. It's dirty, unsafe with equipment laying around for people to trip on, don't waist your money with Derrimut gym.

Negative experience: I used to love Derrimut gym Caroline Springs, but unfortunately it's now neglected. Abandoned dumbbells everywhere around the gym, dumbbells with missing label so you have to guess the weight, broken machines that takes months to fix. Deadlift floors broken and uneven for the last 3 months and counting. I have been a derrimut member for nearly 6 years, unfortunately 2024 is my last.

Negative experience: I have been a member for many years and once the hot weather hits it's the same story. The air conditioning is not working. It's stifling and prevents me from doing my work outs. This prevents me from coming. I pay a full membership and don't get compensation for the air-conditioning not working. This is terrible and unexceptable. Management need to listen to their customers.

Positive experience: For it's notoriety for being one of the best gyms, I can say that it has earned its reputation. The gym is divided into 4 main halls which each have their own, if I were to categorise it: cardio, mainly machines, boxing and basketball training area, and a free weight area. The gym due to its size has numerous and unique equipment to offer to min max your gym workout. However, the only reason it doesn't get 5 stars is because the changing/bathroom area smells like piss every time I walk in, while you get used it, it's not how I would like to end my workout. For pure gym criteria, it is 5 stars, and it also offers acai or coffee bar, along with an assortment of high protein and energy drinks for sale if you don't mind spending a pretty penny. They also have cool merch. Another thing to mention, it can be a bit crowded during peak hour, which I find to be around 3 to maybe 7 or 8 PM, there are a lot of members during this time and it can slow down the workout.

Negative experience: Overall big gym. One thing I notice about this gym is the sanitary I did find that it was very dirty. For example the bathroom do not get enough cleaning and you eventually get people taking pictures of themselves in the bathroom even when you’re trying to walk to your locker to collect your bag and those people eyeing you off for interrupting the mirror photo. It was such an uncomfortable experience! I don’t even want to be in the picture. I there should be a policy regarding taking video or pictures in the gym, should be a comfortable, inclusive, safe environment for people to exercise. Pilates studio have great instructors. Reformer beds are dirty and you can’t even wipe or spray them because the gym was out of paper towels and wet wipes I think they haven’t stocked up on wet wipes in months. I do feel that the space does not get enough care or cleaning. Ceiling has mould, a lot of equipment has out of order or broken equipment. Don’t believe this place is accessible for people with health impairment or condition as the environment can be overwhelming . Overall my experience of the gym has been uncomfortable consistently worried I would end up behind someone workout video, bring my own wipes to clean the equipment as the gym lack the facilities to accommodate, hygiene is definitely not on par, and lastly very toxic gym culture. On a positive note, the gym is affordable if you’re starting at a gym, however if you’re willing to invest on a gym membership it is worth spending a little more at another gym.

Negative experience: Subject: Concerns Regarding Recent Theft Incidents at Caroline Springs Gym Dear Caroline Springs Gym Management, I am writing to express my concerns regarding recent experiences I’ve had at your gym. Unfortunately, I have experienced theft on two separate occasions, and I am disappointed with the lack of support in handling these incidents. Firstly, someone stole my bag. When I reported this to the front desk, I was advised to bring a police report. I found this process discouraging, as I had hoped the gym would take a more proactive approach to assist with the situation. The second incident occurred yesterday, on November 13th, between 4:40 pm and 5:00 pm. My brother and I were in the sauna, and during this time, our new shoes were taken. Once again, I reported this to the front desk within minutes, hoping that staff would review the cameras promptly. However, I was met with a dismissive response and was again asked to provide a police report before any action could be taken. I plan to file a police report, but I believe the gym should take more responsibility in such cases, particularly considering the presence of cameras. As a paying member, I expected a safe environment for both myself and my belongings. I hope this message will encourage the gym to take appropriate action to support its members in such situations. Positive experience: Shakes from the cafe are shit.. No paper towels available mostly to wipe the equipment.. Sometimes foam support is missing from the hip thrust machine.. Otherwise the gym is pretty good..

Negative experience: This gym is on a rapid decline! Gym equipment and attachments aren’t replaced, been over a year and can’t seem to find any handles around the joint. I over heard a PT asking a client to bring their own attachments as the gym hasn’t replaced them… The place is so overly populated that you spend most of your workout waiting for equipment to become available to use.

Negative experience: Wouldnt let me get a casual pass without ID even though I was there last week and wasnt asked for ID. My partner went back in all of 10 minutes later and asked another person on the front desk for a casual pass and was not asked for ID.

Positive experience: The gym is okay. However the people that go there are kinda disgusting. Toilets always seem dirty and wet, everyone is so lazy doesn't put their weights away, always leaving it on the floor etc super inconsiderate. Also when they do their promotions they make it seem like it's a deal of the year, but they mention that hidden start up fee later.

Negative experience: I don't know how on earth they can run such a big gym without a stretch zone. Is it even legal? Apart from big inconvenience for the stretchers, accident is waiting to happen. Because, people have to stretch inbetween boxing bags and other people focussing on weights etc. They can't even look at people stretching on the ground and can easily tip over and get injured badly. Stretching is an important aspect of fitness regime for many. May be not for this gym management? Also, please fix the locks in the change room. It only takes one person to go over each locks and tighten the 22mm nuts.

Negative experience: Dear Management, I am writing to formally express my dissatisfaction with the behavior of a staff member at the Caroline Springs Derimut gym during my recent visit on 03/10/24. I have been a member of Derimut Gym for the past two years, and have visited various locations without issue. Unfortunately, my experience at Caroline Springs was extremely disappointing. Upon arriving at the gym, I tapped my membership card twice but it did not work. I looked behind the counter and noticed that there was no staff member present, so I proceeded to enter the gym. At this point, I was suddenly confronted by a staff member from the back who began yelling, accusing me of attempting to "sneak in." I explained that I was simply unfamiliar with the layout of the gym and meant no harm. Despite my efforts to clarify the situation, the staff member remained hostile and displayed no courtesy in addressing or understanding my situation. As someone who works in customer service myself, I found the behavior of this staff member to be completely unacceptable. The lack of a calm, professional demeanor and any effort to de-escalate the situation falls short of the standard of service I have come to expect at Derimut. This incident left me feeling both disrespected and unwelcome at the facility. I believe that respectful communication is essential, especially in a service industry where customer experience should be the priority. I kindly request that you address this issue with the staff involved to prevent similar occurrences in the future. I hope that my feedback is taken seriously, as I would like to continue being a member without any further issues.

Negative experience: I’ve stopped coming to this location because they never have their air con on. For such a big gym you would assume they would have air cons blasting all day. This is never the case. Because of this, the smell is pungent. Please turn your air cons on so we can train better lol

Negative experience: The affordability and number of machines is certainly a major draw, but after several months of working out here, it’s clear that you get what you pay for. The most frustrating aspect is the lack of functional equipment. Many pulley attachments are limited, and an astonishing and frustrating number of weight machines are missing the crucial weight stack pins, leaving even more equipment unusable. The toilet and water refill area is abysmal. The water taps are often broke and are rusting. It’s obvious that the business model is focused on high volume at low prices, with costs being cut wherever possible. Yet, it takes minimal effort to keep a supply of replacement weight stack pins on hand or to periodically refresh worn-out attachments. Despite this, basic maintenance is neglected. Just yesterday, while using a tricep rope, I didn’t notice the plastic ball at the end was cracked. Mid-set, the ball snapped off, causing the metal lug to slip and cut my hand as the rope slid through. I’d suspect that most members would be willing to pay a little more if it meant better equipment upkeep and cleanliness. This gym is so close to being on par with major muscle gyms in the U.S., but they consistently fall short by neglecting even the simplest maintenance. If affordability is the biggest factor then I would say invest in at a minimum a weight stack pin and maybe a triceps rope and just grit through the inadequacy.

Positive experience: Very good gym, friendly staff, diverse membership. The layout sucks for workout transitions but when you get to know where the machines are and the free weights are at then you’re good! And the cardio machines are NOT well kept, too many machines are down when peak hour.

Negative experience: UPDATE: No change after I’ve left this review , also one add there are millions of big fans upstairs in the women’s section, and there is NO WAY to turn them on, so the logic behind that blows my mind. What the hell CS Derrimut?! I like this location only because it was more financially feasible than another gym much closer to me, however you do get what you pay for. - multiple machines in the women’s section out of order, as I can see in other reviews I’m sure it’s been out of order for quite some time. - upstairs and downstairs toilets are absolutely disgusting, there are cleaners but all I see them doing is vacuuming the floors and cubbies, the mirrors are absolutely filthy dust and handprints everywhere. (It’s been like this for months maybe longer) - No gym mats , there’s probably one upstairs in the women’s section. - Broken clips on machines - Spray bottles for disinfecting machines always broken and you have to tip it out. Overall: Not hygienic X No working equipment X No care at all X

Negative experience: You get what you pay for here Staff unfriendly and it always feels like you’re an inconvenience to them. Toilets and bathrooms are always filthy and never seem to be cleaned. Toilet paper everywhere, toilets themselves are filthy, no soap. Overall, just really disgusting. Classes are pretty hard to get into unless you want to wake up at 5am every morning just to book your class. Not sure who is in charge of cleaning the carpark and surrounding areas but there is always litter from their coffee/smoothie bar outside

Negative experience: This place is quite spacious but that’s the only plus! Problems: - broken machines in the ladies section from over an year - untrained staff on the reception who know nothing about customer service - there’s a cafe/bar but it’s been over a month since they had a supply of coffee cups. They keep charging customers randomly and give them half filled cups in the already petite cups labeled as large - been overcharged for the frozen foods a couple of times until I noticed after overpaying for multiple times already - they keep inviting more members but toilets etc are in bad conditions 99% of the time given the crowd

Negative experience: The worst gym in the world in summer no AC, and they don't even have fans you can't even breathe. Very disappointing sweeping all the work out. The AC stoped working in 2022 until today AC not working. If you want to work out in Sawna go to this gym.

Negative experience: Very let down with this gym, it all starts with the amount of cable equipment that is unavailable to use due to people always taking pins out of them. They say it's due to renovations however I have been here a while and I always see people removing pins. The next issue, people always mix up dumbbells on the rack and leave them on the floor which is highly annoying when you are trying to find a set to use for your workout. Third issue, the amount of people that crowd each peice of equipment and barley use it and treat this place like a hang out when there are people coming here to work out yet they can't because there is a nightclub of people crowding this joint. Issue number 4, the staff are not very customer centric and aren't welcoming at all, as they don't acknowledge anyone that come and go throughout the gym. Issue 5, the male bathrooms are highly messy and not maintained overall, the staff do not do a good job of keeping the cleanliness of this space at all. Conclusion: it seems to be this gym has unfortunately not provided a good image of what a ideal gym should look like as they have failed to meet a range of factors that come into account in terms of what makes a good gym. I feel that you pay premium price for a gym that is very sub par due to the lack of customer service, equipment accessibility, gym cleanliness and the overall enviroment. However I will say when I use to gym at the braybrook location it was far better in terms of all the above stated points and I might reconsider the longer drive to braybrook instead of coming here.

Negative experience: The gym is good and all. But the special deals that come from time to time are unfair for existing members. I signed up when it was $300+ fees for 12 months. Currently, they have a deal for $168 for 12 months and I wanted to top up. But they told me I’m not allowed, and I’d have to wait until my membership expires to renew it. Who knows what deal they’ll have by then. Whereas new members could enjoy this deal. Someone who is a loyal member could not enjoy it, this doesn’t make sense. Is this fair for us?

The bathrooms are in disrepair with broken showers, basin taps and lockers falling apart from the hinges! Like I said, I'm snot sure about the others but stay clear of this one! Negative experience: So after 2 months off due to being in hospital l went back to the gym the other week and was shocked at what l found. -Music is still loud. if people want to train to music thats fine but it doesnt need to be so loud that you can still hear it through noise cancelling headphones. -No pins in most of the machines -A lot of machines are out of order -No D Clips which makes me think that people are putting them in their bags so they dont have to keep looking for them.. Pins in the drinking fountains have been removed 2 of the 5 new wash bowls in the mens changerooms dont work. While staff say that the reason is for renovations l cannot see what having machines without pins in them has to do with renovations and also having no D clips in the gym also is to do with renovations. There are still a lot of machines with broken cables which cannot be used, still not a renovation issue. l have been coming to this gym since its inception and have never seen to gym in such a state of disrepair. We dont need new machines from a different company just the current ones maintained. Making changes just makes it more confusing for gym goers..If it isnt broken dont fix it..

Negative experience: Gym use to be good but I am sure someone is coming in here and intentionally damaging equipment, if it isn't broken then then pins are missing for the weight stack. Right now it's at a point of being a joke especially with the amount of equipment and 60% of it is useless due to these issues its a big ask to be charging the prices you do considering how lack luster the maintenance is.

Negative experience: I have been back and forth with cancelling my membership for over a year now. Finally cancelled and still they are taking full payments out of my account i can't seem to ever get a response from management. Also throughout the duration of my membership the prices kept going up and not to mention the money I need back during the lock down period more than $100 per month was taken out and that wasn't even my membership price im so upset!!!!

Negative experience: Unpleasant Experience at Derrimut Gym Inconsistent pricing and refusal to match rates are unacceptable. Paid $487 for membership at 10 am and 11. 40 am Derrimut advertise $287 per annum. We called and requested Derrimut Caroline Springs if they can match the rate advertised as you made us pay $200 extra 1 hour ago, they said the manager said “No” so cannot help. The head office doesn’t have a phone number and provided an email address to make the complaint so they can easily refuse. If you have had the same experience, Consider reaching out to the Consumer Affairs Victoria (CAV) to escalate this matter and seek resolution. They can act as your advocate in situations like this.

Negative experience: Re-Review SPEND YOUR MONEY, TIME AND ENERGY ELSEWHERE!!! what a useless excuse for a gym. How many cable machines have to be broken before you bother fixing them!?! Honestly, who do I speak to for a refund on my remaining 8 months of membership? Should I start bringing my own gym equipment to a gym I pay for... It's so bad I looked into buying my own pins for the weigh stack machines and a set of D grip handles just so I can complete a workout. If you like cardio then you'll love this place, spending large amounts of time walking around the gym looking for equipment you'll soon realise is non-existent because the biggest gym in Australia is also one of the worst gyms in Australia. 20+ cable machines out of order and why... because the pins are missing from the weight stack. The machines that aren't out of order don't have clips to attach handles or bars to so you can't use them anyway and D grip handles... I looked for them this morning... I found 3 (or 1 and a half sets) all in use. WELCOME TO AUSTRALIA's VERY FIRST BYO GYM!!! I've been a part of this gym on and off for quite some time and it's clear to see that what is supposed to be the derrimuts flagship gym in Caroline Springs is an outdated wasteland where gym equipment goes to die. Numerous cable machines have been broken for months. The ones that are working are missing clips so you can't use them anyway and don't even waste your time looking for D grips to put on the machines that do work. Dumbell racks are half empty with most weights under 20kg hard to find, not to mention that derrimuts staff do nothing to ensure weights are kept where they belong so you can find what you're looking for. The music is awful most days and far too loud. I have noise cancelling headphones that have trouble drowning out the trash not to mention when working out with friends we're basically shouting at each other over the music. On that note everyone in the gym has headphones on, almost no one is listening to the music... what is the point of having the music so loud. Bathroom facilities are poor, I really enjoy working out in the front room with the faint smell of toilet in the air. I recently had a friend join which is part of the reason that prompted me to write a review... the yearly membership comes with an $88 admin fee on top of their "special membership" price... and if you are a current member it's still an $88 admin fee to change the year date on your existing membership... All in all its a below average gym that rely on its name to bring in customers. The facilities on offer are outdated and neglected.

Negative experience: I just started going to this gym and I'm extremely disappointed, I paid $570 for a membership to a gym that is filthy, has broken down machines everywhere (like seriously almost all of the cable machines were either broken or falling apart to the point I felt unsafe using them) and the final touch of the point is the ENTIRE dumbbell section is chaos, it takes me 10-15 minutes just to find what I need because they are scattered all over the gym because people don't return them to the rack, as far as I was aware this was a rule that was meant to be enforced, but from what I can see the staff don't even care, they stand at the front laughing with each other and don't even bother to greet the guests, they don't clean, they don't bother checking who is leaving the dumbbells all over and they don't tidy up a bit to make the place more welcome, especially for people new to the gym like me. What have I paid my money for? Clearly NONE of it is going back into the maintenance of the gym, and clearly it's not going towards fair pay for the staff/getting new staff who actually DO CARE. I STRONGLY advise any newbies considering buying a membership to look elsewhere, this place will make you HATE the gym and will keep you unmotivated to work on yourself, and that is a shame to say since derrimut used to have such an amazing reputation, but at this point I either want confirmation that things are getting fixed (and I mean actually fixed, not just empty promises) or I want a refund so I can take my money to a gym that actually cares about fitness and it's patrons.

Negative experience: I've tried contacting management with my concerns and received no reply. This is supposed to be Derrimuts flag ship gym, yet there is constantly no equipment available, the place is filthy and of course majority of the machines are broken and very rarely fixed. I train 5 days a week and despite raising concerns, nothing changes. Photos attached were taken while hiking to find a matching dumbbell.

Negative experience: First time visiting and got a casual entry pass when I went with a friend. We were there for 5 minutes before leaving because as we were warming up on the pull-down machine, the bar fell off the loose hook on the machine and dropped onto my friend’s head who started bleeding - we had to take a trip to the doctors to get it patched up. This was 2 weeks ago and theres been no follow up by the staff to check on him. (On top of that they wouldn’t return my entry fee or offer some sort of credit but whatever) My friend is better now but I feel sorry for anyone in the future that’ll find themselves in a worse-off situation and be disregarded by the staff like nothing happened. Big, successful business that doesn't give af about the wellbeing or safety of their customers

Positive experience: It’s a great place for all age groups to workout. There are a lot of weight options and a huge range of those. Multiple options for different machines saves a great deal of time. The washrooms however are not well managed and the sauna has this weird smell all the time that needs maintenance. If they can introduce steam room along with all the facilities this could work out in favor of this location.

Fantastic experience: Popular gym, lots of good equipment and well designed. Can't go wrong with Derrimut. I train at a leisure centre since it's more convenient for me in terms of travel but the gym at CS is very good.

Negative experience: Great gym aside from the lack of ventilation in the ladies gym. There is an old lady that keeps turning the aircon off when other patrons turn it on and tell her it too humid. She shouldn’t be allowed to be turning off the aircon at her convenience.

Positive experience: Need to install exhaust Fan in male toilet please. Alot of Smell. Atleast need 3 toilet exhaust fans please. Very important. Kindly fix

Negative experience: Car park area is full of empty bottles and sports drinks . It's only take 1hour to clean all that area.

Negative experience: Let's get everyone and anyone in for a cheap $200 per year and then never maintain the gym. They are behind on maintenance with broken and dodgy equipment. There's been no hand sanitiser for the last 2 weeks. Drink taps were previously broken for weeks. Parking has been a huge problem because the gym is way over capacity because of trying to get as many memberships as possible. Air con does not keep up. The place is fast turning into a dump.

Negative experience: Hi, I canceled the contract sep 23,2023. But today I asked from receptionist about my cancellation date. she didn’t help me to find the cancellation date , She told me that she can’t find my cancellation form. Her name was Mia. It’s bad customer service. She told me that I didn’t cancel the contract that’s why she can’t find it. But when I checked my emails I found cancellation email. She simply said there’s no any cancellation form instead putting effort to find the cancellation form. I’m really disappointed.

Positive experience: Great place to keep Fit, the Caroline Springs location is one of the biggest I have been to, some machines do need to be upgraded, but there is plenty others to help achieve your goals.

Negative experience: Add more treadmills and fix the machines in the ladies gym! The equipment is always taken, and so crowded. also clean it and add some automatic air freshener place reeks!

Negative experience: Every cable you walk up to is out of order, insufficient/poor quality cable attachments, but at least the owner is covered in bling when he visits.

Positive experience: Good gym, and affordable membership. Admin fee would make more sense if they added that into the full price of the membership instead of the fine print at the bottom. Gym is the size of 4 warehouses combined, a lot of equipment. Big basketball court. Lots of cardio machines. Lots of dumbells and benches. It is common for the equipment to be broken or out of order. Lack of attachments for cable machines. Not much car park space during busy periods. Male toilets are unhygienic and smell pretty awful, but I understand it is hard to maintain the facility with so many visitors every day. Overall, it is a really good gym and could be much more if it were better managed.
