Fantastic experience: Best Bouldering place I found so far in Sydney. It is spacious, clean (they even have free liquid chalk) and there are plenty of routes even for beginners or people like me who are on a medium level.

Fantastic experience: Had the privilege of being a regular here during my year in Sydney. Just climbed for the first time abroad again and the setting just doesn’t compare! Missing the Haus dearly and highly recommend for all levels of climbers.

Fantastic experience: Friendly and casual place to climb. Massive warehouse, so even when it is busy, it doesn't feel packed. Parking can be sometimes tricky but there's plenty of parking 5 minutes walk (in any direction) away (e.g. marrickville metro or closer to enmore park).

What got me was I got a coffee after my session and the nice worker did her best to make one even though she apologised many times for not knowing how to make it. Customer service is definitely a 5/5

Negative experience: Good gym that meets all climbing levels, however the last two times I have attended, at least two large sections of the gym were roped off for resets. This happened on almost every visit to Blochaus over the last 2 years. Took my Dad for his birthday and only had 60% of the gym operating and many of the routes from the last month were part of that 60% which meant a lack of new climbs. We were expected to pay full price on top of this. Very disappointing. Would be good if route resets were done outside of trading hours so gym attendees get their monies worth.

Fantastic experience: Awesome place, lots of challenging climbs.

Fantastic experience: This is my favourite bouldering gym in Sydney. It has great natural light, good music, plenty of space, a slackline, and a wide variety of overhangs and slabs. The route setting is always interesting and varied, and the staff are friendly. The only improvement I'd suggest is enhancing the free weights area.

Negative experience: recently becoming very frustrated with blochaus. looks like they’re putting a lot of work into whites and yellows and focusing less on the lower grades - particularly a lack of technique in most purples and hard to find short friendly climbs. Quite frustrating that this is the fourth section 8 reset with a huge white in the main section (the best spot on the wall in this section). similar with the overhang where reds and purples are being pushed to the side 2 resets in a row. lots of empty space. kind of disappointing

Fantastic experience: My new favourite climbing gym in Sydney. Great space with all the equipment you need. It's really hard to set interesting climbs for lower levels and these setters deliver. If they had a sauna, then I might never leave. I took these photos at around 9.00 AM on a Monday during school holidays. Felt like I almost had the place to myself, in a good way. Send it!

Fantastic experience: It was my first time bouldering when I tried blochaus. I have since tried a few other gyms in the area and so far blochaus is still my favourite. As an amateur climber I really appreciated the range of climbs that could allow me to get a grip for climbing whilst still challenging. Massive space with a lot of variety.

Negative experience: good facility but didn’t really feel welcome. the whole vibe of the place was not comforting for beginners, and found that groups would hog the climbs and wouldn’t let anyone else jump in.

Fantastic experience: I previously had a negative experience when my friend took me to 9 Degrees Alexandria because it smelt really bad there. The shoes rack and waiting area was smelly and had poor ventilation. BLOCHAUS is completely different. No issues at all. The facilities are well-maintained, clean and well-lit. I saw the staff here also take the time to spray all the shoes with anti-bacterial sprays every night. The shoes are in great condition and even have half sizes which most places don't have. They also have good deals on Fridays Will definitely be coming back !

Fantastic experience: First off, 5/5 for this place. It introduced me to climbing a few years ago, and I've been climbing ever since. The facilities are amazing, everything is well maintained, and the staff is super friendly. However, I've noticed that the setting has been more focused on dynos and "new school climbing," which is a deterrent for me as I've been injured in the past. Also, the difficulty between purple and black routes is insane. I understand that BH wants you to try new things and there's overlap, but more often than not, you need to be a monkey to do the black routes. We've left BH since and joined a different gym. Also, after work on weeknights, the place is packed, almost like a concert (which is a victim of their own success!). Hopefully, the setting figures itself out and I may rejoin, but I just wanted to give feedback to the staff!

Fantastic experience: First time here today, and I really enjoyed it. They bouldering is designed to cater for all levels of experience in a judgement free-zone. I loved it so much that I will purchase some climbing shoes from them and a 10 day pass. Highly recommended!

Positive experience: Great range of difficulty. Even when it's busy there's still plenty of climbs to try.

Positive experience: The good: - Nice vibe, good environment. Walls and holds are clean, cute dogs, young environment. - An incredible amount of wall space, possibly the biggest bouldering gym? I don't actually know, but it does feel quite humongous - Staff are always courteous The bad: - Routes. The routes are just... weird. If you want to understand the scale of the problem, I have heard multiple people complaining in other gyms about BlocHaus' setting. Particularly smaller individuals and women. One must wonder who is on their setting team. - The price; I believe it is the most expensive, if not up there, for a bouldering pass. I highly recommend the following gyms (in order): St Peters SICG Why? St Peters has the richest history of indoor climbing in Sydney. No gimmicky routes and pure power; SICG is the opposite of what the BlocHaus experience is. Very often quiet, and with hard, more traditional style climbs. Nomad Nomad does what BlocHaus couldn't. Nomad too, follows the trends of recent modern climbing gyms creating some very dynamic climbs with power moves. But in my experience, their sets are much more consistent, their grading much better and it is also, often quieter than BlocHaus 9 Degrees 9 Degrees is a good gym. A good mix of dynamic moves, but I will say their slab routes are sometimes a bit interesting (but I suck at slabs). Always some great climbers there, and lots of locations. Fairly consistent across locations, and I've been to Paramatta, Alexandria and Waterloo. TLDR: Go to BlocHaus if you want the aesthetic of climbing. Go to any of the other gyms if you want to climb.

Fantastic experience: Large and friendly bouldering gym! Climbs ranging from beginner to expert, heaps to keep you entertained. Includes a fun wild-card wall that changes regularly. Nice training area, ping pong table, slack rope, clean toilets and also a small cafe! Winning. Attended on a Friday night and it wasn't overwhelmingly busy, as some climbing gyms can be. Notes for kiddos: children under 12 aren't allowed to top out on climbs. And no one under 16 in the training gym.

Fantastic experience: Excellent bouldering gym! Very spacious, clean. I love how even for the beginner levels, they made it challenging, requiring some nice moves, and thinking. Other gyms tend to patronize beginners and make them ladder-like, so the route setting here is great. Particularly enjoyed the traverse wall.

Fantastic experience: Quite easily, my favourite bouldering gym in Sydney! The venue is nicely designed and is immediately very welcoming. The staff and friendly, helpful, and diligent. The walls have a good degree of variability and there are plenty of routes to choose from. This alone makes it a good (but not great gym), but where Bloc Haus sets itself apart is with all the little 5% areas they do very well! They have a cafe, which unlike most places actually makes decent coffee. They have a proper strength and conditioning gym, which is well maintained and decently equipped enough to come for alone. They have a good functional training area that’s much better kept than others too. But most importantly, they have little activities, such as slack line, table tennis, and a lounge area that make it so much more social, chilled, and the kind of place you could spend half a day, no sweat! The community vibe is also excellent, they’re dog friendly, and LGBT friendly too. The people there are sociable and that just adds to that community feel. It’s a bouldering gym, S&C gym, and social club all in one!

Fantastic experience: Great facilities for beginners or even intermediary climbers to have a go or to hone their climbing skill. One could rent harness & gears from this shop. I wish I could have bought leather gloves as the climb caused blisters on my hands!

Fantastic experience: Went in as a guest with a member. Great natural workout for upper body strength and forearms. There is a gym upstairs too. Usually it gets crowded in the evenings but the people are friendly and respectful of space and queues.

Fantastic experience: My friends and I visited this bouldering gym today and it was such an amazing place to climb. We all agreed this was probably one the nicest gym we’ve been to. It’s pretty large and has a lot of different routes. Id highly recommend going to BlocHaus!

Fantastic experience: Guys the gym is great and all but if you’re searching for parking on the weekend DONT PARK AT REECE PLUMBING. They close at 12pm and it’s a $200 flat fee to open the gate. Just park along the street / right outside the gym

Fantastic experience: Great inclusive environment and doggo friendly. Plenty of liquid chalk available, have good bandaids and water if you forget your bottle. Friendly staff, enjoyed the bouldering workshop too. Plenty of on-site and street parking available, and it resets frequently. Can get busy after work so recommend early mornings or late in the evening to avoid crowds.

Fantastic experience: My friend and I went to Bloc Haus in Marrickville and joined the 6pm beginners class. The class was only small which allowed us plenty of time to climb but also chance to rest and learn from others without feeling pressured to repeatedly tackle the wall. We loved it, once the training was finished we were both eager to challenge ourselves across the various beginner climbs. We only left because our hands had succumbed to the rough surfaces and our hands were struggling to grip even the easy holds. 4 days later we were back and you can safely say we will both be returning. The beginner course was an incredibly reasonable $30 which included shoe hire (alternatively entry is $24 and shoe hire $7). Once you’re in the entry fee covers the whole day, so you can come and go as you like. There was also a coffee machine and snacks available.

Positive experience: Really good bouldering gym. It is a little bit more expensive than other places. Is it worth it? I guess if you live close by. They could also include free yoga classes as part of the entry. That would keep them competitive with nearby gyms.

Fantastic experience: Great place to go bouldering and challenge yourself on different climbs. Truly climbs suited for every ability from complete beginners to cracked freestyle climbers. Large space and so many challenges to do that one can't get bored even spending the whole day here. Food is a bit expensive, but that's not the primary purpose of this gym.

Fantastic experience: Favourite Sydney bouldering place. People are very friendly, climbs are challenging and there’s a great variety to them. Feels like an inclusive space where you can just relax and go it at your own pace.

Negative experience: I wouldn't mind the crowds or the gimmicky climbs, if we weren't treated so poorly by the staff after 9 months of going here. In all honesty, we did make the mistake of not turning up on time for our climb after booking on class pass but for 9 months this was not an issue. A blanket sudden enforcement of the rules particularly on clientele who go regularly is very poor customer service. I make this complaint, as there was no communication from either ClassPass or BlocHaus Bouldering, otherwise we would've made sure to turn up time or made other plans. We only go here if some of our friends who live close by want to go but otherwise we take our business elsewhere

Fantastic experience: Blochaus have the most fun and varied setting of all the gyms I've been to in the country and Marrickville is no exception. The joker had multiple long traverses of different grades, so much fun to do laps on! Adjustable Kilterboard and spray wall are great, the gym upstairs is huge. The ladies' room has free tampons available; a nice touch. Staff were friendly. Always lots of sweet dogs to pat. Love coming here.

Positive experience: Really good energy and price. But once inside seemed very claustrophobic. The diversity of difficulty is also not consistent, especially only having 5 grades in play. If more levels were added would open up to a more consistent rise in difficulty.

I’ve been to several other bouldering halls before but this one offers really cool and different routes I’ve never seen anywhere else!

Fantastic experience: Great activity for friends, families and colleagues. We’ll set up and decent price considering you can also use the ping pong table and gym. The gym upstairs was surprisingly clean and well equipped with squat racks and techno gym.

Fantastic experience: Super friendly staff and great and welcoming atmosphere. The music is fun and there is range of climbs for everyone, not to mention free chalk! A very clean gym. Busier in the evenings. There is a range of places to relax to rest or if you aren't climbing including ping pong! And there's a fully equipped gym upstairs with a training area for all your warm up needs in the back of the ground floor!

Fantastic experience: If you’ve been to the one in Port Melbourne you’d be surprised how much bigger this place is! I dare say I prefer the setting in Port Melb though but I could be biased ;) Wish there were more crimpy purples though!
