Fantastic experience: A good hot yoga studio! Classes book out quickly so you have to get in early - the hot yoga is definitely not a beginner-style class but great for anyone who already has a bit of a grasp on yoga basics

Fantastic experience: I did a Yin Yoga with Sound bath class today . The instructor was Alex Baldock. Alex is an exceptional instructor. She was very welcoming and made me feel at ease. Her instructions were precise, easy to follow and she offered alternative poses if you found the original pose difficult/painful. The studio is spacious and well lit. Alex's choice of music was brilliant and very calming. Thank you Alex for the wonderful experience.

Fantastic experience: I hadn't done yoga in a couple of years but was eager to get back into it after feeling stiff from regular Gym workouts. I found Upstates classes to be the perfect stepping stone back into Yoga as the 45minute duration so much less daunting that regular hr/90min that some yoga is. I'm so grateful to be back into yoga and loving the benefits of doing these classes. Upstate has also the perfect variation of hot Pilates classes and reformer Pilates for a full bodywork out if been really loving! Definitely recommend!

Positive experience: Great studio with classes that are intense if that's what you're looking for and lovely staff. I would recommend bringing your own mat because even though they provide some, they don't feel particularly clean and are a bit smelly. Otherwise everything else is great, would highly recommend if you are looking for a hard and sweaty workout.

Fantastic experience: I’m loving the vibe, the set up and the instructors, different options for Reformer Pilates classes and flexibility of plans. The booking app is also super easy to use and I almost always get in for my preferred time slot, even if initially waitlisted. Can only recommend Upstate!

I also enjoy the mindfulness/breathing at the start and end of classes. The Yin Yoga and meditation classes are also amazing, very relaxing at the end of the day.

Fantastic experience: I am a long term regular at Upstate Geelong and was curious to see what the Balaclava studio was like. It rocks! Not as big as Geelong and maybe not as hot but the line of windows letting in natural light more than made up. If you want to get fit, have fun and make friends Upstate studios are as good as you can get in this space.

Positive experience: The classes are well run however the booking system via the website and the app are really bad and hasnt been working for 2 days and there is no urgency to resolve this!! I cant book a class without having to pay for it when I am on a 30 days unlimited trial pass and according to staff I spoke to the booking system has been down for 2 days and I still havent heard from anyone on whether this has been fixed. NO communication (email) has been sent to members from the Upstate team that there is a problem with their website & app. I spoke to staff but they are unable to do anything and they rely heavily on Mindbody  to resolve this issue. This is extremely frustrating when I cant manage my own classes and have to email the team at Upstate to get them to book it manually for me!! It is unacceptable this problem isn't resolved ASAP as this is the only way clients could attend classes ! This is their only client-facing portal and it is not working !! The phone support is next to none as well.. It feels like a fraud when I've signed up and paid for a $49 unlimited pass for 30 days but I cant even book my classes on their website and app without it prompting me to pay each time! I never had any problems with other fitness studios that uses the same app to manage their booking system.. this is a really bad experience.

Fantastic experience: Had a great experience with Upstate the Manager Issy - I had a question about their policy and she was so good and called me right away to explain everything. Upstate Balaclava really prides themselves on providing an exceptional experience for all of their customers and I really believe this after my interactions with Issy. 10 out of 10 for her!

Fantastic experience: I signed up to the Balaclava studio 3 weeks ago and have loved every single class I’ve been to. I hadn’t tried reformer or hot yoga before so was skeptical about whether it would compare to the intensity of weight training - I was wrong, the classes have some amazing challenges and options for beginners to advanced. The teachers are so good and actually help you out if they see you doing something incorrectly - unlike a lot of studio/group based training facilities. Each time I visit I feel stronger, more flexible and more confident in what my body can achieve. I’m super happy I joined Upstate :)

Fantastic experience: I bought the 30 day introductory offer and have loved every class. I find 45 minutes is perfect as I never get bored, my mind doesn't wonder and I'm really in the moment. Every class has been different depending on the teacher. As I'm a beginner the instructors modify positions in the pilates classes. My favourite class is the Yin Yoga and Sound Bath Meditation.

I was introduced to this studio via Class Pass and then decided upon my first experience to book the introduction package. Will now 100% continue on a membership! Here below are a few reasons why: 1. Beginner friendly atmosphere and environment. My first day, the instructor welcomed me with a smile. She proceeded to show me how to use the reformer bed and was patient and super friendly when I asked her questions. Moreover, during class, she would help me out and correct my form. 2. Classes are challenging and fun. The music is great, the equipment is modern + clean and every class since I have joined has been different which I love! All instructors provided modifications and different levels from beginner all the way to advanced. Instructions are also very clear and easy to follow. 3. Great location. It is 2-3 min walk from Balaclava train station. 4. Profesionalism throughout. All the instructors have been super professional and on time. Your belongings are also safe in the lockers they provide you and the doors are locked for outsiders to come in and out. I truly hope you try this studio and love it as much as I have. Again, thank you Upstate for such a great experience :)
