Fantastic experience: Good pilates/yoga/boxing gym, good vibes. I only tried the Pilates and Mat classes. Instructors are good at explaining and guiding the exercises. Staffs are always friendly.

Fantastic experience: I have been coming to Upstate for the last 2 weeks and it made me so addictive! Every class is so much fun and I feel great after the workouts! I already feel so much stronger and saw great improvements. I love the variety of classes, from Hot Mat Yoga to Yin Mediation every class makes me leave happy and strong!

Turns out the solution was at upstate all along with hot Pilates and yoga, making Melbourne winter bearable just long enough for the season to change. Upstate does not just provide fitness classes but a refuge to from the harsh elements.

I find it helpful that the class descriptions clearly explain the different class types, so you can pick the one that’s best for you. Only positive experiences at Upstate!

She made an effort, was clear and motivating without being condescending. She was incredible and I instantly booked next weeks class! Cannot recommend enough!

Fantastic experience: Really enjoying the classes on offer here. They have a mix of cardio, boxing, reformer and yoga. Each class is super sweaty and many of them are heated. The boxing is a fun and upbeat one, on the bag, with burpees thrown in for good measure! The only thing would be making sure you book early enough in advance as classes book out.

Fantastic experience: I made my first visit to Upstate Studios Fitzroy last month, and Adam’s Box Strength class got me hooked from the start! The classes are super fun, easy to follow, motivating, and he made 45 minutes flew by really quick! I would highly recommend this class to anyone, including the ones who are new to boxing

Have the unlimited membership and do boxing in the morning and pilates during lunch, sometimes yin yoga at the end of the day to calm down (highly recommend for all my anxious babes) — hands down best studio around. Very aesthetic, clean and well equipped, super fun classes, and lots of available time slots. 10/10

Fantastic experience: I've been going upstate for over a year now; I love this place, and it is my happy place. Reasons why? 1. Installations are great! 2. The staff and instructors are so nice 3. Boxing classes are powerful and fun 4. Hot Pilates is challenging, but somehow, the instructors motivate you to push through. 5. Ying-sounthbath is next level if you want to stretch and relax your mind.

Fantastic experience: Hot pilates and boxing classes are great! Really feel like I have accomplished something after and getting my moneys worth. Reformer I struggled with the one time I did it, wouldn't recommend their reformer classes for beginners.

Fantastic experience: Some people might say it's expensive. But given that the memberships include unlimited reformer pilates (which can often be very expensive in other venues), I think it's worth the price. Staff are lovely and friendly. One of my favourite gyms.

Fantastic experience: Great studio for those with prior experience of yoga, pilates or boxing. It's not for beginners. In the reformer class, there are modifications given for those who are not as strong, but there aren't really any explanations of what to do if you don't know the terms or the equipment. No orientation or tour at the start. They could really do with more women's toilets - there's always a queue - and a drinking fountain to refill your bottle. Still gets five stars from me because what it does, it does really, really well. The instructors are all passionate, qualified and experienced and the classes are high pace and fun.

Fantastic experience: I’m really loving the Boxing classes here. I am yet to try Pilates but will definitely give it a go. Please open one closer to Ivanhoe though! Parking is difficult in Fitzroy

Positive experience: It’s already so difficult getting a spot in reformer pilates but I managed to book one in for a 5pm class in which I had to leave my 9-5 job early to attend. I had managed to find a park and get to the studio 5 minutes early, I signed in with the girl at reception and quickly got changed but by the time I made it into my class at exactly 5pm, all the reformer machines had been taken up. The girls at reception gave my machine away to someone that hadn’t booked who was hoping to score a last minute spot. I felt very awkward standing in the middle of the class having everyone stare at me. In the end I missed out. If I had to make a suggestion it would be count how many people have signed in and how many machines are still available before giving one away to someone that hadn’t booked, because someone could still be in the bathroom or putting their bag away.

Positive experience: The hot yoga classes are great - both the Yin and Hot Flow are relaxing and restorative. The Hot Flow is also a real workout, and the Yin sound bath has been a new, lovely experien ce.
