Keilor East Leisure Centre: Opinions
Negative experience: I have been coming here since 2022 it was the best leisure center in the area, but from last month’. coming here is just wasting of time because no steam room working since last month and the sauna on weekends when it’s too busy, it’s not working as well. The reason it’s under maintenance work. Totally wastage of money for casuals.
Hi Mubeen - thank you for sharing your feedback and we are sorry to hear that is has been your experience while visiting. We take any maintenance issues very seriously and ensure they get reported as soon as it occurs. We are aware of the issues with the Steam Room and we hope to have it resolved as soon as possible. We would love the opportunity to discuss your experience further with you. If you would be willing to discuss further, please feel free to contact us at [email protected].
Negative experience: Nice place but the service at counter is a joke. They need 2 people at the desk at least.
Hi Katrina - Thank you for sharing your feedback and we are sorry to hear about your bad experience. We are committed to providing a great experience for all our guests and would appreciate the chance to hear more about what happened. If you are willing to discuss, please reach out to [email protected].
Negative experience: Staff at reception making coffees and serving food while parents with kids swimming run late for their classes. Yes and we were early. There is no ample parking and gym is tiny. Pools are ok especially the large outdoor pool that is not used in winter? Kids teachers are good.
Hi Joseph - thank you for sharing your feedback about your experience. We are glad to hear that your children's GOswim teachers are good! We would love the opportunity to discuss your other feedback in further detail - please reach out to [email protected].
Negative experience: Membership was suspended without any attempt to contact me, nor was there a valid reason for it. Took four separate in-person inquiries by myself at the desk, and a phone call before my account was fixed and my member band worked again over the period of a week. Had to be given a temporary barcode entry ticket into the facility each time I wanted to use the gym. Apparently they have two separate teams, and they don’t communicate at all with each other. I shouldn’t have needed to follow this up 5 times before it was fixed.
Hi DJ - Thank you for sharing your feedback. We are disappointed to hear that this was the experience you have had as we are extremely focused on making our customers experiences as easy and enjoyable as possible. I am glad to hear that your issue has been resolved, however if you would like to discuss anything in further, please reach out to [email protected].
Negative experience: Streamline your cancellation process, I cancelled my membership 4 weeks ago and they still took 3 x $25 weekly payments until finally I called.
Hi SanAll our memberships have a 14-day notice period for cancellation requests, and all requests need to be submitted via the online cancellation request form in order to be processed. If you were charged an extra week on top of this, we would follow this up with the direct debit company that processes all the membership payments. We do apologise that you were charged an extra week, and thank you for bringing this to our attention.
Fantastic experience: Best leisure centre I’ve been to in Melbourne so far. I drive past 7 other ones I could go to just to come here. It’s extremely well lit, the lifeguards are always attentive, pool is clean and the staff are extremely friendly. I stopped in twice for convenience and now go everyday even though it’s proper out of my way. Hot showers as well!! Nothing better than an actually hot shower. Love your work
Hi Nato - thanks so much for your 5-star rating and wonderful review. It's always great to hear when visitors enjoy our facilities, especially if it means going out of their way to come and visit us! We hope that you continue to enjoy your visits to KELC :-)
Negative experience: The center is great. The staff are lovely as well. My problem is with the integrity of their visit passes using RFID tags. I have had multiple visits taken from my pass on days when I am physically at work or on weekends when I'm at home. It's now twice that I had to request the staff for a review. So if you have visit passes, keep an eye on the count of passes used and when. Otherwise you will get short changed. I'm definitely not using their visit passes ever again.
Hi Mark - we're glad that you brought this to our attention and we've flagged this with our systems team. We apologise for the inconvenience this technical error has caused.
Fantastic experience: The male showers could be a little cleaner in the pool side
We're keeping an eye on this across all our changerooms and ensuring the cleaners are staying on top of this. We appreciate your feedback and hope you to continue to enjoy your visits to KELC. If you have any additional feedback, you can also check out the QR codes on our digital signage within the venue.
Negative experience: Half an hour on the phone trying to call and book a session with the personal trainer and no body was answering. It was hopeless and iam going to cancel my membership soon. It is about every thing. Not friendly and i didnot like the atmosphere
Hi Ali,We apologize for your experience. Unfortunately, we did have a day when our phone lines were down. We did send an email and post on social media about the issue, and it’s possible that this was the day you tried to call. You can book a personal training session at our center or via our website, where our health club team will match you with one of our trainers. We’re sorry to hear that you feel the center is not friendly. We would love to discuss this further to improve your experience. Please contact us to schedule a time to talk and help make you feel more comfortable at our venue.Thank you for your feedback.
Negative experience: Has wonderful disability facilities but sadly they are locked and even though there was a booking made, no one could find the key. Last visit to this pool no one could find the remote for the disability hoist. No point having great facilities if people with disabilities CANNOT access them.
We're sorry to hear about your experience with our disability facilities. While the changing places bathroom cannot be booked, we do offer several disabled bathrooms. Recently, an MLAK lock was installed for our changing places bathroom to ensure accessibility which we’ve been communicating. For information on obtaining a key, please visit our website, or order directly from Master Locksmiths - https://masterlocksmiths.com.au/mlakOur facilities include features like a height-adjustable change table, ceiling track hoist system, and more, designed for accessibility and comfort. We appreciate your feedback and are committed to improving accessibility for all patrons.
Fantastic experience: Clean and well maintained!
Thanks for the 5-star rating and review. We're glad to know that you're enjoying your experience at KELC.
Negative experience: This place got only one disability bathroom with a hoist. I have seen people in wheelchairs lining up to get their turn shivering while the normal people enjoying a shower inside.
Hi Raju - We received additional feedback about this, and agree that some people occupying the Changing Places accessible changeroom was an inconvenience to those that genuinely needed to access it. As a result, and in consultation with Council, we have had the Master Locksmiths Access Key (MLAK) system installed on this specific changeroom, to ensure that those who genuinely need access, and have an MLAK can always access the facility. Thank you for your feedback, and we hope you continue to enjoy your visits to KELC.
Negative experience: I was ROBBED at Keilor leisure centre. I want to say to all my neighbourhood at Keilor east Do Not go to Keilor East Leisure centre. Someone UNLOCKED my locker and took my IPhone and my money . A police investigation is still currently open. I am not the only one, there have been more robberies. Question is WHO can unlock the lockers ?? Management does not want to take any responsibility whatsoever,People from management told me ”Why did I take my belongings with me to the centre ? “ Absolutely disgraceful and unacceptable behaviour.
We are very sorry to hear about your experience at Keilor Leisure Centre. The safety and security of our patrons' belongings are extremely important to us.We understand your concern about the security of the lockers. Our lockers are designed to provide a secure place for personal belongings when used correctly, and only management has the ability to also unlock them. As stated in our conditions of entry, the facility accepts no responsibility for lost or stolen items. We encourage all patrons to keep valuables at home whenever possible.Regarding your specific case, if you have reported the incident to the police, please be assured that we will fully cooperate with their investigation. We take all reports of theft seriously and are committed to assisting the authorities to resolve this matter.
Negative experience: Don’t try to contact the operations team, they don’t care about your feedback or concerns. I emailed guest experience regarding an issue and no reply. After I sent another email, apparently the Operations team were forwarded my email, but never replied. My issue is the number of bees on the lawn due to the long grass and for staff to issue a warning to patrons. I was stung by a bee as I walked in the grass. This is the email I sent in mid January. Still no reply. Today I was at the outdoor pool and as I was walking through the grass I was stung by a bee on my foot. The lady administering the first aid said it’s happened a few times to patrons due to the length of the grass. I suggest that the grass either be cut more regularly or warning signs put up near the grass area to let people know to be careful when walking through the grass. If I had of known , I would have been more careful
Hi Rebecca - thank you for providing your feedback. The lawns have an ongoing schedule where they are cut every 3 weeks.
Fantastic experience: Truthfully, as a parent of a child with ASD it takes planning. The mental load can often be the thing that breaks me. Thinking, planning, preventing, pre-empting and the plot twists. For me, it’s all about calculating his level and where he is at, watching as things add to his load and watching him relax as things become less. It’s a huge mental game at the best of times. I just want the best for my son. I guess usually the thought of a loud pool with the echoing of excited children and splashing would be something I wouldn’t often consider, however I know that water is great for him and he enjoys it. For us to have a success it’s all about the layering and expectations. Layer 1, talk to him about what we are doing today and give him a slower morning and breakfast. Layer 2, use Cérge as I was able to show Seth the Keilor East Aquatic Centre on the Visual Story, I showed him the car park, the entrance, the reception and the pools. Layer 3, prepare him to leave and explain to him I am letting the pool know we are coming. I put in the “Must Know” that it is VERY important not to bombard Seth with long conversations and questions but he does love a “hello” and smiles. This part is SO important for me because it’s this part that will get us to Layer 4 and a home run for the outing or it will take us all the way back to zero. Being able to share this information meant that I was much more confident in getting through reception with a happy child. Often staff try to do the right thing by talking to him because they don’t have the insider knowledge to say “please don’t”. When we arrived at Keilor East, we were greeted and efficiently moved through the payment process. Everyone was pleasant. it not over the top which was perfect. Yes they were at tad busy at the counter upon arrival and yet they were lovely to deal with. The staff explained swimming lessons were occurring but there was an outdoor pool that was quite and not too many people so we could enjoy a swim without too much noise. Layer 5 done for me! Explained, efficient and quiet place! My anxiety was so much less on this outing just because I felt like I had back up, like a silent mum army behind me. I’m so glad we decided to attend again and used Cérge, we had a great experience and look forward to many more visits like this one! We ended up home, fulfilled and smiling! Home run! Thank you
We're so glad to have establised our partnership with Cérge, and been able to see first-hand the positive experience that it has made, and continues to make for families, individuals and carers of those with specific accessibility needs. Ensuring that our facility continues to be a place where everybody feels welcomed and supported is important to us, and Cérge is a big part of assisting us to achieve that.
Fantastic experience: Very friendly staff
Hi Brendon - thanks so much for your 5-star rating. We are really lucky to have such an incredible team of people here at KELC in every single department - from Guest Experience, to Health Club to our Lifeguards and Duty Managers. We hope you continue to have great interactions with our team every time you visit KELC.
Negative experience: The 50 metre outdoor pool is to hot for lap swimmers spoke to the staff and they claim they are having trouble controlling the temp, this has been an issue since opening have emailed the Managment Dont bother getting back to me. The hottest outdoor pool in Melbourne
Thanks for your feedback. We've passed this to our operations team.
Negative experience: The outdoor pool where do I start such a let down compared to what it used to be 36 degrees Sunday afternoon Not inviting at all very small grass area No shallow end for kids Swimming lanes cover more than half the pool and no swimmers swimming in the lanes why wouldn’t they retract those lanes and lets us patrons have full use of the pool area I looked into becoming a member but there was only ONE group fitness room which was disappointing as it had a hard floor and I have knee problems I was told I could make use of this room when there are no classes and do virtual classes as it has a large TV I liked that idea because I could come at any time and when I tried to make use of this the space and do a virtual The room was occupied by children’s dance classes that aren’t member of the gym and don’t appear on the timetable So there goes virtual classes can’t do those either Management seem to be asleep at this centre
Hi Melanie - thankyou for sending through your feedback. Our lanes are allocated for swimming to ensure that they're not interrupted by recreational swimming, however we do adjust the lane allocations based on the needs at the time. The shallow end of the 50m pool is 1.1m. The shallow end of the indoor 25m is 1.0m. Kids are always able to swim in the pools under parental supervision as outlined in our Watch Around Water policy. This details that children 5yrs and under must be constantly supervised by a parent / guardian in he water with them and always be within arms reach. Children 10yrs and under can swim however parent / guardian must have a clear view of the child at all times. It's great that you have an interest in self-paced fitness through the Virtual system, and yes, whilst we do have timetabled virtual classes, it is available to be utilised outside any timetabled classes, however, it appears that the staff member you spoke to may not have been aware of the Dance Society classes. The floor in the main group fitness studio was installed to be fit for purpose - if you feel it's too hard, and would exacerbate your knee problems, we do not recommend any high impact cardio training in that studio. You could always benefit from programs such as BODYBALANCE, Mat pilates, Yoga, as well as our Cycle / RPM classes as they are also low-impact. Additionally, you could also seek assistance with our Exercise Physiologist who would be able to create a program specifically for you and for you needs, taking in your physical ability and removing anything that may cause an issue for your knees. If you'd like to get in touch with our Exercise Physiologist, give the team a call on 9283-6402.
Negative experience: It is an impressive new establishment that caters well for adults but is a poorly designed swim pool for kids. If you are looking to take your kids out for a play and a swim this centre is underwhelming. The area designated for young kids to play is the smallest pool in the leisure centre. When you look to use this area, it is mainly used for swimming lessons and hence off limits. The mini indoor water park is great for summer but in winter and colder days is unutilised as the kids find the water too cold. We frequented the establishment prior to the upgrade to use the outside kiddie pools and large outdoor areas shaded by trees which was perfect for a family picnic. Unfortunately these areas have been replaced by a single 50meter lap pool and limited shade. Overall the centre upgrades look amazing, they cater for the teenagers to adults age groups however unfortunately lacks the infrastructure for young families and kids to utilise as they previously did.
Hi Philip - thanks for your feedback.
Fantastic experience: Fantastic pools and kids play area, we love the teachers and enjoy attending the gym ourselves and doing classes. The staff are always friendly and say hello when we come in the door and the centre is nice and clean. Car park can get busy so plan your time but other than that highly recommend.
Hi Neena - thanks so much for your 5-star rating and review of your experience at KELC. We are thrilled to have such a fantastic team of people here across every single area of the venue. We hope that you continue to have such great interactions every time you visit KELC.
Fantastic experience: Great place, friendly staff and amazing instructors, always walk out with a smile on my face when leaving the centre
Hi Andrew - thanks so much for your 5-star rating and feedback. We are so lucky to have such a great team of instructors - we hope you continue to always have great experiences here at KELC so you always leave with a smile on your face. :-)
Fantastic experience: I came in with my boy this afternoon and lose my glasses somewhere, I cannot drive home without my glasses. The staff name Croplot and her manager are both very helpful and I found it at the end. Big thanks for them will come back for sure.
Thank you so much for your 5-star rating and feedback on your experience with our staff. We're so glad that you were reunited with your glasses.
Negative experience: Absolutely disgusting service. I came in with food for my niece who can not eat just anything. They wouldn't let me bring food in. They are special food she can eat. Will not be coming here every again. After paying we had to leave and go else where.
We do apologise for the inconvenience that this has caused you it would have been helpful to know in advance of your niece’s strict dietary requirements. When you arrived with a large pizza box, we were unaware of any specific dietary requirements, nor did you inform any members of our team at the time. We do appreciate your feedback and are open to addressing any concerns directly. If there’s a way for us to help resolve this issue please contact our Venue Manager - [email protected]
Negative experience: I cannot express how utterly infuriated I am by the appalling treatment my family and I received at Keilor East Leisure Centre. In an inexplicable turn of events, upon my sister's brief exit and return, the staff not only demanded she repay the entry fee but physically obstructed her from re-entering. This unfolded as I desperately pleaded for understanding, highlighting that my nephew, who has autism, was enduring heightened distress and I needed immediate support. The customer service representatives response was nothing short of enraging - lacking empathy, delivered with an overtly rude and authoritative tone. Despite my urgent pleas from inside the pool, the duty manager reluctantly allowed her to stay without payment, but the damage was done, leaving us feeling utterly devalued. This infuriating incident, coupled with the the manager's repeated insistence on "no pass outs" signs, reminiscent of a nightclub's policies, is beyond comprehension. As if this wasn't enough, when I needed to leave briefly to retrieve an item from my car, I was told I'd have to pay again to re-enter unless it was a medical reason. This demand was utterly bizarre. Granted permission to leave, upon my return, they blocked me from entering and called me over to the front desk, insinuating an issue. The customer service representative claimed, "Earlier you mentioned that you needed two people to look after your nephew." I was dumbfounded. I explained that earlier, i needed assistance because my nephew was having a tantrum, which had subsided by then. This unbelievable treatment led me to pack up my family, and we promptly left. It's mind-boggling how Keilor East Leisure Centre staff act like police officers for the local community council pools. Perhaps they should consider a career with Victoria Police, as their authoritative and inflexible approach is better suited to law enforcement than a community leisure facility. Regrettably, my decision is final: I will never subject myself to Keilor East Leisure Centre's disgraceful treatment again. This incident has not only tainted our experience but has also raised serious concerns about the lack of transparency, inclusivity, and a customer-oriented approach at this facility. I implore the management and council to conduct a thorough review of this place!!!
Hi Hanan,Thank you for sharing your experience at Keilor East Leisure Centre. We take all feedback seriously, and I'd like to address the concerns you've raised.Regarding your sister's situation, our records indicate she left the center without requesting a pass-out, prompting the staff to ask for repayment upon her return. In a busy environment, it's challenging for our team to remember every individual, and we appreciate your understanding of this.I understand the frustration with the no pass-outs policy, and I apologise if it caused inconvenience. The signs are displayed throughout the center to communicate this policy, and our staff conducts headcounts to manage entry and exit efficiently, especially during peak times.During the 25 minutes your sister was outside the facility, there was a staff changeover, making it challenging to verify her prior entry. Our team explained the no pass-out rule, and unfortunately, they encountered verbal abuse from both your sister and yourself. The claim that two people were needed to assist the child conflicted with observations of independent swimming throughout the day. Additionally, when you left the venue for almost 10 minutes, we observed you walking around the car park on the phone, which seemed inconsistent with the need to quickly retrieve something from the car. We value your feedback and are committed to providing a positive experience for all patrons. If you have further concerns or would like to discuss this in more detail, please feel free to reach out directly.Thank you for bringing this to our attention.
Positive experience: Great facility, great indoor water park for young kids and one of few outdoor pools in the north / west. Unfortunately there was a young girl working behind the counter who wouldn’t give me a pass out to get something from my car which was ridiculous. I said to her “if I forgot medication or an asthma pump in the car or an epipen you won’t let me go get it”. She said no. I was absolutely dumb founded. Her lack of empathy was disgusting and highlights a problem with this world. Common sense and empathy go a long way and clearly management haven’t figured out an easy way of managing pass outs?? Luckily the security guy, with common sense and understanding came and found me and let me out and in again. My friends and I will never go there again because of this but I really do hope management work through a better way of doing this.
The venue has a standard 'no-passouts' policy that was implemented as part of our approach to extreme heat days during summer, and days where the venue experiences lockouts from being at capacity. The staff member should have allowed you to go and grab your medication from the car, but in a medical situation, we would have an available staff member escort you to your vehicle in case you require medical attention. Our team are all first-aid trained, but it's always best practice to ensure that you always bring your medication with you into the facility. Thank you for providing your feedback, and for us to use it as an opportunity to further educate and train our team.
Negative experience: I've been a member at EKLC for nearly a year now and whilst the facilities are great, I, along with other members have noticed, there is an issue that's is becoming progressively more common on a weekly basis. Whilst a lot of patrons are following the centers rules, too many people are exiting the sauna or steam room, full of sweat and jumping straight into the rehab pool without showering. This is quite disgusting and disturbing, not to mention the impact it has on pool hygiene. This issue could be eliminated if bigger signs were displayed and staff would police and reinforce to the offenders that they need to shower before entering the pool. Unfortunately most staff are very young and are easily intimidated making it uncomfortable for them to make people aware when they are doing the wrong thing. Management needs to address this issue make it enjoyable for everyone not just those who don't care about hygiene.
Hi Domenic - thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback. This is something that we have been aware of and addressing with patrons. We've provided hygiene awareness communications within the venue, in our email communications, on our social media channels. We've implemented signage specifically highlighting these issues, however there are always going to be people that completely ignore those rules. Unfortunately, we also can't have somebody to 'police' it all day everyday, and that is definitely not the responsibility of our Lifeguards - they are there to keep their eyes on the pool. We have Duty Managers that are always available to speak to people who are blatantly ignoring the rules of our venue, and we encourage patrons to seek out our Duty Managers to report anybody who is being disrespectful, breaking the rules, damaging property and / or anything that may cause a health risk to other patrons.
Fantastic experience: Great experience, wonderful aquatic set up Excellent service and product knowledge from Bree and Caitlin
Hi Brian - thanks for your 5-star rating and feedback. We're glad that you had a great experience with our team.
Negative experience: On arrival was told spa was not working so l pay general admission for my client who l take there every Tuesday after seeing spa was actually open so went back to desk ask how much to upgrade so my client can use spa she told me another 10.00 dollars onto of the 6.50 already paid bit steep for pensioner considering only cost 12 usually reception need smile once in a awhile
Negative experience: Centre is 4 stars. Management and maintenance is less than 1 star
Hi Augusto - thanks for your feedback. If there's anything specific you'd like to address, please contact [email protected]

Negative experience: Outdoor pool is very polluted, not clean the side walls.
Hi Arif - thanks for your feedback on our outdoor pool. It has been closed since the end of may and will reopen mid-September.
Negative experience: Sauna always breaking down have just become a member very disappointed
Hi BillIt is certainly frustrating for us as well as it's been an ongoing issue so we can certainly appreciate and understand your disappointment! We know how much of an inconvenience it is when it's closed, and thank you for your patience during these times. It's also worth mentioning that as a MOVE member, you also have access to Ascot Vale Leisure Centre as well, so you can utilise the sauna there as well anytime ours is offline.
Fantastic experience: Excellent swimming teachers. My 6 year old girls love this pool.
Hi Gaelle - thank you for your 5-star rating. We’re very proud of our swim instructors as they continue to do a great job of giving little ones skills to keep them safe in water that will last them a lifetime!
Negative experience: Between parents taking kids to swim school and people going to the gym after work, good luck finding any parking at all.
Hi P T - we’re sorry to see that you’ve given our centre a 2 star review. Please let us know how you’d like us to resolve this for you.
Negative experience: Not what I was expecting new but less showers for a families not more options like east kielo one
Hi Ahmed - we're sorry to see that you've given us a 1-star rating. We're not quire sure what you were expecting from such a large community facility, but if you'd like to send through further info, please contact [email protected]
Positive experience: Great place for kids and adults. Have coffee and a snack and watch the kids swim. Great place.
Hi Anna - thanks for your 4-star rating and review. We hope that you continue to enjoy our kiosk and swimming facilities.
Negative experience: I just wanna say that for the 3 rd time this month the outdoor pool and the 25 meters indoor pool have been shut for some reasons this is unexceptionable everytime one excuse sorry if you can’t provide the service shut down and do the public a favour
Hi RossOur apologies for your experiences recently at the centre. We have been having ongoing issues with far all incidents which force us to close the impacted pool each time for approx. 30mins to allow for cleaning and chemical treatment. We’re also working hard to train new staff due to shortages and also educate the public on using waterproof swimming nappies as well as toileting their children regularly when at the centre. We understand that it is frustrating, and we’re doing out best to manage these instances.
Positive experience: Great setup . Using hydro pool there. Just some days water is cooler than it should be.
Hi Christine. Thanks for giving us a 4-star rating. We hope you’re continuing to enjoy our facilities here at KELC!
Positive experience: Nice swimming pool complex. One of the saunas was out of order and limited showers available at peak hour would be a pain.
Hi Ingrid - thanks for providing us with the feedback. It’s unfortunate that you happened to visit whilst the sauna was awaiting repair, but it’s since been fixed and has reopened.
Negative experience: Wanted to freeze my account, tried calling with no answer, tried using the app also doesn’t work, had to visit them and tell them i was trying to cancel for a week, they cancel from today not from a week since i was trying without taking any responsibility for not picking up the phone or the useless app. 0 customer service communication
Fantastic experience: Friendly staff always happy to help, some things take time to fix but thats just typical for a council facility. All in all its a great centre
Hi Fixit Frank - thankyou for your 5-star rating and review. We’re proud that we have such a welcoming and friendly team across all our departments. We hope you continue to enjoy your visits to KELC!
Positive experience: Nice and clean beautiful spacious swimming pool steam room and sauna but they need to update the spa jet is weak other Leisure spa is much stronger jet.
Hi RK - thanks for your 4-star rating and review.
Negative experience: The are so terrible , today is 32 degrees and they say there "open" but when me and my family got there it was closed be better Keilor!! I suggest sunshine way better and plus it has an outside pools. Very disappointed
Hi Melissa - we're sorry to see that you've given us a 1-star rating. Not quite sure when you turned up to the facility, however we have been communicating our daily operating hours across our social media channels, our website, our Google listing, and our email newsletters to ensure that situations like this don't occur. If you're not following our social media channels, we highly recommend that you do so that you can stay up-to-date on what is happening at KELC on a daily basis. If you're not a member, you can also subscribe to our newsletter so that updates will arrive directly in your inbox - visit https://movemv.com.auIt's also worth acknowledging that KELC does have a 50m pool, and our other site at Queens Park Pool also has a 50m outdoor pool. Negative experience: The facility is outstanding and i love to go cashually and enjoy. But they better hire right people. You have to wait 20 min to get inside and those who works in cafeteria are so slow and even dont care what they are doing.
Positive experience: Good 50m outdoor lap pool. Can get quite busy on hot days though if wanting to swim laps during the day. Could do with a pace clock on both ends of the pool.
Hi Gerard - Thanks for taking the time to give us a 3-star rating and some feedback, we appreciate it. We understand that lap swimming can be interrupted throughout summer when it's hot, and we have hundreds of people wanting to all use the facilities at the same time, or when we host school carnivals. We encourage lap swimmers to consider visiting the centre in the mornings and evenings when it's much quieter, and there's less disruptions around. Our daily lane bookings are also shared on our social media platforms as well as our website and are constantly being updated, so that the public can see in advance how busy the pools will be.Thanks for the suggestion of a pace clock - we'll forward this through to our management team for review!
Fantastic experience: Lovely complex, now that it has been re-built. Only thing missing is a waterslide and/or diving board - both of which were in the original complex. Like most kids, they want something more than to just "swim" or sit in the pool. That means having to go to Brimbank, Oak Park, Greensborough or Craigieburn for a fun day at the pools.
Hi Madame BeeThanks so much for your 5-star rating and review / feedback. It is unfortunate that the waterslide and diving pool weren't able to be included in the rebuild of the centre due to the sheer size of the facility, and the very limited land space available. We're incredibly fortunate to have everything that we currently have in such a beautiful facility, and offer as much as we do to the entire Moonee Valley community.
Fantastic experience: I am a member here and the facilities are so amazing. The pools are modern and very spacious allowing all sorts of aquatic exercises and customer service is amazing. Definitely will recommend to friends and family.
Hi Jennifer - thank you so much for your 5-star rating and wonderful review of our venue. We hope that you continue to enjoy everything that KELC has to offer and have a wonderful and safe New Year!
Negative experience: Facilities are nice however after a very unpleasant and unprovoked experience yestarday with a woman names “Kasey” I’ve decided to cancel my membership and my friend whom I brought to sign up has decided to take his money elsewhere. We were yelled at, we’re threatened by her to have security throw us out simply for waiting in the cafeteria area until our friend finished working out so we could buy a coffee. She was extremely rude, and purposefully arrogant and smug. People like that should not work face-to-face with customers/public.
Hi JusTryin'We're disappointed to see that you've given us a 1-star rating, but shocked and concerned on the review that you've provided of your experience at the centre. We're shocked and concerned from what you've mentioned and have been speaking to multiple team members who may have witnessed this confrontation between yourself and one of our team members. We are disappointed that this has caused you to cancel your membership with us. We've also brought this to the attention of our management team who's investigated your allegations further, and we'd certainly love the opportunity to speak to you about this to obtain some additional information. Please send your contact details to [email protected] ATTN Guest Experience Manager with your preferred contact number.
Fantastic experience: Wow! First time in since it’s been rebuilt. The place was a buzz with people of all ages. Clean, warm and inviting. Pools are amazing. Need to see the gums on my next visit.
Hi Antonio - thanks so much for your 5-star rating and glowing review. We hope that you're continuing to enjoy all the facilities of Keilor East Leisure Centre and keeping cool over this warm summer weather!
Positive experience: In general, this is a nice, clean and friendly centre. But, during summer/hot days it is a hell. Overcrowded, ignorant patrons disturbing swimming lessons, dumb adults with 3-yr-old behaviour etc. I guess this is common in most leisure centres.
Hi GavinThanks for taking the time to share your feedback. It's disappointing to see that you've given us a 3-star rating based on things that are generally out of our control such as the weather and the behaviour of other adults. We do appreciate it when it's reported to our team when other patrons are deliberately disturbing the peace, so we can then intervene, so we highly encourage you to report any future incidents, (especially around swimming lessons) to our Duty Manager who can then deal with the situation. We want to ensure that everybody has an enjoyable time at the centre, and it's frustrating when individuals actively choose not to respect that. We're sorry to hear that this has been your experience at KELC, and hope that it doesn't occur again so you can enjoy the facilities in peace!
Negative experience: Worst customer service, it takes forever to fix a simple problem They never answer their phones so don’t even bother The app always plays up Put my kid in swimming classes and then 2 months later cancelled and sent my child back to the previous swim centre we were at I wanted to like this one because it’s closer to home but not at the expense of my child not learning anything so I would prefer to drive further and get my moneys worth Not sure what intense training the swim instructors go through but the 1 instructor we had couldn’t even keep his class in check and time is money! Not sure if things are better now but this was early 2022
Hi SuziWe’re disappointed to see that you’ve given us a 1 star review. It’s difficult for us to respond to your claims of ‘worst customer service’ and taking forever ‘to fix a simple problem’ - you haven’t provided any details of what that problem is / was.As you’ve noted that this is all from ‘early 2022’, it’s disheartening to only hear about this now, when the year has passed and we’re unable to do anything about an issue from the start of the year - if it was an issue that was still ongoing, then yes, absolutely we could address your concerns. Our swim instructors are regularly doing up-skill sessions to ensure that they are continually developing both their students and each other, to create a better experience and learning environment.Whilst it’s sad to see you go without giving us an opportunity to discuss your concerns, we’re glad to hear that you’re child is continuing to develop their skills in the water.
Fantastic experience: The redevelopment is great. I hadn't been there since I learnt to swim as a child. Now with the kids sections, 24m indoor pool, 50m outdoor pool and warmer aerobics pool on top of that, it really does cater for everyone. The staff and lifeguards were great as well, so happy to take the family back there again.
Hi MatthewThankyou so much for your feedback and 5-star rating of KELC! It's certainly changed quite a lot since you last visited, and we hope that you and your family continue to enjoy everything that we have to offer for years to come.
Negative experience: This company, Belgravia Leisure, is awful. I've had nothing but trouble with Keilor East Leisure Centre since transferring from Ascott Vale Leisure Centre 3 months ago. A simple transfer turned into double charged (literally double charged for no reason), lack of communication, extremely hard to get management to return contact, & then a complete lack of customer care, a complete lack of common sense with what would have to be a very common occurrence. I have once fortnightly custody of my son. I work until 6pm, home at 6:30pm Mon- Fri. So I cannot take my son to swimming lessons during the week. I have one option- 11:30am Sat swimming lessons, which I can only take him to once a fortnight but have to pay a weekly fee of $18.70. So I'm paying twice the price. My solution was that I could use the pool facilities in the week that I don't have custody of my son, & have time to go myself. I can't go myself when I do have custody of my son as I need to get home, cook dinner, help him with homework, get him to bed. A swim membership costs $17 a week, so it's actually cheaper than what I'm already paying for in unused swimming lessons. Easy right? Nope. Apparently not. Oh well, years of being a customer at these leisure centres for swimming lessons has just ended. I will take my $ to a company that actually offers customer service!!
Hi Quince - thank you for your 4-star rating. If you have any additional feedback you'd like to share with us, you can email [email protected]
Fantastic experience: We came to the Centre about 4 mths ago for swimming lessons with our children. Both Bianca & Matt were so welcoming & friendly. Our children’s swimming progress has been amazing, to the point that they participated in the recent carnival with great results :) :)
Hi SofiaThanks so much for your 5-star review and review of our Swim teachers. It’s fantastic to hear that your kids are making such great progress in their lessons, and had a wonderful time at the MOVE Swimming Carnival! We’ll be sure to pass on the feedback to Matt and Bianca
Positive experience: I came to Keilor East Leisure Centre with my partner for a swim. Although the pool services are high quality, I was disappointed to find out that the outdoor 50m pool is not open for several months of the year whilst it is cold. I think this would definitely deter several people from signing up as members, as 25m is just too small to do good quality lap swimming. Nevertheless, I’m sure that this leisure centre would be more enjoyable during the warmer months of the year.
Hi Emily - thanks for your 4-star rating. The decision to close the 50m outdoor pool was due to it not being an environmentally sustainable option to keep it open and heated continually throughout winter. Once the weather warms up, and it reopens, it's beautiful for early morning swimming as the sun rises :-)
Fantastic experience: Our local pools at Oak Park was not open so we ventured to nearby Keilor Park pools to use the kids water playground. Unfortunately the playground was closed. Kids were disappointed. However the young gentlemen behind the desk kindly gave us free entry. We used the kids indoor pool. The kids had a great time. A clean venue with very accomodating staff. It’s our first time there but it won’t be our last. See you soon!
Hi Van - thanks so much for your 5-star rating and your feedback. We're glad that despite everything you still managed to have a great time at KELC with your family :-)
Fantastic experience: I am extremely impressed by how the learn to swim program is run. They took the time to carefully choose the right teacher to suit my daughters needs and made sure we both felt comfortable. The teachers are amazing and my daughter has come so far in the few short months we have been attending. Thanks so much team.
Hi Laura - thanks so much for your 5-star rating and feedback of our Learn To Swim program. Our team are great at what they do, and are all going through regular upskill and development to become even better at what they do, the skills they impart to the children, and the experiences that they provide. We hope that you and your daughter continue to have great experiences every time you visit KELC.
Negative experience: The management at Keilor East Leisure Centre must be a toxic and uncaring place to work in. An incident I witnessed recently caused me much concern that I had to come home and write this review. A staff leader was clearly harassing one of the swim teachers and it was very unprofessional. He looked visibly distressed by her comments. I felt sorry for the poor guy, as he looked like he was doing a great job.. I used to work in a toxic environment, so I guess I feel compelled to do something, hence this review. Hopefully, places like Keilor East Leisure Centre look at the way they treat their staff, otherwise they will lose customers. I won’t be visiting again.
Hi SophiaThank you so much for bringing this to our attention. We weren’t aware of any incident such as you’ve described, so we would greatly appreciate if you could provide us with additional information so that we can properly follow up with the staff involved. Please send an email to [email protected] and attention to Venue Manager with as much additional information as possible including date / time / the pool you were in / descriptions of the staff members involved and any other relevant information that would assist our investigation. RegardsKELC Management
Negative experience: I have been a member at this gym for years but it’s time to leave, after a few unsatisfactory attempts to resolve some issues with management regarding their over priced membership options and flexibility with classes due to major injuries. Too many virtual classes, not enough instructors, group fitness floor has resulted in multiple injuries and feedback to management has been fruitless. Cleanliness is lacking. Non members just strolling in without paying. You’re just a number here. Don’t bother. If it wasn’t for the instructors they do have a whole bunch of us wouldn’t even consider this place. Manager I spoke to only had come backs to my concerns and didn’t really acknowledge anything I said except for the excuse of “world wide shortage of instructors”. I’ll be contacting council to take all of this further.
Fantastic experience: From the first swimming lessons I had as a literal baby in the 90s, KELC had held a special place in my heart for it’s wholesome community vibe and welcoming and fun facilities. My parents would come here and drop me at the crèche or pool while they did aerobics in extremely embarrassing outfits, loved the school holiday programs, going on my first ever water slide, those crazy diving platforms, cooling off on a hot day as a teenager with friends after school, swim carnivals, weekly learn to swim lessons, watching all the nonnas enjoying water aerobics, and even participating the insane school swim squads at 6am in the outdoor pool in the dead of winter. I was very sad to see the old centre demolished because of all those beautiful memories I had growing up. I worried that demolishing and rebuilding KELC would make it another victim of gentrification and that it would lose its soul. I could not have been more wrong. While the outdoor footprint and features of the new centre are certainly lacking compared to the old one, the new KELC remains the beating heart of our community. Some pros: - inclusive and accessible design features throughout the centre in both gym and aquatic areas. If you have a disability (whether physical or “invisible” like mine) you’re going to have a GREAT time! - Belgravia leisure do a great job managing the place - steam room, sauna, spa and hydrotherapy pool are cordoned off from the main area which makes it a great, quiet place to relax after (or before) a hectic day - child play area is engaging and fun for kids. It’s such a joy to watch little ones fall in love with the water. - awesome swim lesson program for all ages and levels - variety of classes in the gym to suit all levels of fitness and ability - great gym equipment and layout - friendly and genuinely caring staff who are always looking for ways to make the place even better - diverse and welcoming membership base: from nonnos in their 80s to young kids, and everyone in between. Some tradeoffs: - reduced outdoor area for sitting and swimming in summer (to be fair we were super spoiled before) - the placement and pressure of the jets in the spa could be better - (because the facility is so genuinely great) it gets hella busy at peak times, but even when it’s busy, you’re in lovely company Overall, the new centre is a huge benefit to our community that we can be proud of in Keilor East
Thanks Gabrielle for the 5-star review!(Josh)
Positive experience: The gym is mid
Hi David - Thanks for your 4-star rating. We think the gym is a very decent size, and has a solid variety of both cardio and weight equipment, however, it does tend to get busy pretty quickly during peak times. We're always looking for user feedback, so if you have any suggestions, or equipment recommendations, we'd love to hear it - contact [email protected](josh)
Fantastic experience: Clean n spacious.
Hi Tom - thanks for the great review. We're glad that you're enjoying the facility (josh)
Fantastic experience: Geart is very good to
Hi Nathan - thanks for the 5-star rating!(josh)
Fantastic experience: Absolutely brilliant
Thanks J Holmes! We think your 5-star rating is absolutely brilliant as well!(josh)
Negative experience: Hey there I’m wondering if is there cafe and food in this facility thanks
Hi EliassoWe’re sorry to see that you’ve chosen to give us a 1-star rating without any reason as to why.If you’ve had a negative experience in the facility, it would be greatly appreciated if you could provide us with the details behind your experience, so this can be provided to the Centre Manager and then addressed with the respective department(s).In regards to your query, yes, the facility does have a well stocked cafe with a range of grab-and-go items, and made-to-order items. We have access from the front side of the facility in the main foyer entrance as well as access from the pool side.If you’ve experienced any difficulties accessing the cafe, please let us know and we can address this with them.RegardsJosh
Positive experience: Staff are friendly. Good environment.
Hi Judy thanks for your 4-star rating!
Positive experience: Over all its good specially for kids.. but the spa? 2/10
Hi G HThanks for your review. Kids really love visit the centre and playing in the splash park!RegardsJosh
Positive experience: OMG Clean Friendly Efficient And variable areas to swim, Exercise and eat How impressive Miss Cassie and friends all extremely polite and helpful
Hi TomThanks for your review. We’re glad to read that you’ve had a positive experience at Keilor East Keisure! As you’ve given us a 3 star rating, it would be great if we could get some additional feedback on what prevented you from providing a 5 star rating so we can pass that onto our team. Please contact us at [email protected]
Positive experience: Love the pools n gym but way 2 crowded for a new place
Hi TammyWhat can we say? It’s tough being so popular! Glad to hear that you’re enjoying the facilities! It might be worth considering a visit outside the peak hours if you re wanting to enjoy a quieter and less crowded experience in the centre.RegardsJosh
Fantastic experience: It's a great great swim and gym centre but needs a dam good clean and maintenance needs to be done to fix problems
Thanks for the 5-star rating, Linda! We are aware of the cleaning and maintenance issues that are ongoing. As for the ‘problems’ that you’re referring to, please email the venue manager ([email protected]) with specifics so it can be followed up.Thanks(Josh)
Fantastic experience: I joined the leisure centre mainly for swimming. I must say that it has state of the art facilities and a world class gym.
Hi Saqib - thank you for a glowing review and 5-star rating! We’re really glad to hear that you’re enjoying our facilities and being a MOVE member! (Josh)
Fantastic experience: The (some what) new facilities are fantastic. Can't wait to see the outside in the summer.
Hi Sean - thanks for your 5 star rating. We’re looking forward to opening up the outdoor pool hours in summer as well because it’s certainly a great place to enjoy a swim during summer!
Positive experience: Being a member for rehabilitation and that pool being used in particular ,it seems to be full of teenagers messing about, the amount of people I saw come and leave as they could not perform what they had intended due to this was disappointing and needs to be looked at,particularly weekends.
Hi BenYes we completely agree, and it is something that Council are also aware of. We’re currently in the process of working out the best way to address this and minimise the impact and inconvenience to the other patrons, because it’s a specific space that requires a calm environment. We are hopeful to be able to collaborate with Council on an acceptable use policy that we can implement in the coming weeks.Regardsthe Keilor East Leisure team
Negative experience: Have been waiting for some form of communication since October 15 - in regards to cancelling swimming lessons. I had previously called to swap the class but I had no call back to confirm. I have now decided to relocate elsewhere. Very frustrating as I am now receiving late payment emails even though I haven't attended the centre once.
Hi Laura - we're really sorry to hear that you've had this experience, and have forwarded this feedback to our Swim School Manager to ensure that this doesn't happen again in the future. (Josh)
Negative experience: Maintaince is very poor, 2 shower heads in 2 separate disabled shower rooms have been out of order for around 2 months now, and spending hours in the facility's today noticed 2 lifeguards flirting with each other instead of doing the job there paid to do.
Hi Stewart - thanks for taking the time to write a review for us. We understand your frustration regarding the shower heads - we’re aware that these are being stolen from various showers across the facility, and have made council aware of the problem.Regarding your comment about the lifeguards, we’d appreciate some further details so that we can follow up on this. Please contact our Operations Manager at the centre at your convenience.
Fantastic experience: Impressed with your pool layout. The 5 lap lanes at 50m. 2 lap lanes at 25m. A walking lane at 25m and a good sized play area. This layout provides for everyone. Your kiddie pools and play areas are well placed. I loved the 50m indoor lap lanes! Visitor from Geelong. (Go Cats)
Hi Mark! Thanks for your 5-star review! We're so glad that you had a great time visiting!
Positive experience: Would have given this place 5 stars but not sure about the logic with towels for steam and sauna rooms?!?!?! You sweat on the towel.. the towel gets wet and goes on the bench... I would understand if ppl were naked in there but so far everyone I have seen comes in with cloths on.. maybe I'm missing something..
Hi SamsonThanks for the 4-star rating. The reasoning behind requiring a towel in the Steam / Sauna rooms is for hygiene and helping to minimise the spread of germs and bacteria. A lot of other centers have this as a requirement as well. We also recommend that people shower regularly when using the Steam / Sauna rooms to wash off their sweat before returning into the rooms, and before entering and re-entering the pool.If you've got any further queries, please feel free to have a chat to the Duty Manager next time you visit!(josh)
Negative experience: Great looking place. But paid for myself and my child to swim only to enter have five minutes. They decided to close the kids park and pool area at 8. No signs and not informed by staff on entry. Cutting costs already. Well done Moonee valley
Hi Eve - we're sorry that this was the experience that you had. We do have the operating hours of the Learn To Swim pool and splash park on our website, which indicate that they close at 8pm and has been in place since we opened. We'd love to welcome you back to the facility for a free swim to make up for the inconvenience that you experienced. Please contact [email protected] with your details, and the team will take care of it for you.We certainly appreciate the feedback and will pass this on to the team, and will look at having some additional signage available as well.(josh)
Positive experience: Great facilities, clean and new and some nice picnic areas around the outside pool. The slide has been taken away due to too many old school injuries but doesn't take away from the place. #pools #melbourne #tomekreviews
Thanks for the review Tom. Hope that you enjoyed your visit to KELC.
Fantastic experience: I am a member here, and everytime I enter, exercise or when i leave its the same feeling each time... motivated, calm & excited all in one. I love the gym the hydro pool, the spa, sauna & steam room and on top of all that the staff are great and very helpful also. All in all just a great place to be.
Hi Jerome! Thanks for your 5-star rating and review. We’re so pleased that you’re enjoying the centre and all its facilities and seeing the positive impact it’s having on both your mind and body!
Negative experience: Great public place but maintenance is lacking. All of the family shower areas are missing shower heads, or the taps don’t work. Hasn’t been fixed for more than a month. The main pool has steps missing from the bars that you use to get out of the pool which could cause a serious accident if someone didn’t know. So put up signs where it’s not functioning.
Hi Sarah - thanks for your feedback. We share your frustrations and concerns as well! As this is a Council facility, the process for repairs and maintenance requires an approval process from Council, and we’re providing them with regular updates regarding maintenance requests. If you’d like to discuss this further, feel free to reach out to our Management team.
Negative experience: Never try and book a birthday party as know one will contact you and confirm date. I have called multiple times and keep getting told I will email my Manager and still no Response I have also emailed and there is also still no response The only reason why I have given them one star would be the girl on the desk was very apologetic on behalf of her manager but when a manager cannot be bothered responding to even a staff email it’s very disappointing I had to tell my soon to be 7 year old that his pool party is not going ahead and find a different venue I am very disappointed on the Service that has been provided
Hi MichelleThank you for bringing this to our attention.I’ve followed this up with both our Guest Experience and Aquatics Managers and both have tried calling you multiple times and have left messages, including today. We can also see that we haven’t received any emails from you either. As we seem to be unable to contact you via the mobile number you’ve provided, we suggest that you contact us via email - [email protected] so our team can help you to arrange your birthday party.RegardsJosh
Fantastic experience: Quality built new facilities. Heated pool is huge, good temperature & has very useful spa jets on the edge. Entry ramp is long & getting into the pool is easy. Change rooms note are heated with ample space. Showers are timed. Car park has easy entry & spaces are plentiful. Valued community facility.
Thanks for such a great review, Sharyn. This is a great summary for anybody else in the area wanting to visit us for a swim!(Josh)
Fantastic experience: The renovations to this place is amazing. There is disability accessibility pools as well as hoist machine in bathroom. Hydro pool is at good temperature and love how it is in it's own enclosed area as when there are lots of children around it can get loud. Outdoor pool is nice for a dip when it is warm outside. Staff all seem to be friendly and nice.
Hi Cindy - thankyou for your 5-star rating and review! Having accessible facilities is great for so many of our visitors, allowing them to get in and out of the pools with much more ease. We're really glad that you're enjoying the Warm Water Pool (hydro pool) and it's enclosure. It was important to ensure that there was a quieter space to allow for relaxation without all the noise, and allow people to enjoy their hydrotherapy.Looking forward to having you visit us again!(josh)
Fantastic experience: I was told the outside swimming pool close at 8am and reopen at 4pm, it’s winter now, I suppose the schedule may be different in other time. Also the sauna is well maintained, people bring other towels with them keep the bench dry. Need to mention that the temperature of the shower is adjustable which is awesome.
Hi Weijie - thanks for your 5-star review! Hope you continue to enjoy your visits to the venue.Josh
Fantastic experience: Excellent facility. 50mt outside pool and 3 internal pools suitable for children, and learn to swim individuals. One indoor pool is quite warm and can be used by elderly and disabled people for exercise. Combine the pools with a gymnasium, a cafe a library and personal facilities makes it an excellent and comfortable exercise and fitness medium.
Hi Walter - thankyou for your review - we couldn't agree more! We love the venue, and love seeing everybody enjoying every area available. We also have a cycle studio and small group training studio next to the gym, and upstairs we have a wellness studio which features Reformer Pilates, and a main Group Fitness studio with a huge timetable of classes, including Virtual Les Mills classes. If you haven't tried a group fitness class yet, it's something worth considering, or perhaps even an aqua class! We hope you continue to enjoy your visits to Keilor East Leisure Centre!(josh)
Fantastic experience: Nice
Hi Sait - thankyou for your 5-star rating!(josh)
Fantastic experience: Great new facility: long time coming. Group fitness pilates/body pump motivated my joining this brand new centre. Fantastic professional instructors, with great equipment and excellent all round experience.
Hi Pi2Lee - thanks for the 5-star rating and your feedback! It did take a while to rebuild and re-open, but we definitely feel that it was well worth the wait. It's great to hear that you're enjoying our group fitness classes as well - we have a fantastic team of Instructors across the board, so when you're ready to try a new class, you're definitely going to be in good hands!(josh)
Fantastic experience: Top leisure centre, very new, great facilities and good crowd of people.
Fantastic experience: Awesome pool, loved it
Hi Vernon - thanks for the 5-star rating! Glad that you're enjoying the pools - looking forward to welcoming you again soon!(josh)
Fantastic experience: Newish pool and great facility. Modern and clean with a indoor water play and 50m outdoor pool. Waters a little cold but once you start working out the chill tends to go away.
Hi Alvin - thanks for your 5-star rating and review. The 50m outdoor pool and 25m indoor pool temp is set to 28-29 degrees, with the other pools temps approximately 32 degrees, but anytime it's noticably colder, we encourage patrons to always tell the Duty Manager so they can fix it. We hope that you continue to enjoy your visits to KELC!(josh)
