Whitlam Leisure Centre: Opinions
Fantastic experience: lost my wallet yesterday and a good Samaritan found it and gave it to the receptionist. Thank you
Positive experience: Plenty parking space available. The indoor pool water was warm and nice. Showers clean and organized.
Negative experience: Had 1 swimming lesson here and 24 hours later my son was sick with Gastro and my daughter had developed a skin infection that needed medicine. Filled out the cancellation request and never heard back. Tried to call 3 times now to speak to someone and can never get through. Chat Box on their website can't help either. Terrible experience
Fantastic experience: Checked it out Great pool warm inside lots of happy faces all the facilities you could want at a swim exercise jim
Negative experience: Useless to be paying for a weekly membership when the facilities aren’t working for weeks
Fantastic experience: Pools are clean also great showers and bathrooms.
Fantastic experience: Clean pool Warm pool Has a verity of water depths so I can enter Way better than Fairfield one Hi
Fantastic experience: Worth every cents, clean venue.
Negative experience: This centre run by Belgravia Leisure leaves much to be desired. They have struggled to provide warm pools for child swim lessons during winter, relocating students to other facilities in the area, NO HOT WATER in the showers after lessons resulting in my children getting sick and not being able to attend lessons the following week. There has been NO compensation offered, no discount on lessons due to facilities not being to a BASIC standard. To add insult to injury, the ventilation in the bathrooms and the cleanliness of the bathrooms is subpar. Needless to say I will be extracting my children from this centre and look to relocate them to a facility that is not falling apart at the seams.
Fantastic experience: Great place to book for Gujarati garba night.
Fantastic experience: Enjoyed gold total and line dancing.
Fantastic experience: Great family friendly facilities.
Fantastic experience: Went to Prime Physiotherapy. Benny the amazing and professional Physio
Fantastic experience: I recently had a knee replacement and attend aqua aerobics which is helping with my flexibility. The problem is the heated pool is no longer heated and too cold to use.
Fantastic experience: Good place for activities lots of parking available
Negative experience: Zero care on domestic violence or religious modesty. Kylie was more interested in self promotion than women's needs. She ignored our requests of being filmed while working out and then posted it on social media. I was in almost every frame. A woman I met at my new gym said the same thing happened to her. When I raised my issue with managers Hamish and Liz, they both blindly defended Kylie without any investigation or reviewing the footage. Nothing has changed, it appears she's still filming away.
Negative experience: Pools are extremely cold even though advertised as heated. Workers are extremely rude but it's a pool so I guess they don't need to be polite to customers.
Fantastic experience: Enjoyed the garba nights with Dandiya Queen Falguni
Fantastic experience: Come to the Whitlam Leisure Centre for the Hoops 3v3 Clinic during the school holidays was very happy with the centre the basketball courts are a must check out for young teens and the pool is great for all ages
Negative experience: Called this place 5 times, not a single pick up. Their website has a digital message support base that uses ai and if those generated message don’t respond, a worker can intervene, but there was not a single person in that online message system as well. Poor customer service and showcases poor staff responsibility around the place.
Fantastic experience:
Fantastic experience: Very nice big comfortable indoor pool especially for hydrotherapy if needed
Negative experience: They provide boxing classes yet they will not put a boxing bag in their gym.
Fantastic experience: Enormous space with ample parking, seperate from the swimming pool patrons
Fantastic experience: Thank you, Susan (my aqua Instructor at Whitlam) for your dedication and for creating such a positive and supportive environment. Your classes are the highlight of my week, and I am so thankful for all the hard work and care you put into each one. You truly make a difference!
Negative experience: I do not recommend getting any type of membership here. They will keep charging you and taking money from your account after you have cancelled. I have emailed and called Brooke Lord to attend to my matter last week. Yet again, another payment.
Negative experience: Contacting the Whitlam Leisure Centre is almost impossible, over the phone you just stay on hold and then get referred to the web chat. The web chat does not work as it is an automated response and then says that no one is available to chat, try phone again and again, it is just a circle. Yes, I tried during opening hours, the time i spent on hold it would have been quicker to drive the 20 minutes to the centre ask a question and then drive home again. Unfortunately, the Liverpool area does not have a lot of options for certain kid's activities, but for swimming at least there is Holsworthy or even Macquarie Fields.
Negative experience: I had to select one star to write the review but they actually deserve no star. I enrolled for adult swim classes and on my 1st lesson didn’t know where to go I approached the reception 2 times and wouldn’t know where to send me. I wasn’t happy with the service and I filled the cancellation form 2 months ago and I’m still being charged. I called them over 5 times and I couldn’t speak to anyone. I visited the centre to address the issue but as usual excuse that the manager is not available. A word of advice don’t supply your banking details to this centre as the will keep deducting from your account even though you have cancelled the membership. Worst experience ever never ever going back to centre again
Fantastic experience: great place good atmosphere and friendly staff
Fantastic experience: My favourite ❤️ lovely and friendly staff ❤️ thank you
Negative experience: The customer service is abysmal. Representatives repeatedly promise callbacks via the online chat platform, but it's now the fourth day, and no one has called. Several agents, including a lady named Mandy, have lied about this. Emails go unanswered, and direct phone calls are constantly disconnected with the excuse that agents are on another call. It's hard to believe that in Australia, such a large venue can provide such disgraceful service. Previously, there were direct email and phone call options, but now it seems like a scam.
Fantastic experience: Plenty parking. Easy access.
Positive experience: I was here for work and was not able to use the facilities. It is very well visited for many sporting events. There is a cafe here and they have good coffee. There is a very large room for all sorts of indoor sports.
Negative experience: Firstly non- existent customer service & secondly, always call to ensure their lockers are working. A month ago I visited the centre & their lockers where out of order. So a month later I called them again & guess what again their lockers are out of order. Quite careless & poor service . I can't wait till the new pool opens up here near Carnes Hill.
Positive experience: nice hall- went for an ISKA/NSKA tournament which was pretty good.
Fantastic experience: Two great swimming teachers YVONNE & WASHINGTON deserves 10 stars ... However , front desk staff isn't so friendly , seems like they don't want to be there.
Negative experience: The gym area needs an update, and the whole place needs a good renovation to be more modern to be more like Mounties with their pools, sauna, gym, lockers and everything else.
Negative experience: We had a bad experience. Went there with my 5-year-old son who is turning 6 in June, and 7-year-old daughter and 15-year-old niece. They all know how to swim. The receptionist didn't tell us at the time of buying tickets that I had to be in the water with My son knowingly I only bought tickets for the kids. Lifeguards kept coming back to me to say that I had to be in the water. I didn't have swimmers with me so I couldn't get into the water. We had to leave the pool. Kids didn't even get to enjoy it. It was a waste of money and effort putting kids into the pool and taking them out after a few minutes. Please train your staff to give proper information to the customers before taking money from them.
Positive experience: Great place to swim but always packed
Negative experience: People were vomiting in the pool. And they didn’t close it untill 4 more vomited.
Negative experience: Very humid inside. I'm not sure why the organizers of the Judo competition didn't arrange to turn the air conditioning on or at least the ceiling fans. Everyone was dripping with sweat and reeked of B.O.
Negative experience: Whoever I called up 12:04 pm 10/03/2024 gave me the wrong information with regard to whether the courts were open for casual shooting. Wasted my time going up and they didn’t compensate me for the time wasted. Very disappointed. I’ve had previous troubles with them so I try my best to not even interact with them. Courts are great and decently maintained. I’d recommend going if you want to practice.
Negative experience: I would give them a zero for ripping off people and forcing people to pay for one month to cancel the membership even if you are not able to attend. Very rude manager , poor customer service, soo rude , not a trustworthy, they create things just to rip you off and act like thy are the victim . Soo rude.
Fantastic experience: I have been going to the Whitlam centre every couple of days for two weeks I and I'm trying to lose weight but I have a disability and walking in the pool is pain-free. very nice. The staff are great very friendly when approached with questions. They have a small pool which is about waste height, a spa and sauna, all indoors, Undercover. they have outdoor pool and small pool. there is plenty of parking. there is a gym, split in a few different areas, for weights, for machine work. they have a room for fitness classes, it seemed very nice but I am unable to use those facilities due to disability. very nice place although it needs some maintenance.
Fantastic experience: Great place for swimming nice canteen food
Fantastic experience: Decent pools and spa facilities and sauna n gym
Fantastic experience: A great fitness centre to stay healthy such as gym , swimming, basketball, boxing etc.. With friendly staffs available to attain to your needs.
Positive experience: The gym has some old machines but they have the BEST trainers. Classes are quite good I must say compare to other gyms around.
Negative experience: Centre is big with ample parking and other facilities but few areas need urgent improvement. 1. Shower areas are not big enough to fit one person with soap, clothes. 2. No Privacy in the shower area 3. No hand soap in the disable toilet 4. Not enough family change room available for families We have been to many leisure centres and from my opinion, centres located in Sydney, Olympic park and inner west have better facilities then centres in the Liverpool and Macarthur region.
Fantastic experience: Great place for swimming & Training. The staff was great & always helpful. Its unfortunate that some unresponsible individuals vandalise the facility & then post bad reviews. Overall the place is great. Nice food area in the complex which is pretty cool. I am now a regular.
Fantastic experience: Really good to practice with Whitlam Leisure Centre. Swimming, Gymnastics, dance and more options for kids.
Fantastic experience: If Monday to Friday come before 4pm not to many people
Positive experience: Not bad centre, needs a little bit of an upgrade. Male showers need a bit of care, locks broken, shower heads not the best. But overall life guards plenty, abide by the rules. Plenty of parking. Experience overall is ideal.
Negative experience: Sport hall is definitely not designed for music events. Place is not acoustic and music sounds are distorted. Ventilation basic - open doors for a draft. I don't believe I will be attending the place for music concerts again.
Negative experience: Water quantity is not very good, bathrooms and showers needs to be cleaned
Fantastic experience: Great swimming facilities, pool was nice and clean. Staff were very nice and friendly
Negative experience: My experience today 28-12-23 was so disgusting I was breast feeding my daughter in the pool for half hour before the life guards had said anything so he said something I’m like okay I stopped feeding than he went and told 3/4 other life guards which one life guard had laugh So disgusting But than I got out walked bk over to the pool still breastfeeding my daughter not gunna get in the pool and a guard goes up to this blond lady and goes she’s feeding at the pool what a joke wasn’t even in the pool anyways all g than to be told we wasn’t aloud a floaty in the pool for a baby after I paid $34 for a floaty apparently it was to big for the pool Anyways the lady had told me I couldn’t feed as it was a hygiene thing okay I’ve done my research and use are pure disgusting Use have discriminated against me for feeding my daughter ain’t nothing wrong about it I’ll be getting in contact with the human rights commission as breastfeeding is not a issue but having all this kids in there without cloths and nappies on is and didn’t say anything to them till I said something my experience here was filth
Fantastic experience: Puedes ejercitarte ya que tienen gimnasio, y piscina para refrescarte y niños y adultos aprendan a nadar y a relajarse
Negative experience: One of the dirty place I have ever been the bathroom and the water in swimming pool was there are cockroaches inside the water was full of woman’s hair the floors was really dirty and disgusting, stay away from this place they just want your money nothing else
Negative experience: Poor customer service over the phone. I called five times to reschedule the swimming session and waited 10 minutes, but the staff did not answer the call. For each call, I was put on hold indefinitely. Very disappointing.
Fantastic experience: Good gym I do workout here! And Phil and Kylie are very good gym workers to greet! Washington is a cool lifeguard as he likes to greet people at the pools often I like to thank Top, Violet and Kearly for serving me food kindly at the canteen I would love to reunite my cousin Tao who works at the Gym hopefully I can take lessons with her sometimes as she invited me hahah
Negative experience: called up to book, booked in then when we show up, our courts are already booked by others and apparently you have to make a deposit on the phone. When we called we did not get told about a deposit to be made on the phone.
Fantastic experience: Visited WLC for a Christmas dinner with the Aboriginal Chronic Care Team and Santa! We had a great time and felt very welcomed from all the event leaders/elders. Thank you guys ❤️
Positive experience: Now where do I start? Firstly, the bathroom is filthy, biohazard level filthy. There should be a proper cleaner in there. NB. Life guards are not cleaners and they don't clean properly. The more mature adults that frequent the spa/sauna are extremely entitled and act like they own the place. They enjoy using the jet blaster located in the kids pool where they would spend hours massaging themselves. Its creepy, just turn the damn thing off. The outdoor kids pool should be used for the aqua physio therapy. Again, the adults attending these sessions get mad every time a kid goes near the ropes. Get over it, move outside where you won't be interrupted. The only good thing about this place is the swim lessons. I have to admit, they do teach the kids how to swim properly unlike some other places I've been.
Negative experience: Been going there for 3 years.Always somethings not working.I pay money but never get to use.Sona is always under repair etc
Negative experience: Very bad manager. Not organised at all. They took my $150 and not refunded. Talked to the manager and she said I’m late because if you. Swimming class are not organised. Poor customer service. Not recommended. Very disappointing.
Negative experience: The place itself and the Whitlam staff is very friendly/helpful But unfortunately can't say the same about their guests/visitors. Most don't have any idea the meaning of PUBLIC.. Especially in the sauna area where there are many signs regarding not to pour any water on the dry sauna rocks due health& safety reasons but most of the time turns into arguments between visitors cause many ignore the signs and risking the lives of people who has health issues Whitlam management should stop looking the other way and ignore the serious ongoing problem by those who are doing the wrong and take action by verbal warnings/banning those who take the joy out of other visitors who come to the centre to exercise/relax .. Unfortunately very disappointing by management Asians ruined the leisure center
Negative experience: A week ago after an arduous basket ball training, I went to the bathroom to get changed. Thats when I saw it . The smelly succulent brown steamy piece of defecation. If I could DNA test it to find the vile culprit i would, but unfortunately I am broke. I came back for another training recently and I was yet again mortified by the sudden change of colour of the excrement from brown to green. The repulsive smell has become so strong it caused hallucinations. I am currently seeing a therapist. The pools pretty good I cant lie.
Negative experience: The woman who owned the cafe or whatever u call it was very rude, she gave attitude and would look at me and my friends disrespectfully
Positive experience: Good size leisure centre with pool, spa, sauna, classes, etc.
Fantastic experience: There's so much available catering for lots of different sports; netball, karate, gym, swimming
Fantastic experience: Excellent place to exercise and kids friendly spot
Fantastic experience: Yeah crowded and had fun alot
Fantastic experience: As piscinas bem cuidadas e limpas, variados tipos de tamanho para todas as pessoas
Negative experience: جميل لكن الحمام سيئ جداً جداً جداً
Positive experience: It's always crowded but has some nice facilities and pools. Very family friendly.
Fantastic experience: A community place for all ages. Operated by council. The cheapest membership around for the whole place to use (pools, sauna, spa, gym, classes, basketball and soccer).
Positive experience: Lovely staff, my son and I been here quite a bit lately. Could be a bit cleaner though.
Negative experience: Very poor staff always manage to double book, slow workers, nets are not set up properly after being told, always dusty and never clean, has bird feces at the end of the courts, waste of money and time knowing they manage to always mess up the bookings
Negative experience: The service at the cafe are always so rude and never attend to the customers. They are always on their phones and don’t do their jobs. I am fed up with always coming here and not being treated with basic respect.
Negative experience: So much staff walking around but must not be many cleaners coz this place is filthy. It’s a shame because they have good facilities. They need someone monitoring the pool bathrooms and cleaning throughout the day. Gym and sauna also
Negative experience: literally the rudest staff i have ever met, all they do is give attitude and it’s actually really embarrassing. someone should teach them that their not on top of everyone
Negative experience: wow took son out to whitlam centre today and we put bag towels down at a spot as you do then a family of 7 asians came up moments later and physically stepped on our bag which had our phones and wallet in them and sat ontop of our stuff we then moved our bag and towels to another location and when we did they left that spot within seconds,so our bag/towels were now in another spot and 2 maori women sat 2 plastic chairs over our bag squashing our stuff witth the leg of the chair my wife approached and asked them to get off our bag and they replied its only on the corner of the bag so my said so yyou knew you were damaging someones things and still didn't care so we moved our bag/towels a second time over to the woodern chairs indoor near the kiosk we started to swim and then noticed that someone had literally put their towel on our bag my wife again went to move our stuff for the third time and myself my wife and other bystanders saw the fijian woman lifting her towel off our bag and started to tryy and go through our bag i yelled to my wife hey shes going through our bag so i got out of the pool and her fijian husband usher her to another area of the centre to look for other stuff to steal it was a horrible day that has never happend to me before at the whitlam centre the centre pool side on weekends is literallly filled with thieves, i wanted to give zero stars but you have to give at least one to post a review
Positive experience: Staff were great. Pool is a little run down from its peak. Don't expect the whirlpool or similar features to be active.
Negative experience: The gym is bad water leaks from the roof equipment is always broken aircon is never on or working and the actual staff stare at you and make you feel uncomfortable they have classes in spots that means you have to abandon what your doing or you have to not use the bench because the class uses the bench as a water bottle resting area. (if you make a complaint they ignore it and dont get back to you). now the pools life guards that dont actual watch the pool and security is nil we had to move our bag 3 times because of people stepping on it or putting chairs on it or then there was a lady putting her stuff on mine then trying to go through our bags. today they had the drop of area blocked off and called vip parking this is where people with disabilities get dropped of and picked up but instead they had to walk far distances
Positive experience: The pool is very dirty on the bottom you can see when you dive in. Bathrooms and shower rooms have broken locks. Pool temperature is well maintained. Life guards are alert.
Negative experience: Staff member Grace is shockingly rude and was backed up by manager on that day and refused to acknowledge the rudeness and not even an apology for their inability to do their jobs, or for lying about it and being caught out. Truly disgusting and would recommend avoiding this place if possible.
Fantastic experience: This place is my favourite for Indian festivals or shows. Although far but ample of space. You just need to be little early to get the parking.
Negative experience: When the pools were new, they were excellent. Swing rope, diving, all toilets working, kids slide, lots of water features and water jets. Disappointing to see how over the years they just shut everything down and whole place looks run down. Broken pool tiles, Broken tiles, no water features, no slides, no diving, basically they took away everything fun. Avoid these pools, go elsewhere. Not worth it. Better off going Miller pools or Olympic Park.
Fantastic experience: I use the bottle and can recycle unit around the back of the basketball hall. Very useful as it is opened untill 10pm , but if attending late at night take a torch there is no lighting there but easy parking and usually not busy
Negative experience: Do not sign up The membership is the biggest lie $19 a month ends up being over $100 a month due to "debit failures" meanwhile the funds are deducted then returned. Dirty locker rooms Dirty muddy floors in the change rooms by the pool Broken seats on the machines Broken machines
Negative experience: Why no one is talking about the fact that everyone is going in the pool and sauna with their clothes or shirt or even vail on! Im sorry for this, but we didn’t sign up for this, if you want to wash your shirt or cloth you need to use a laundry! The sauna is disgusting and the water literally is dripping from the ceiling, the pool is awfully disgusting and no body is ever talking about the fact that the water is always cold! So much to talk about, also and very carefully you need to watch your bank transactions, they will charge you over or double a week and if you did not pay attention to that then it’s on you. This place needs to be renovated fully and rebuild again with fresh new staff.
Negative experience: Poor communication. Cancellation of booking 30 mins before our booking time. They did not let us know till some of us have arrived. This has happened 2 weeks in a row now. Terrible management. Please review this otherwise you'll lose your customers.
Negative experience: Absolutely the worst to get a refund and I'm still chasing these guys to get a refund for the extra unauthorized payments they made. The pools are dirty and the staff are clueless and they don't take ownership of the problem instead they simply deflect to another person.
Positive experience: Place is nice, bathrooms could be cleaner. There needs to be real padlock lockers in women’s bathroom of pool area. The money one is not ok as it’s always malfunctioning. Also when they renovate they really need to put up a wall between kids pool and indoor heated lap pool.
Positive experience: Gym is good but aircon is not working but they have this weird device that sprays you with cold air so a good resolution. Helpful trainers and good equipment they have lots of great free classes you can do. Gym is relatively cheap and would recommend to anyone considering it.
Negative experience: a day ago I had a very bad experience for the first time for the past 9 months. Im a support worker, and I've been coming with my client to the pool to support him and help him change his clothes and get him ready for his session to do hydrotherapy with his physiotherapist. One of the receptionists asked me for proof that i am his support worker. She was very rude. Never had this problem for the past 9 months. Mr Basheer al mutair his an NDIS participant, and he was very upset because we never had this issue before. The receptionist was Alyssa, blond wearing glasses. She needs to be more polite and respectful
Negative experience: Took my small 5 children there yesterday for a swim. Paid $30 to get in only to see that the pool inside was closed for cleaning. So if the attendant knew that why didn’t he tell me before I paid? They said it will be ready to use in 10 mins. Only to find out from the lifeguard that it would probably take more then that. Was there for two hrs! The eating area is filthy, and old men hog the spa! Never again! Yuck!
Fantastic experience: My 2 boys have been attending swimming lessons here at goswim, since February. My 18m was nervous and cried during his first lesson. But he just needed a few weeks to settle in. He loves swimming with his coach Miss Tina. As he is in starfish 2 they sing fun nursery songs, seahorse with a pool noodle, crocodile jump, Humpty dumpty, float like a pancake, hanging monkeys, bath toy activities etc. We have the same coach weekly my son had learnt alot from Miss Tina, she is amazing during the lesson and very engaging. We have also met the other coaches and my son responds very well to them too. My 5yo was scared of the pool and the beach and always wants to be carried in the water. Since attending his lessons he's becoming more confident in the water with floating and kicking and also doesn't need a swim vest, he just uses a pool noodle. If you pay for swim lessons you are also allowed to swim out of lesson times, which we usually do. The staff are always friendly and the lifeguards take their jobs very seriously. There is a very friendly lifeguard named Washington, he always has a smile on his face and makes us feel welcome. There is real sense of community when we attend whitlam, they offer different services to all types of people and ages. The front office staff are helpful, we were sick 2 weeks in a row and I supplied medical certificates to receive a credit for the swim lessons which Mary was happy to process with no issues. The centre is older, but it is clean and children pool is heated. . They are closing the pool for renovations for 3 weeks we are excited to see what it looks like when it reopens! We love swimming at whitlam!
Negative experience: It's alright, however you can find better swimming facilities nearby. Also here, if you want to cancel your membership then at least 20 days (or more) notice period meaning the centre will still deduct your fees till that period of time regardless you are going or not. I have not experienced notice period 20 days plus as a policy, secondly you are paying it an extra amount as well.
