Negative experience: The facility itself is great, cant say the same about the management team. I used to see some NDIS clients in the warm water pool but can no longer afford to due to new prices & policies introduced by management. Despite reaching out many times, they've refused to compromise and have put profits ahead of serving community members. I reminded the management team that this is the only accessible warm-water pool in the southern peninsula region, and they are the only organisation I know of that has introduced fees as high as theirs with policies that make it difficult to continue to access the facility.

Positive experience: Unfortunately not 5 stars. My first swim not great when a senior staff member was rude when I tried to buy 10 visits by wanting my email and phone number. When I refused and asked why I was abruptly told the system requires it and they are not there to argue. I said I'm not arguing im just asking a question. Awkward ! Why would I trust my email and mobile number to go into that system and be safe ??? Yet paywave works fine for one swim. With the pool surround in sections is extremely sharp exposed agrigat,making walking barefoot an uncomfortable experience. Contractors should be called back to grind down to the correct code /texture,inspect and repair the cracks. Take some notes from Hastings. Staff poolside are fantastic 10/10. Cleaners and actual cleaning 10/10. Change rooms are small for the size of the establishment. 8 people and it's uncomfortable. The lack of parking can be a nightmare. Hastings by far is a much better set up re: change rooms, parking. Both Yawa and Pelican actual swimming pools are great though.

Regarding your experience at reception, we apologise if our staff came across as abrupt - that was certainly not our intention. While we do require basic contact details like email and phone number to set up a multi-visit pass (as our system also tracks health and safety information, and sends receipts), we completely understand if you'd prefer not to share that information. A casual visit without account details is always an option.

We appreciate your comments on the poolside staff and cleanliness — we’ll be sure to pass that on to the team.

As for the pool surround and change room feedback, thank you for bringing this to our attention. We’ll review the surface texture and cracks with our maintenance team and will take your suggestions on board regarding the change rooms and parking as we plan future improvements.

We do hope you’ll give us another chance to provide a better experience next time.

Negative experience: Firstly, I would like to make note that I’m a member of YAWA and have been a member since the start of YAWA’s opening. The countless times I’ve have encountered such rude mannered and bitter attitudes by a receptionist these past few visits has now left such a negative taste on what I thought the standards of YAWA should hold.

Negative experience: All Reception staff but about 1 lady are extremely rude, I come here with a client weekly and reception will blatantly ignore me whilst waiting to ask if I can be let upstairs to wait for my client as she is intellectually impaired and needs me to be with her. They are extremely unapproachable and impolite making me feel like I just want free access to their gym facilities which is untrue. Unfortunately this isn’t the first time I have seen them act this way with one lady treating my client like she was dumb and stupid instead of with the respect she deserves due to having a disability. It’s a real shame that most of the reception staff are like this because all other staff are lovely and the facilities are great

Negative experience: I had an extremely bizarre interaction with a staff member in the pool area today. I won't repeat what was said to me as honestly there could be children reading but it was in regards to the swim suit I was wearing. Honestly, really weird that she was looking at me so closely and I feel really uncomfortable going back. There aren't many women in the hydro pool/sauna area and I wonder if this is why.

Negative experience: Had a pretty disappointing experience today at this facility. Came down for a swim with my wife and daughter (6 months old). My daughter and I went in the water, however she wasn’t that keen on it, so we decided to get out and get her changed. I decided while we were there that I would use the warm water facilities (as I’ve previously had a back operation, so use it as part of my ongoing rehab). I went out to reception as I wanted to confirm that the fee I had paid covered access to this area as well. The lady at reception charged me more thinking I wanted access to the steam and sauna room (which was an honest mistake and she offered me a free pass for next time to cover the extra charge, so that was all fine) I went into the warm water pool and my wife and daughter were sitting off to the side (we didn’t want to take my daughter into the pool, I was the only one in the water). Within about 2 minutes they were told they weren’t allowed to even be in the room. This wasn’t mentioned at reception and they were made aware that we were together as a family. So in order for me to remain in that area my wife and 6 month old would have to sit outside by themselves. Just not a great experience, didn’t feel very inclusive for a young family.

Negative experience: You cannot navigate the switch board to speak to a person. They have increased my membership without my consent and I cannot speak to a person twice I was cut off this is a joke.

Negative experience: Great gym, pool and facilities but horrendous external finance department. Paused my account for 7 days which should be $5 but they have charged two lots of $5. Due to only using that account for YAWA payments, the extra $5 caused me to not have enough for the normal payment that was due and it therefore declined resulting in their late fee of $14.95. They have ignored two emails from me about this and have taken the late fee of $14.95 due to their mistake. Really difficult to deal with and I’ve seen it’s happened to quite a few other people too. This is actually the second time this additional $5 charge has happened to me at the YAWA. I don’t know why they can’t figure out that one week pause = $5 pause fee, not $10.

Fantastic experience: Several weeks ago I thought I had my sneekers taken on a Sunday afternoon. I had used a differnt shower room after I did my exercise in the heated pool. I had undressed in a differnt showerroon and left them in that room. I reported them as stolened them?? Another client said he saw a pair in one of the shower rooms Catherine was so pleasant and searched for them and more importanly discovered them ,she was so pleasant and friendly and put me at ease. Negative experience: Loyal longterm customer here - literally every time lately me and my 7 yro are pretty much harassed by lifesavers falsely accusing us of stealing Yawa’s pool noodles. They are our OWN. Label your pool noodles with a Yawa symbol instead of having 16 yro lifesavers harass. I had one lifesaver looking like he was still in high school power walking towards me, pointing at me, making a beeline for me shaking his head in disapproval mouthing “nah ah-ah” comes up and says “did you take that pool noodle from the storage over there?”. I replied “it’s ours”. He says “Oh ok!” And laughs. No apology, no sorry for the misunderstanding. This is the fourth time atleast this has happened. I’m becoming avoidant of coming here now. Just leave me in peace to swim. I don’t cause anyone any disruption I don’t break any rules. I see others breaking rules not getting treated the way I have been! Also if I’m paying $12 for me and my son to exercise and actually swim (for therapy), I have an expectation that we will be able to do that but not possible when you only have 1 multi purpose lane open and there is about 20 kids playing ball, doing bombs and pin drops. 1 multi purpose lane is clearly not sufficient. Open 2-3 multi purpose lane so people that come here for therapy can actually swim without worrying that a 12 yro is going to do a bomb on you during your backstroke.

Positive experience: My nana had quite an unpleasant experience last night. Her friend asked the male 30 odd aged pool attendant for a noodle for the pool. She asked politely and said please. The pool attended then rudely requested that she say please again. Wow, just wow. There are many people looking for jobs atm. Perhaps this guy should get a job where his demands for his professional services are more appreciated. This rude pool boy didn’t even bring the noodle close to my nana and her friend. My nana is my world. She is beautiful and has finally plucked up the courage to get out amongst it and swim. Shame on you pool boy, show some respect to your elders. You get paid to be in service of Yawa’s paying clients. You are not there for an ego trip or boost. If I had have been there. I would have told you rightly where to go.

Fantastic experience: Very impressed with the support and care from the personal trainers. Recovering from a lower back strain, Dan and Zoe on separate occasions both took the time to assist me with exercises and offer expert advice on what suits my needs. They were so patient and helpful even when I didn’t have an appointment booked.

Negative experience: The run around this place gives our older generation is absolutely disgusting! They make it nearly impossible to cancel your membership. The fact that it’s a 30 day policy and not 7 days then offer a suspension at half the price for 6 weeks but you can’t do any of this on the app you have to go to the website but the website tells you to go in so you go in and they say no you have to email another department! This has been going on for 2 weeks and to find out that there are no managers there on a Sunday not even a 2nd in charge that can handle things is another irresponsible management move by this place! If I could give one star I would!

Positive experience: Entry was fast. They have friendly staff. The place was warm and have enough space for our group of a child and young adults. There s a Cafe and gym and entry for non swimmers or spectators was very minimal.

Positive experience: Good facility overall however I feel some lane etiquette is needed. On duty life guards should remind very slow swimmers not to swim in the fast lanes..,as a regular swimmer it can be very frustrating to be constantly held up. Alternately, maybe new lane signs are needed like in NSW pools eg: 1. Fast lane (freestyle only) 2. Fast lane (any stroke)

Positive experience: A lovely facility, but we waited over an hour for the aqua park to open as advertised, only to find that it was not going to open! It’s advertised to be open from 4pm- 7 pm Monday- Friday. A disappointment. Not sure how to find out when it’s open- but surely school holidays would be an obvious choice. If you’re planning to come here, don’t rely on the timetable!

Fantastic experience: Love this place for the kids also on school holidays the put in the inflatable course which the kids also love, and there's a state of the art gym upstairs with heaps of different courses running through the week and weekend, and the steam room and sauna with the rehab pool I awesome to wind down after work or your workout, get a membership you won't regret it.

Negative experience: Parking is terrible, drove off many times. Hot room- hot pool, spa ,steam room excellent. Kids play area is complete rubbish. My son doesn't want to go because it's all blocked off for swimming lessons and slides are boring and I agree, so much space and no fun. Most of the staff have some sort of power trip going and are extremely rude. Cancelled my membership.

Negative experience: $1 entry fee to be a spectator for the Masters, when every other small centre these events are held at (& larger including MSAC) have no fees, is BEYOND ridiculous. Do you charge $1 for parents watching their children too?

Negative experience: I'm very disappointed with YAWA Gym on the Mornington Peninsula. The facilities are OK, but the membership is overpriced and the customer service falls short. I had a particularly unpleasant experience with Alex, the Sales and Guest Experience Manager, who was rude and unprofessional. This is not the level of service I expected for the price.

Fantastic experience: My wife and I are members here and love the place with all its great features and friendly staff make it a joy to visit. The kiosk has great coffee and food with an open air type atmosphere. The only negative are some of the people that use the gym fail to wipe down the exercise machines after use, grots. It also needs a wifi & phone network that actually works.

Negative experience: The center is very new and clean but they are not set up for the community with no care for the local community members. I have been seriously injured in my back, in n out of hospital, doing rehabilitation to be able to walk again for the last few months and stuck in agonising pain and while I was busy recovering I had no income my accounts became overdrawn and I was preoccupied with my recovery to co tact yawa to cancley account. They kept charging me until it went up to $450 even though I had not been there in months and was on no notice contract they never tried to contact me to see what was going on they just passed the debt over to debt collectors to harass me and I am currently just getting back on my feet still unable to work for a very long time longer without hydro therapy I am supposed to be doing daily I am unable to access the center or start my membership until I pay off the 450 which will takes months of nothing but centerlink and only prolong my recovery and return to work. Meanwhile the only other pain treatment is medication so without hydro my life is seriously effected and I have tried to ask for assistance from Yawa but they do not care for the community members just profits so congrats to peninsula council for neglecting the people who need it and put taxes towards the building in the first place.

Fantastic experience: The price's are value for money. The change room's are clean and tidy. The staff is absolutely amazing, wonderful and friendly. They can help you out of you have a non-able person. They offer various gym and swimming lessons as well as staff for water exercises. What also makes it a great place, is the professional lifeguards on duty. Only downside is the parking and lack of shade for parking.

Fantastic experience: This place is very cheap to swim!!! For children it costs $5.30 and grown ups it’s a little bit more! The kiosk has good food and isn’t to pricey :)

Negative experience: Worst swim centre ever attended, great facilities, but they will continue to deduct monies from your account for months even after trying to cancel a subscription a number of times. Was very frustrating and we never got reimbursed for the money. It's a scam

Fantastic experience: Amazing splash and water adventure for kids!! Seemingly overwhelmed by large visitor numbers (in January school holidays mind you!) the front desk staff were unfortunately not forthcoming or helpful with info just wanting to pump ppl through the door as quick as possible rather than provide CUSTOMER SERVICE. They made no attempt to 'upsell' us a locker on entry, nor advice given on this (locker fob needs to be purchased at front desk) so once inside and changed (kids excited and chomping at the bit to jump in the water) you have to bundle the kids up and walk away from the pool, all the way back to front desk and line up again to buy a locker fob. One would imagine they would expect to be busy in school holidays and have their A Game pants on. Facilities were excellent so training staff to perform at that same level would do them wonders.

Fantastic experience: Fantastic water splash playground for kids. Adults are allowed to accompany them down the waterslide if needed. Lots of attentive lifeguards on duty. Lots of family change rooms (annoying that you need to push the shower water button every 10-15 seconds though). Staff at the front desk were very friendly and welcoming. Rented a locker for $2. Excellent value. Has a large hydrotherapy pool for over 16s.

Fantastic experience: Great swims had here recently (Jan 2024) while staying in Melbs for the tennis. Very different from any other aquatic centre but works well. 30.5 metre lap pool with crystal clear water and only a few lanes for lap swimming. Best to ring ahead of your visit to check availability. Excellent change rooms that have great showers ( pressure, temp, clean ) with good hairdryers & straighteners provided! Plenty of helpful staff

Positive experience: We have been members for a couple of years now and enjoy everything YAWA has to offer. Noticeably, as time goes by, maintenance is slipping slightly. Shower curtains not replaced, scum stains around handrails in the pool. I have seen these cleaned before, however as I wrote, its the little things that are slipping.

Negative experience: The showers turn off every 15 seconds. I'm all about saving water but I can hardly wash myself while continuously pressing the button. General entry gives you access to the hydro pool which is great as some.other swim centres charge extra. Staff have been friendly in person but unhelpful and sometimes rude over the phone.

Negative experience: Great centre! But the booking app is a cruel joke. To book multiple children you have to create multiple accounts, endless details and then pay with one credit card transaction per kid. I called and begged them, "Please for the love of all that is holy don't make me spend the next 20min doing 5 credit card transactions of $12 each pre child..." But begging is not enough, you have to really want it apparently.

Fantastic experience: Brought the kids here on a rainy summer’s day. A big hit, but seems everyone had the same idea, so it was a bit of a kid salad! Also managed to sneak in a swim session for myself in the 50m indoor pool, which was faster than usual — personally I don’t believe the rumours that they put something in the water to make you go faster !

Positive experience: 4.5 if i had the option, Great pool centre, only reason it didn't get 5 was because the kids area didn't have crazy stuff like frankston and cranbourne... will definitely be going back though

Positive experience: Really good gym facilities and clean pools. Gym staff are condescending and pretentious, maybe not all of them but certainly the majority. The front counter and pool staff are nice and helpful. Nice big sauna and spa. 50m lap pool open till 10am most mornings. Take thongs, the ground is hard to walk on barefeet, like a gravel driveway! Deducting stars for gym staff, layout, and lack of water fountains near saunas and spa areas. Otherwise, it's a great place to swim and train. Just don't look or talk to the gym staff unless you're a celebrity or influencer.

Positive experience: This is an excellent aquatic centre. Suitable for serious and casual swimming as well as recreational visits. Being only ~2 years old all facilities are modern and remain in great condition (as at Oct-23). One disappointment I (and my 5yo son) had was that on arrival at 1.15pm the splash park & waterslide area was closed. A friendly lifeguard informed me that it runs from 9am-midday and again from 4pm-7pm (Mon-Fri, l'm not sure about weekends). Had I known I would have timed our visit differently. This would be helpful info to have on the website. Finally, I hope management have made a warranty claim with the surfacing contracter who installed the pebbled concrete floor. It has already begun to crack and is clearly shedding pebbles. I kept stepping on them in the pool and the surface has become uncomfortable under barefeet. After less than 2½ years - installer should rectify this!

Fantastic experience: Despite paying for a membership for several months I’ve never been brave enough to actually go in to the gym. I went today and had a tour with Casey. She made me feel so comfortable and took the time to show me every thing, she made me laugh, she looked out for me on my way out and set up everything I needed. I cannot speak more highly of her and feel really grateful that I “got” her. Everyone there is really approachable and friendly and I’m so looking forward to going back. Apart from the the facilities blew me away, everything is super clean and the cafe is amazing. Couldn’t fault it at all! Good work guys! And thank you Casey

Fantastic experience: Facilities are second to none, have always found the pool area and changing area to be clean. My membership allows access between 9am and 4pm, so finding a water aerobics session (the only exercise I do) is sometimes disappointingly unavailable and sessions appear to be oversubscribed.

Negative experience: Staff are hopeless, got no idea. Its a pure hole. Kids get in trouble for doing next too nothing wrong. Slide not working due to incompetence . The old life guard is a laugh and needs to retire. Grumpy . For the money spent it is a ket down, hydrotherapy is half the price in franskston. Head there instead.

Positive experience: + Good showers (easy to change water temp, newer built, hence nothing broken or mould) + The displayed digital clocks are working. (I always would recommend a huge train station style analog clock too, when digital falls out. They malfunction, known fact at other pools) If the displayed temperature is air or water temperature, was unclear. (Guess air?) Lane pool has three issues: - 1) The boom/divider 50-25m is unreliably moved regarding fix set time. Could pool staff please stick to the schedule of closing pool 10am-10:15am for boom movement as many have work and other lives and depend on timing and arrive specifically at 10:15am only to see the boom has not even started to move, but pool closed. (Today 10.8.2023) they started preparing the move at 10:15am with some black belts along the sides with utmost lackluster.... and was not finished till 10:34am.... That's poor quality and disappointing management of an everyday procedure. No one minds 5minutes delay. But please not 20 min late please. 20min wait is a long time that is missing for other planned appointments after swim and cuts swim short. Boom seems not manually moved but by an electrical motor (?) and I guess that's more the reason to have to get out of the water (electrocution?). It moves so slowly, there is no impact risk if anyone swam or paddled in the pool in the meantime either. The wall does not come crushing to your head at all. So as patrons have to wait, please stick to the closure boom move timing as close as possible. Ta! 2) the water temperature for lane swimming was felt bit too high. I think 25C is the usual good sport swimming. Not below, but not much further up (27C). You start sweating early if you want to do some lap training and swim 500m, 1000m or more at once and bit of speed. It doesn't feel good. More sweat in pool water, too. (The higher the water temperature, the more sweat swimmers produce with same workout.) For recreational head out of water and talk with my mates swim speed, it is perfect. But not for sport and fitness lane swimmers. Found it cloyingly too warm. 3) a lot of bandaids, snot and other debris floating in the lane pool water. Please have the filter system on full blast and well cleaned as yucky that job is. It's a health risk sharing water with others. Hope ozonating etc is in place which is invisible combat for all kinds of germs and cryptosporidium is per se a tricky one, but the filtration is a visible sign and was not impressing. Pool water can be crystal clear if managed well. It's a new facility, please go above and beyond some basic water cleaning recommendations for water cleaning. Have it like you would like it clean for swimming. Overall was underwhelmed for such a new pool for sport/ lane swimming. Mainly a management issue that can be improved
