Positive experience: I may not come anymore but I enjoyed visiting Hiscoes Gym on Wednesdays and Fridays after 7 PM for the Latin group classes. The staff is always welcoming with a friendly smile and helpful, especially with assisting at the parking gate. The floors are usually very clean, which makes sliding during dance moves easy and enjoyable. It’s a great place overall! My only suggestion would be to add an additional large fan in the studio for better ventilation.

Fantastic experience: Best gym hands down in Sydney. Even better than my old masters. I’ve held multiple titles in MMA and dominated Australia from 1996-2004. Mac is the absolute best. Just don’t make him work too much. Ha ha.

Fantastic experience: Exceptional service which goes above and beyond. Cameron is a gentleman and he has done what no-one else would by stocking a specific drink knowing it's our favourite. We are old school squash regulars that love an oj but they only ever have power drinks....aaaahhhh. He specifically stocks a couple of juices just for us. Makes one feel special. Deserves a promotion Susan!

Fantastic experience: Geweldig gezellige en goede gym. Heel vriendelijke mensen. Precies zoals eerdere goede reviews aangaven. Ongedwongen sfeer, geen patsers of posers, maar leuke mensen die graag een praatje willen maken met toeristen uit Nederland zoals wij. We mochten ook een free trial doen, zelfs als ze weten dat we geen abonnement gaan nemen. Dame die ons hielp achter de balie had wel humor en vroeg: waarom niet vanuit Nederland? Komende woensdag nog een keertje training en dan gaat onze reis verder naar Perth. Bedankt crew van Hiscoes. Hele leuke herinneringen ook bij jullie gemaakt.

Fantastic experience: Great gym and friendly staff. It seems the rise of 24 hour gyms with no staff and lack of a cleaning regime to keep costs low and squeeze more out of the consumer are now the everlasting trend of the gym scene. The owner of this gym could easily install a 24 hour gym door, cut all staff and make a much bigger margin. The thing is with this, you loose everything so valuable about this gym. Its personality and the reason it is so unique is, it is actually a gym that you can interact with people who care about you and is more of a community, that also contributes to the local community. The rise of technology has taught us now to just live in our own bubble, but coming to a gym that is run by an owner, who is always walking around the gym and caring for his patrons, is now a thing which is so unseen in todays business scope. Mac has been a huge help towards my growth and is a great guy, he has a solid team here and the gym is a place I look forward to going daily. I recommended everyone to move away from gyms that priorities boosting investors pockets while devaluing the value they give to the community and their patrons. Supporting a local business does the opposite and keeps these types of establishments alive. Big thanks to the Hiscoes team.

Fantastic experience: I love Hiscoes, when visiting, this is my Sydney gym staple since 1988. I learnt aerobics here… Still run by the Hiscoe family, great old-school equipment which is perfect for real strength and functional training. And Surry Hills local life is brilliant too.

Negative experience: Was followed out of the reception by an employee who was so adamant we were imbeciles for entering the gym "members only" car park by accident. We immediately asked for a token when we realised we entered the gym parking lot but were met with absolute arrogance and ego by this parking police. He threatened to have my car towed and proceeded to swear at us and calling us "f word muppets" despite us explaining the honest mistake. Mind you we wanted to leave the parking lot as soon as we realised it was members only car park and had to get a "token" to leave. Advice to owners or whoever is in charge, make the signage a little more clearer to those in surry hills on a saturday considering how busy it is and what a very honest mistake it is making a small wrong turn into a normal looking car park. Maybe also get a call/buzzer at the boomgate so that people who accidentally enter don't need to park "illegally" just to walk up to the gym to get a token! Felt like we were living in the 1980's. Also to the parking police who called us f word muppets, might be time to make the career change from gym bro to parking inspector. Feel like that's your calling! Cheers for the Sat morning laugh x

Fantastic experience: I’m in two minds about leaving this review - do I want more people to know what a great gym Hiscoes is?? Super friendly and welcoming staff who take the time to be people rather than gym bros or posers. It’s really the community gym for people who don’t like gyms. Plenty of different classes and options depending what you want to do or to give you some direction. Highly recommend.

Negative experience: Well I accidentally drove into the parking and immediately tried to get out. Had to go get a token to leave the parking from the gym reception. After apologetically asking for a token and explained a very humane mistake, the arrogant employee approached us asking if we are members of the gym and reluctantly handed us the token. We once again explained the mistake, and he continued by following us out of the reception. He then stood in the doorway like a hero repeating the most unnecessary comments like we planned to ruin his day by this small mistake. Surry hills is a fun place to drive on a Saturday so making a small wrong turn is not much of an offense. He called me a “f word muppet” when i asked him why he’s being so rude and out of touch. No words really except what an ego that was to experience. I hope he goes to sleep nice knowing he’s the king of parking! He had brown hair, beard, quite a gym bro physique and looked quite arrogant in general. Possible name is Tom but not too sure as I didn’t get his name lol. Would love an apology for the absolute disgusting experience from a so called “all-inclusive gym”.

Fantastic experience: Ahh Hiscoes, where do I start..? As a middle aged woman who has pondered joining a gym for many years, I could not be happier with the wonderful team at Hiscoes. The Hiscoes team have created a space where you feel inspired and welcomed. The small group training classes are tailored to your level of fitness and you will not only see results but have a laugh as well. If you have been putting off the gym due to finding the right fit, then Hiscoes is the place for you.

Fantastic experience: always good to revisit Hiscoes gym whenever in Sydney friendly staff and well maintained local gym unfortunately like most gyms--mobile phones are allowed in which means waiting around to use equipment whilst people are engrossed on their phones I visit "Gold's" gym whenever in Japan where cell phones are prohibited and think its a good policy not to allow them in the gymnasium

Fantastic experience: Such a welcoming gym. I’ve never been able to get motivated to go to the gym regularly but having Jim as my personal trainer has really changed that for me. I now enjoy going and I love the way a feel and look.

Fantastic experience: I have been going to Hiscoes for last year and I love it. There is very down to earth feel at Hiscoes and the staff are very friendly. All the instructors are paid to be there and help you, and you can have complimentary updates to your program whenever you want, and its all included in your membership. Members dont have to pay for squash Court Hire and they have competitions and beginner squash coaching ( free ) to help you get started....

Fantastic experience: Hiscoes is a healthy, amazing gym with a warehouse type feel and no attitude, rather than the slick designer "all show-no substance" gym chains that are saturating the market. It has a strong emphasis on the health and wellbeing of it's members and proactively offers advice, encouragement and support. Since joining this gym in 2009 I've been motivated to go more often and do more sustainable and comprehensive workouts which means that the nett winner is me. This gym must be doing something right for it to be a stable stand alone gym that has been operated by the same family for more than 30 years. There is an extensive range of equipment that caters for any need and level of fitness. It's the types of people that go that make Hiscoes the gym that it is. Free squash courts for members is an absolute bonus. Am I happy here? I love it! Do I recommend Hiscoes? hell yeah!

Fantastic experience: Its not about flash equipment, or trendy cloths, just a place to workout. You even get to know the people training along side you! Unheard of in Sydney! Pretty good value too- classes, parking, squash and weights all included in membership, right in the city. And, they even wash your sweat towel for you.

Negative experience: There was over 400 COVID cases today, so it was really poor form seeing your trainers running group sessions in Surry Hills today, 7-8 people, trainer wearing no mask and wearing Hiscoes uniform, the owner has said it was a one on one session which is incorrect the red bearded trainer was standing in front training a GROUP. Negative experience: It seems to be the kind of gym where the same locals have been going through the same routines for years. While this may suit some, it leaves little room for newbies unless the gym managers put on additional classes for the most popular classes, such as bodypump and HIIT. I personally couldn't get into HIIT on any day or bodypump on Saturdays. Now this was already an issue before Covid. I have twice cancelled my membership because of it.

Positive experience: Great little gym. Has squash courts, classes and a small car park. Easy to get to on foot or via bus or tram depending on where you're coming from.

Positive experience: Have come here for squash a few times. Paying per person is a little expensive for squash, but it's a very nice facility. Service is great and the carpark is very conveniently located but cramped.

Negative experience: They will remove the favourite gym equipments without the notifications. And even if you give some good ideas to improve , they just ignore. They don't display any motivation quotes on walls. And they don't answer the call on time. Gym equipments are very old. The Gym is not good enough in terms of new technology, equipment so on. The primary purpose of gym is to get people fit and the gym and the people should support all the way they can. So they may provide some much appreciated service hint, suggestions info booklets and any books or audiobook so on. And other gym memberships fees are lower than this. And prices of food at reception... There are noisy works going on time to time so we can't listen to music or audiobooks peacefully. So many people at peak times so on. So I am cancelling my membership right now after long resistance and patience. Unnecessary support to ️‍. No support for any group of people. Just let the gym as gym for all.

Fantastic experience: Stuff members are great and the gym is quite spacious with a variety of facilities and instruments. Big bonus for squash courts, stretching, yoga and boxing rooms. If I have one complaint it is related with the instruments available and the music. Some are a bit old so an upgrade would have made the place to be perfect; per music I have no idea why most pop/dance music dominates the athletic facilities. It is mostly uninspired and quite monotonous!

Fantastic experience: This gym has a certain cozy feel to it. The carpeting in the floor welcomes you instantly and the 4 squash courts are really a bonus. Members can learn squash for free. Gym equipment is nice and adequate too. You can find a while bunch of personal trainers, fitness programs, private squash lessons going on around here.
