Negative experience: I'd be very cautious about signing up with them. Even if you cancel they still keep taking your money. Always check your account. There's sneaky fees and they don't do what you ask of them. Edit: I really appreciate the reply. I cancelled my membership 3 months ago and all payments had stopped. However, this month the funds were taken from my account again. I did reach out to your team who assured me a solution would be reached in 3 days but here I am still waiting for my refund over a week later.

Positive experience: I agree with previous post… the best thing about goodlife south melbourne is the trainer Mary O! Mary’s reformer Pilates classes are the best I’ve found in 15 years and several studios! I’m devastated they will be ending. Surely nobody wants to do Pilates with a tv screen? I certainly hope Mary will have more mat Pilates classes (and barre?!?!) or I’ll have to find another gym. There’s no way I will double my membership fee just to watch reformer on a tv!

Fantastic experience: Love love love the place! Only because of Mary O, the amazing group pilates instructor. It's sad to see that they've decided to replace Mary's experience with television screens. The group who attended these classes should have been asked before making such a massive move. I wouldn't be surprised if my mates from our classes decide to move on (if this wasn't the only good gym around me, I would have done it too). Another huge applaud to the staff, especially Farjad and Anthea, these two do all in their power to answer a customer's queries, especially when other staff "forget about it, accidentally'. Appreciate the lot and the facilities. But I really wish group pilates continued :(

Negative experience: Very bad experience with this gym, they suddenly charge more than the agreement made and when you try to get it fix just play fool, I have been trying to cancel the membership for 2 months and whenever I call no one knows why hasn’t been processed. Also the bathrooms are most of the time dirty, both in Prahran and Northland. Once a homeless entered the gym in Prahran, broke my locker and took my AirPods and car keys, I was lucky I entered the changing room and was able to get my keys back but no my AirPods, police came and the manager told me it would be solve but nothing happened…

Negative experience: The new App is a disaster. I signed up with my son and when he goes it disconnects me and when I go it disconnects him - we signed up in South Melbourne, but I use predominantly the Mornington gym. Spoke to Goodlife in South Melbourne where my son goes and they could not fix the problem. Spoke with Mornington Goodlife and they couldn't help at all. I rang the 1300 number today to cancel and have one last try to get the app to work, however once I told the guy I was cancelling (South Melbourne) he did not follow through to help me sort out the app issues for our last 4 weeks, he just hung up. The Goodlife Gym is going down hill fast, try Revo or really anywhere else, much better customer service. Such a shame as was a good gym, however when you go after hours you cannot get access and at the higher rates it is frustrating to get such poor service. Also, why hang up on a customer who is letting you know "very respectfully " that your new App has problems and after all this running around it still doesn't work! Wow, so disappointing.

Negative experience: I signed up to good life in June/July this year and have just cancelled my membership as of today - I’m not one to write reviews but I feel it would be good for people to hear my experience before signing up to a year long contract etc. The gym is horrendously busy at peak hours be that before or after work hours and every machine is in use at some point. I failed to get an entire workout in the whole time I was there because I didn’t fancy waiting an extra 30 mins to be able to get my lifts in. I also have a problem with the culture there - I rarely saw anyone wipe down equipment after use and barely anyone used a towel. I thought it was maybe just a Melbourne thing but I have since moved to another gym and it is no where near as busy, they have a no towel no train policy and everyone wipes down equipment! The staff are lovely, but I think the gym has massive issues as a whole - and have now been slapped with a 245 dollar cancellation fee. Probably my own fault for not shopping around but this place has some serious issues.

Fantastic experience: Highly recommend Ryan as a Personal Trainer. He knows exactly how to target the areas you want. Also love Mary in Reformer Pilates. I have a dodgy elbow and she always knows how to offer alternate exercises.

Negative experience: The gym itself is good I won't knock it for that, but I moved away and have been trying to cancel my membership for months now and it is an absolute nightmare. They will do everything to keep you paying each week. Definitely avoid if you don't want to be stuck in a lock-in contract.

Negative experience: This gym has really gone downhill. The customer service is poor, and ongoing issues with managing my membership have ultimately led me to leave. Continuing to overcharge me after I explicitly raised the issue feels like exploitation. Frankly, it borders on theft. As I’ve seen in other reviews, I’m not alone. It seems deception is a recurring theme here. It’s unfortunate, because the location is very convenient, but that’s not enough to justify staying. Do yourself a favour and find a different gym!

Negative experience: As a South Melbourne local, I expected much better from this gym. Unfortunately, my experience has been marked by poor communication, inconsistent information, and a clear focus on maximising revenue rather than supporting members. One staff member told me I’d need to cancel my membership and rejoin at full price just to access a lower weekly rate. Another admitted I was being overcharged, promised to freeze my account while I was overseas, and said they would adjust my rate. None of this was actioned. I continued to be overcharged. It’s incredibly frustrating when staff give conflicting information. At times, it feels deliberately misleading. Promises aren’t followed through, and I’ve spoken to other members who’ve had similar experiences, this does not appear to be an isolated case. The gym itself is mediocre. It’s frequently overcrowded, and the layout and equipment mix don’t seem suited to the needs of its member demographic. As a business owner, I value transparency, accountability, and trust. Unfortunately, none of those qualities are reflected in the way this gym is managed. I would not recommend it.

Negative experience: Walked in to cancel my membership and the guy on the front desk said that it had been done and that it was all good. Come to fund out after a month+ that they were still taking my money. Sent them an email again asking why this was the case and was told they have no record of cancelling my membership and will have to pay for another 4 weeks as they have only done so now. Feels like more slimey gym membership tactics to get more $$ out of you. Will see again in another 4 weeks if they come up with more excuses…

Negative experience: The gym doesn't have enough capacity for the excess of costumers, generally the machines are constantly busy. I have complained twice and ask to contact the customer service to have my fine revoked as the gym didn't present strong evidence to support the reasons to be fined. Personal trainers there are very rude and bully, I've been disrespected by the some trainers (Chelsea, Jake) I've been harassed and fled by them when I use some machines to do my workouts, also me i noticed when they laugh about people around. Stefan, the manager needs to be more trained to handle paperwork, he has lack of knowledge with certain procedures.

Negative experience: I have to give one star for a review as there is no option for a 0 or a minus star. It has been 3 weeks since I gave a medical certificate stating I can not workout coz of my back injury. Initially I was told my membership will be cancelled and no further money will be deducted from my account. But that did not happen, I was being still charged money. I went there second time, to raise up the grievance. Again nothing happened. Now I will have to go there again the third time, to request and no confirmation that they will stop charging me. They seem like just money mongers and no customer service.

Fantastic experience: The Group Fitness Manager, Ellen, at Goodlife South Melbourne is truly the best. I’ve been a member of several gyms over the years, and after COVID, I noticed that many places cut back on group fitness classes. But since joining this club, I’ve seen just how committed Ellen is to building and improving the program. She’s always thinking of the members—constantly organizing events, introducing new classes, and creating a fun, welcoming atmosphere. Fantastic experience: Quality gym and would highly recommend Mitch Looker as a PT. Not only is his surname accurate (he’s a good looker) but he’s also super knowledgeable and really knows his stuff when it comes to training. I was lifting heavier after two sessions. The app he uses with all his clients is intuitive and super easy to use to keep track of pretty much everything to help you on your fitness journey and combined with his vast knowledge, it’s an incredible deal. He’s a genuine person, great banter during the workouts and makes you feel super at ease while he coaches you onto greatness. Great value for everything you get with him

Negative experience: Typical money grubbing gym. Was a member for 3 years, they decided after I moved I had to give 30 days notice and you get the impression " oh one last payment cool ", nope you are required to effectively pay for x2 months as the second payment falls within this period. They charged me and took over 2 weeks to process my cancellation citing they couldn't see my request on the online form, when querying it they said they would get back to me, 2 weeks later I am forced to follow up to be told yeah we mis-informed you why we charged you, but if you read this fine print we did nothing wrong..... Careful of their customer service team/sales team, just typical money grubbing behaviour/antics, horrible way to exit after 3 years of what was a good gym in South Melbourne/Coomera but the state of their gym in South Brisbane is just disgusting and why I left.

Negative experience: Stephan at the front desk was unbelievably rude when trying to sign me up to a new contract. Anytime Fitness next door has far better facilities and pricing. My old contract elapsed and the previous sales person didn’t put it on auto renew like they should have. Goodlife also never reached out to notify me of the issue. Stephan wouldn’t match the old rate and also wouldn’t let me do my workout that day unless I paid a $35 for a day pass.

Negative experience: I am deeply disappointed with Goodlife South Melbourne's handling of a serious incident of racism I experienced at their gym. Despite reporting a fellow gym member who not only threatened me but also made racial comments, the management did not bother to call and discuss the circumstances with me. Even more concerning, they took no disciplinary action against the individual responsible. It is alarming that Goodlife South Melbourne appears to condone such behavior among its members. This lack of response reflects poorly on their commitment to customer safety and inclusivity. Allowing such individuals to remain in their facilities sends a troubling message that racism and threats are acceptable. I strongly advise against joining Goodlife South Melbourne or supporting any business that turns a blind eye to such incidents. As a public establishment, they have a responsibility to ensure a safe and respectful environment for all patrons. This review is a cautionary note to others who value inclusive and respectful spaces. It is unacceptable for any gym, especially one as prominent as Goodlife South Melbourne, to ignore acts of racism and threats.

Negative experience: Overall pretty disappointed would not come back for a few reasons. Inflexible memberships, pay a fee just to suspend where it’s time limited and impossible to cancel without a hefty fee. Dirty gym mats, smelly gym and inconsistent instructors in classes, the worst sounding horrifically loud speakers in the spin room (you get loudness warnings on your iPhone) and overcrowded classes overlapping and running behind schedule. I can say there is a nice sauna and friendly staff. Never again. Sorry guys you have a bit of tidying up to do.

Negative experience: ****Please do yourself a favor and join some other gym ***** This gym is just about making money and ensuring that no one gets the equipment. Trainers are very good but so underpaid that they can't do much. Members struggle to get admission in their specific pilates class and they have to pay extra on the top of their membership. Pilates beds are so dirty and while exercising we are inhaling dust as well. After so many continuous feedback and complaints, there is no resolution.

Negative experience: Horrible experience with a fitness assessment at south melb good life and store management took forever to get back to me and refused to offer a refund. Will never do business with them again. A 30 mins fitness assessment took 1.5 hrs where the trainer had no idea what the assessee needs to do and how to calculate the figures needed. They googled how to do the calculations in front of me and asked me to run three times of what was needed (2.4km each time). I was exhausted and had to drive the end of the assessment to have it completed. The trainer filled in two of the same forms because the first form was full of errors. I called after the assessment to speak with one of the managers. They agreed how poor the experience was and said I could expect a refund in 5 days. Nothing came through. Called a week later, said they would call me back but didn’t. Called again and caught the store manager but he didn’t agree a refund was warranted. Very poor service across the board. Wanted to join them, never ever.

Our trainer David is fantastic and the whole management of the gym is peerless. They listen to your reviews and, more importantly, act on them and provide feedback. Negative experience: I’ve been a loyal member of Good Life Gym in South Melbourne for quite some time, but I’ve observed a noticeable decline in the gym’s standards. Despite its previously high standards, the gym has become increasingly overcrowded, making it nearly impossible to access equipment or even find an available bench during peak hours. This influx of new members seems to be at the expense of existing members’ comfort and accessibility. Moreover, the cleanliness and maintenance of the facilities have significantly deteriorated. The toilets consistently have an unpleasant odor, and the shower areas are far from meeting acceptable hygiene standards. Additionally, the equipment and overall gym infrastructure are showing their age, contributing to a run-down and unwelcoming atmosphere. It’s disheartening to witness the decline of a gym that I have been part of for so long. I sincerely hope the management considers a thorough renovation or upgrade to restore the gym to its former glory. Alternatively, the opening of another gym in the area might provide the necessary competition to inspire improvements. A change is desperately needed to ensure the satisfaction and well-being of all members.

Negative experience: Approached Goodlife South Melb to enquire about joining. Spoke with a woman named Jessica - she had a UK accent. She was pushy and dishonest, so in the end I signed up at Anytime which is around the corner. • Forced to provide email & phone number before you can enquire about anything • She lied and said they don’t offer trials (they clearly do, as advertised on the website) and kept pushing me to sign up to a contract so I could do a "trial" within the 7 day cooling off period. I refused, I will not give out my direct debit details for no reason. I would have been more inclined to join if I could trial the gym. • She wanted me to sign up for Platinum so lied about the price difference between Platinum and the basic membership (does she not realise we have access to information online?) • Conveniently left out the quarterly “account keeping service fee” • The gym is big but it was too packed. I can see in these comments/reviews that it’s a problem and they’ve oversold memberships.

Positive experience: Just came in for a once off casual visit. Service friendly enough. Just found the facilities and equipment not the best for moderate to serious style workouts. Interior and layout also not great and is really dull for what a membership costs you. Is a very slight step up maybe for the 24 hour access chains but I’d strongly recommend just going to a virgin active which has all the classes etc and far better facilities

Negative experience: Hannah Abercrombie - STAY AWAY! Her and her partner recently fled Sydney and closed down a gym overnight without anyone knowing. They have ran away with peoples paid in full memberships and cut all contact with members. She has also frauded her ex clients from the gym! Members and Gym staff, please stay away from her !

Negative experience: Upon cancellation of my membership, they forwarded a link to clear the remaining balance. 1 Hour after paying this balance, multiple attempts of unauthorised transactions alerted by my bank for 300$+ from unknown companies. Be careful.
