Fantastic experience: I was at this gym for a week while on holidays. I had a great experience at this gym! The location is super convenient, especially being so close to the city. What stood out most was the manager—very kind, modest, and an excellent communicator with incredible patience. A lot of credit goes to them for maintaining the place so well—whether it's the consistently stocked paper towels, clean gym space, or well-kept showers and bathrooms. The equipment and weights are great, and the music in the background adds to the energy of the space. If you get a chance, definitely chat with the manager—whether it's about membership or training advice, they're the person to talk to. Highly recommend. Solid 5 stars!

Positive experience: I train at multiple gyms, Leviathan, Zap, the Aquatic centre, etc, but Zap North Hobart is my go to after school drop off, like most gyms its has its moments, Currently the AC is in need of repairs, but coming into the colder weather, it kinda works well, so I won't complain there! The gym has basic equipment to cover all areas for basic workouts, and it is cheap!! The PTs are good, and the staff was quick to help when I had a membership/key issue! If you want a good, cost-effective gym, I'd recommend Zap! For all ages, beginners, experienced, or people who just want a 24/7 gym that's in lots of locations, I recommend Zap Fitness!

Negative experience: The air conditioner just got fixed not long ago and now it’s broken again. No idea how long it’ll take to get it repaired this time. Working out feels like being in a sauna — the experience is absolutely terrible.

Negative experience: Came back to the North Hobart club because the Bridgewater clubs AC doesn't work, then this one doesn't work either. You'd think in Summer they'd have this fixed. Can't tell if it's my sweat or someone else's on some days

Negative experience: Air conditioner is not working since last week which can be evident from dwindling number of members coming to this club. No staff is present even during evening hours to report the issue to and still waiting for a response to the email sent 3 days ago. Pathetic.
Hi Gambit. We have logged the air conditioning unit with our facilities team to repair as soon as possible. We have had reduced staffing availability over the Christmas and New Year's break.
Positive experience: I hit this gym most days. The staff are awesome! The equipment's a bit weak, especially for leg day (that's my story, anyway). But hey, you get a great view of the drug action in the public loos across the street. And the music? Don't even get me started on that repetitive playlist and those awful music videos.

Positive experience: Gym is very cramped and lacking exercise equipment, and very untidy .thank God I go to the cleanest zap in sorell the girls work so hard to keep it that way
Negative experience: This has been out of order for last 3 to 4 weeks but still hasnot been fixed. This place lacks proper management.

Negative experience: Not enough facilities, some of the equipments are broken, not being fixed for ages. When you ask when it will be fixed they will reply “ ohh it’s in back order, may take couple of more weeks……”. This couple of more weeks doesn’t end…

Fantastic experience: Good for the price!
Negative experience: There are literally people here who finish a set and then spit on the floor, like a football player would do, except this is inside, and the staff don’t say anything. Witnessed 3 minutes ago so thought I’d leave a review.

Negative experience: North Hobart Location - this place is totally disgusting, air conditioning broken it is hot as hell inside - I was told it will take a week to be fixed - customer service is inexistente they never follow up with nothing- they do don’t even offer cleaning swipes anymore - they are exceeding on providing absolutely nothing to the members -

Negative experience: I can’t complain about price and general maintenance of the gym. But you guys definitely need to improve your customer service. I had an incident in the gym today where an employee asked me to put my shoes back while I was doing squats. If anyone understands anything about what I’m saying (and I am definitely not a professional on the matter, but have been told by my fisio to do so after having many injuries in my knee because I was doing the exercise wrong) this employee is more concerned with the business itself than with the health of a client. I go to zap fitness north hobart for a year now and I see daily people doing exercises completely wrong, probably damaging their backs and I have never seen a employee asking them to stop because they will get hurt, however they asked me to put my shoes back because I could kick a weight. Well, what is the difference in between these two situations? Anyways, I called their customer service and a grumpy attendant told me that doing the exercises the form I wanted was not negotiable, not even with a medical certificate and that they couldn’t cancel my membership because of this because I have a contract. Well done guys, I could have left this situation completely satisfied with the conversation that I had in the phone if she had explained to me why I shouldn’t do it and offered me options to solve my problem, instead, this lady mentioned a million reasons of how I’m bounded by contracts to do what she was saying. Amazing way to make a customer happy. I’m leaving zap as soon as my contract finishes.
Positive experience: Sept 2022: Centrally located, but parking is a hassle before 6pm as you need to pay. Good group of people, however not enough of the essential basics for the number of people in the space. Possibly due to the Moonah crowd still being dispersed around town. Smaller than Glenorchy, but it has a better vibe and is much cleaner. Missing key items such as fly cables, only three benches, should be at least six for this space. Otherwise a good alternative.
Negative experience: Cheap and convenient with descent equipment. Losing three stars because of: - Showers have been lukewarm for weeks (basically can’t have a hot shower there) and although the Regional Performance Manager has looked into getting this sorted, it is still not resolved. - Workout music that is blasted too loud and the song selection is abysmal tween hipety hop. Whoever thought that this was workout music needs to reconsider their career.

Edit #2: Adding a star back, after dropping a review here, the shower was fixed within 2 days. I’m not sure why it took this review to get people into gear.

Negative experience: The only good thing about this gym is that it is cheap and convenient, except when it is not. Do not sign up for this gym unless you are willing to be locked into a year long contract which they will not let you break. They will also tell you it is easy to get out of, pause or cancel but it is not. I was told I could transfer my membership to a friend, which was never done effectively and 7 months after thinking I ended my membership, I am still getting charged. The lack of transparency with Zap fitness is deceitful.
Hi Bronwyn the person that was going to take over your membership never filled out the paperwork. We did do what you asked and sent the information to them but it was never returned. We did advise that your membership would remain active until the transfer was completed. As the transfer was not completed the membership remains as per your contract. We will attempt to call you to discuss further

Positive experience: Pros: good amount of parking space parallel to the main street. Doesn't smell bad. Cons: This Zap doesn't have a water filter drinking tap. Free weight dumbbells only go up to 40kg (each). Location is inaccurate, entry is through the back, not from Elizabeth Street, where parking is.

Positive experience: Helpful staff at local gyms when around but often unstaffed, messy workout area at times, particular in the non-staffed hours, wipes often empty and facilities not always very clean . Pro: Many outlets. HQ/admin staff disengaged, not very friendly.

Positive experience: Good range of equipment. Free weights, weight machines, treadmills, rowers and bikes. Also has a trx area if thats your sort of thing. Doesn't get overcrowded.
