Kardinia Park Outdoor Gym

Fantastic experience: Free, clean, functional static gym equipment in the shadow of the Cattery. I reckon I have driven, walked, ridden and ran by this outdoor gym 1000s of times. Always with an admiring eye, always with a 'one-day' mind. It's been here for decades, yeh? Though not in its current stainless steel form. It was upgraded, is my sincere recollection. Well, folks, I came here today. 1st August, 2025, and used it. Not in a wholehearted way, more a reccie, a trial run, a test. I enjoyed it. I do exercise at home - I weightlift rocks, run around the neighbourhood and do callisthenics in my loungeroom. I came here because one thing absent from my repertoire which I want in my arsenal is hangs, holds and chin-ups. There are playgrounds near me where you can use that equipment for hangs etc. however it feels weird even noting that they're often empty. So, I decided to come here. Pretty happy that I did. I ran here from home. Pretty sweet 4km jog. I will be back, that's for sure. I just need to work out a workout, and get gloves with grip aids (hanging by two hands hurts like nothing else). The surface of this gym is bitumen. All frames are stainless steel. If you're bladder is like mine and it needs hospices more than I want, there are toits the other side of St Mary's oval.
