Fantastic experience: Friendly staff and a great place to train and relax.

Negative experience: Great gym with all the latest things to inspire those that want to get fit. However, pretty much the worst in regard to their erroneous contractual terms that do not allow for members whose circumstances change. On top of that, it is clear that staff have been trained to give zero craps and empathy to clients who are in the situations described above. They clearly believe that because they have such great features, they are more important than their clients. So many other great gyms out there that appreciate their clients and will work to ensure the best physical and financial outcome. If you want an active wear photo op, go here. If you want to go to a gym that believes in reciprocation, go to any other gym in Adelaide.

Negative experience: A very unsafe pool environment ! No pool attendants, no rules, no supervision. Today, Saturday, 27th December 2025, wanted some exercise for my injured shoulders, and some relaxation. The bigger la e was filled with unruly children unsupervised by parents, so I wanted to use a free lane to walk and do my gente arm exercises in. Then 3 aggressive boys entered my lane and began throwing their arms around me as I was walking in my lane, they were about to injure me badly, that I had to swerve to the left to avoid their aggressiveness. I was terrified and very upset, and saw a pool worker staring at her pc screen and asked her to urgently cal, for a manager, Sharon arrived and I asked her to view the footage and speak with the 3 aggressive boys. Sharon discredited me with my full detailed explanation of what they did in my lane nearly injuring me. I will be taking my complaint to a higher management person. Lana Korvin

Fantastic experience: I have been a member for many years and love the place, it’s my home away from home. Over the last few years though there has certainly been a change with the new GM Ettian making substantival changes and improvements. Of late though the Cafe run by Gabbi and her lovely side kick Maria who are tireless in always making it a fun place to go I have appreciated that the new Chef Mark has changed the cafe into a restaurant like feel with his wonderful cooking. I now take my Wife and friends to enjoy the food with my favourite being the Pad Thai noodles. It’s a great place to go to train and swim but also before or after the football or whatever is happening at Adelaide oval or even after a walk around the torrens river for a coffee.

Fantastic experience: I’ve had a wonderful experience with private tennis lessons at Nexgen. Rina, my coach showed reliability, patience, professionalism, and enthusiasm during sessions and had helped me not only grow my skills but also my love for tennis over the past year.

Fantastic experience: Lana is a world-class fitness instructor. Her classes, whether it is a fast-paced step, mobilising pilates, or intense 'strength', are always a physical enjoyment as well as aesthetic pleasure. Her professionalism, empathy, positive energy, and impeccable taste in everything she does, attract people of all edges. Ther is never a dull moment in Lana's classes. She keeps everyone engaged with her entertaining manner and clever routines that she seldom repeats. No wonder her classes are full any time of the year.

Fantastic experience: Recently joined next gen having recently moved to the city. I can honestly say I’ve never been to a gym like it and the facilities are superb. We had a tour with sales manager Josh who sealed the deal and gave us a great deal. Recommend highly joining next gen.

Fantastic experience: I have been a member of this club since the commencement to Memorial Drive. I have experience new friendships and most to the fore has been my classes with Juliet. She knows exactly what each of my class group requires and has me believing it is possible for me to achieve and I tell other friends not members how good Juliet’s classes are and some have actually joined the club. A big thank you to Juliet.

Negative experience: The overall environment is great, and the coaches are excellent. My child especially loves the swimming coach and has been learning here for a year. However, I want to talk about a lady in a green shirt at the cafe. Because my child had consecutive classes in the morning with only a 40-minute break, we bought her some sushi for lunch. We wanted to eat quickly before her class (we often order from this cafe, but their service is relatively slow, which I completely understand, and that's why we bought the sushi in advance). Then this lady immediately came over and arrogantly told us that no outside food was allowed in the cafe area! We explained that our child could eat first and we would order later, but she insisted that we couldn't eat there! I asked where we could eat, and she told me that it wasn't allowed in any area! I've seen mothers bringing their own food with their children before. Why is this? Is there an age limit for children? At what age can they no longer eat their own food? Or are they only allowed to eat those kinds of food? If a child no longer wants your children's meals, can't they find a place in the gym where they can eat their own food? Perhaps your coffee shop does have such a rule, but her arrogant attitude is unacceptable to me! Her behavior makes me seriously consider whether I should renew my membership next year.

Fantastic experience: Fantastic gym but most of these stars go to the staff especially the cafe people. Daniel who I see work both reception and cafe has an amazing sense of customer service, Rodrigo makes consistently delicious smoothies, and Natalie who also provide fantastic service. The staff at next gen is exceptional. Brett is cool too and always has a smile on his face. If you guys want to experience amazing hospitality but also a gym that feels like home. This is the place to be.

Fantastic experience: Lana's pilates classes are simply divine. She is one of the best instructors at the gym. We are very lucky to have her. No matter how you feel before the class you will walk out feeling better.

Fantastic experience: Anna”s pump class on Monday 5;30pm and Wednesday 6:30pm are best class pump classes. Anna motivates the class and push us all to our limits and beyond. Highly recommend Anna’s pump classes and Step class on Sunday morning for a high intensity work out. Great job Anna!!!

Fantastic experience: If you want to have a great workout with amazing music and an energetic Fitness Instructor who looks after your technique, you have to try Cardio Combo with Christine on Mondays. Christine always delivers and looks after your technique while you’re building up towards fitness. A highlight of my Mondays, thankful we have access to Christine’s classes at Next Gen Memorial Drive.

Fantastic experience: I have been a member of this gym for many years and I am so impressed with the extensive experience, professionalism and loyalty of its instructors. In particular I want to highlight Mitzi and Annette- both amazing instructors and people. Their classes are always great workouts not to mention a lot of fun. They are friendly approachable and know all the regular members names. Their classes are unmissable!!!!! If you want to get a great workout by an amazing instructor and have a lot of fun too I highly recommend attending one of their classes. You will be treating yourself

Fantastic experience: Excellent club, great facilities and great staff especially in the tennis field. Strongly recommend for an executive-like atmosphere. Special props to tennis coaches Luke and Joel, extremely welcoming and very professional and supportive of my tennis endeavours, having both had a professional background in the sport. Cafe staff are extremely polite and friendly with customers. Meals are high quality and are delivered at seriously fast times - no waiting around with these guys. The pool facilities aren’t like any other in Adelaide. Highly maintained and very clean, swimming instructors are very good and produce excellent swimmers. Gym facilities are top notch (as expected from such a world class club. Enough equipment to rival the best gyms across Australia. Staff are welcoming and encouraging towards clients. Overall a very special experience every visit and would strongly recommend for anyone to attend.

Negative experience: Unruly irrresponsible parents with unruly children splashing around lanes where walking signage is afffxed, with disregard to elderly or disabled pool users! No pool attendants to advise parents what pool rules are, no one monitors this pool, managers do not care at all when complaints are raised, so unacceptable for the huge membership price every few months, do not recommend this centre at all.

Positive experience: I went to Next Gen tonight after joining up over the phone. The gym is much more higher class than anything else in Adelaide the staff were nice and the club has good vibes the only thing i can fault is i took their best membership available at $72 a week but I feel like this gym has everything i need to get ring fit for boxing

Fantastic experience: I am a foundation member at Next Gen Memorial Drive and have always been impressed with the tennis program, particularly the quality of the coaches and the coaching options that are available to members. For me, I have had one-on-one coaching with two of the coaches over the years. My first experience was with Brett Smith over a decade ago when i was travelling a lot for work. Brett was happy to put me last on his program on a Tuesday night and to be flexible with me. This was excellent as it allowed me to have a decent 30 minutes on court (most weeks) and allowed me to keep my game in tune. This year I have started working with Joel Scalzi for an hour a week and I have been thoroughly impressed with Joel's professionalism and passion for tennis. Not only have we rebuilt my ground stokes and corrected the errors that had crept into my serve, but we are doing drills and discussing tactics and approaches that I can start to build into my competition singles matches. Thanks Joel!

Fantastic experience: Highly recommend the tennis coach Rina at NG. She’s my first tennis coach and she has been coaching me for less than a year, I get huge improvements and really thank her for her enthusiasm in coaching, and she gave me so much useful and practical advice on playing tennis games. Go for her!

The facility is modern, immaculately clean, and thoughtfully laid out .whether I’m doing cardio, strength training, or taking a class, everything feels well-maintained and welcoming. The staff are friendly and professional, the trainers are knowledgeable and supportive, and the variety of classes keeps my routine fresh and motivating. Great value for the amenities offered.

Fantastic experience: I signed up with Next Gen 3mths ago and have had so much success from their FREE Next Step gym instructor service that I just HAD to share the results. I had no idea what I was doing when I first signed up I found the equipment very scary and I needed help. I spoke with Trinity about how awful I was feeling and she insisted I book in with one of their trainers. From there we had regular catch ups, they wrote me fitness plans and helped me change my workout when I needed to. The trainers there are ALL so wonderful! I can't believe all of this guidance was free. Thanks to them, I feel confident, strong, and healthy... really for the first time in my life. All I wanted was to feel better about my body. I have achieved that and SO MUCH MORE! I’ve now signed up for PT sessions with Nancy, who is absolutely wonderful and so knowledgeable. Now my goal is to see my abs and run my first half marathon ‍♀️ This is only the beginning for me. I never want to feel like I did 12 weeks ago ever again. I’m so grateful, and so happy!

Fantastic experience: Just joined Next Gen this month and so far I am impressed! The lounge is spacious, heaps of tables and chairs in the “restaurant area” but also a quieter space to work from. The gym itself is spacious and has all the equipment imaginable. The indoor pool is neat and clean and perfect for laps! I will be coming here every day if I can!!

Fantastic experience: I always enjoy coming to Next Generation Café. The whole team is super friendly, but I have to say Christ really stands out. Every time I’ve been here as a guest she’s always smiling, asking how your day is going, and she just has this genuine way of making you feel welcome. It honestly makes such a difference — you can tell she really cares about the people she serves, not just the job. This place is lucky to have her! The café itself is great too — the facilities are top-notch, and my favorite spot is by the tennis courts. It’s such a nice view to enjoy while having a coffee. Between the friendly atmosphere, the great service, and the beautiful setting, it’s always a good experience here.

Fantastic experience: Angela in the swim school is absolutely amazing and the best swim school manager we have ever met. Laekyn is an incredible swimming instructor, so patient and skilled with the little ones. Arabella, Mandy, and Sally in the crèche are all so lovely, caring, and attentive, making it such a warm and welcoming environment. We feel so lucky to have such a wonderful team looking after our children.

Fantastic experience: Been a member for a little while now and honestly, the tennis program is by far my favourite part of the club. I’ve done a few terms and just want to shout out the coaching team - Rina, Mile, and Joel! They’re all super professional, patient, and just great people to be around. Biggest thanks to Rina though I’ve been doing private lessons with her and the improvement over the past few months has been huge. She’s super encouraging, really sharp with her coaching, and makes the whole process enjoyable!!!

Fantastic experience: Awesome first time here. From the super friendly arrival at reception, I was told exactly where everything I would need would be. Gym was great, had all of the equipment that I was after and gym floor staff answered any questions that I had. Addition of pools, sauna and steam all under the one roof makes it even better.

Fantastic experience: I had such a good experience at Next Gen, the gym itself is super clean and welcoming, the staff are friendly, and the vibe makes you actually want to be there. What really surprised me though was the food; it was fresh, tasty, and way better than I expected from a gym café. Honestly, it’s the kind of place where you can smash out a workout and then enjoy a proper meal after, which makes the whole experience so much better. Would definitely visit again!!

Fantastic experience: Best gym in Adelaide with great gym equipment, Good cafe and food. Only problem is car parking. 200 car parks which some selfish so called members decide to park there all day from 7.30am onwards, not use the facility and then walk into the city to work/uni/RAH staff. This then stops members genuinely using the facility to find a car park especially 9-11am. Many times I’ve driven around the car park countless times, unable to find a car park then gone home. Have complained numerous times to management. All they need to do is put a security guard in the car park every week day morning for an hour, to stop this practice of all day parking. They keep promising a new system with time limit monitoring but it still hasn’t happened. Please do something about people parking all day at NG! Thank you

Negative experience: Next Generation only care about making money, not customer service. Requesting to swap something out of a Poke bowl due to an allergy and replace it with something of the same cost is not an option, instead you must pay extra for less. Most of the facilities are dated which is shocking given the astronomical membership fees.

Fantastic experience: I recently rejoined Next Generation, Adelaide aftet a 20 year break. It's central location & availability of pools were the initial draw cards as I was struggling to find a pool open during Winter at the times I require. After phoning them I went in immediately & joined up. Their customer service was excellent, well informed, professional & friendly, thank you Samantha The pool is well maintained & not crowded. I've since used the spin cycle & gym equipment, all of which were high quality. Highly recommended, thank you. B Williams

Negative experience: I have been a member of next generation for 20 years, and the only reason I remain a member is to use the squash courts. Despite repeated requests to keep the courts swept and cleaned they remain a disgrace. We swept 3 weeks ago, but there was nothing to collect up all the dirt and dust so we put in a front corner and asked the staff to remove it. Of course the maintenance staff informed us it was not their responsibility. Full stop. Clearly informing the cleaning supervisor had no impact either, as there it remains!!

Negative experience: Welcome to the gym that redefines guilt, gaslight, get over it — all wrapped in the aesthetic of live, laugh, love, but with more dust and disappointment. Here, “upgrades” mean replacing a $12 handle attachment while the machine it’s screwed into hasn’t seen innovation since your parents were doing jazzercise. Promises of renovations to this historic site have become folklore — whispered about for years with no shovel, no high-vis, just gracefully aging members clinging to hope and handrails. Membership fees? Astronomical. Vibes? Subterranean. Saturdays? A full-contact sport, thanks to feral children running wild and taking out shins like tiny linebackers. I, however, remain committed to this disco disaster purely out of convenience — much like how I stayed with my toxic ex way past the expiration date, convinced I could change him. Spoiler: I couldn’t. And just like then, I’m hurting myself in the process. 5 stars for comedic value. 1 for fitness. Unmatched for character development

Coach Joel’s positive energy keeps every lesson fun, yet he never stops pushing me toward continuous improvement. Luke Smith and the academy team foster a relaxed, supportive vibe. The courts are pristine and the whole facility feels world-class. The café crew—Chris, Gabi and Maria—are always welcoming, and the reception staff are just as friendly. Top-notch coaching, great people, superb facilities. Highly recommended.

Fantastic experience: I have been a member of Next Gen since a young kid (well over 15 years), a true testament to the facilities and staff. In particular the entire tennis program, which is run to the most upmost professional standards, and which has produced numerous top tier players over the years. The world class tennis courts and facility, accompanied by incredible coaches from the Peter Smith Tennis Academy, and subsequent players make tennis at Memorial Drive + PSTA a truly awesome and memorable experience. Would give 10 stars if there was the option!

Fantastic experience: I don’t usually write reviews but thought it was necessary given the latest ones. I have been coming here for nearly ten years, and I have to say the facilities and staff are absolutely world class. I mean that quite literally as the coaches train world class players, along with the Adelaide International being held here. The hard and grass courts are always in perfect condition, and there’s a plethora of courts to choose from. Not to mention the stunning setting next to Adelaide Oval with the outdoor pool. I started coming here as a total beginner, and through Luke, Josh and Joel's amazing group sessions and private lessons, I have become by all accounts a competent club player. They cater to all levels of skill by having a deep understanding of the game, but more importantly a great care for their clients. I have always felt incredibly well included and cared for, even when I was presumably frustrating to coach as a beginner :). It’s extremely easy to see how much they love the sport as it comes through in each training session. I have played at numerous clubs around the world, and I feel we are extremely fortunate to have world class coaches and facilities like this in Adelaide. It's not surprising the sort of people who would complain about this setup... I would highly recommend for anyone in Adelaide who is looking for a fun environment at beginner or advanced level, to join the club and utilise the incredible coaches and facilities.

Fantastic experience: have been shown the best technical advice for my groundstrokes. Very friendly, understanding coaches, that could help my level of play. As a beginner this can be intimidating, but two coaches by the names of Luke and Joel helped me feel comfortable straight away. I understand this is a world class establishment, and so when i see negative reviews, I tend to look at the person writing them, as though there might be something wrong with that person, because I have only had positive experiences here, along with my friends and their children.

Fantastic experience: Next Gen is superior in every way, gym facilities are state of the art and maintained to the highest standards. The people are always welcoming, I have been a member for over 20 years. Next Gen plays a central role in my ongoing health and wellbeing. Thanks Next Gen!

Negative experience: I would like to share my disappointing experience with Next Generation Club. Although the facilities are generally well-equipped, my overall experience was unfortunately overshadowed by poor customer service and a lack of professionalism. I was particularly concerned by a phone call I received from a member of staff, during which I felt I was spoken to in a passive-aggressive tone and treated unfairly. I tried to explain my situation and the reason for my attendance at a tennis session, but I felt dismissed and judged rather than heard and supported. This left me feeling uncomfortable and unwelcome at the club. Moreover, I believe some of the communication around class bookings and fees lacked transparency. I had no intention of attending any paid group sessions without knowing they carried an extra charge, and yet I was booked into classes without my clear consent or understanding. I value transparency and respectful treatment as a paying member, and unfortunately, I did not feel that these expectations were met. Despite this, both my wife and I decided to cancel our memberships. However, we were still charged 30% of the remaining fees, with no consideration for the circumstances or for basic consumer rights. It was disappointing to see that these concerns were not taken into account. I hope that the club takes this feedback seriously and improves its communication with members, particularly when dealing with misunderstandings or concerns. Every member deserves to be treated with respect, fairness, and honesty.

Negative experience: Very poor quality of children tennis club, coaches are young and immature plus lazy , almost done no coaches just let kids to play bythemselves, stay away as they only wants to be paid for doing nothing

Fantastic experience: I am thoroughly enjoying going to the Next Generation Gym. Everyone has been so welcoming. The facilities are outstanding. I love the range of classes and the instructors are so supportive and passionate. It suits me perfectly to have classes available during the day, not just the traditional morning and evening. Thank you to all who have made my transition back to the gym so positive. It really is a lifestyle club as it has so much to offer.
