Negative experience: Sauna could do with a clean. Staff nice but can’t seem to contact anyone that can make decisions when you need assistance from being overcharged.

Fantastic experience: I was working out and a trainer (Kane) offered some (unsolicited) advice on the way I was doing the exercise. He did it respectfully and I so appreciated it! I find this gym to be really friendly and inclusive- as a woman of 66 yrs old, I never feel looked down upon!

Positive experience: Good gym with good stuff, it never smells and is always cool so you dont overheat. The lockers and the gym in general are almost always very clean, only problem would be some sticky old glue on some of the machines handles which can be very annoying and even ruin your set

Positive experience: Would appreciate if Gym Trainers, Training People Respect Others Working around. No point coming in front more then Two occasions, blocking the way and disrupting the Workout! Trainer was taking weights off but stood there talking long with his Paid client possibly.... doesn't Work Like That I let go of it 2 times not again and again .... either way no hard feelings..... I was doing what I do and you were too but would have appreciated if you were to respect the ones working around ..... Keep Smiling and Focus not just on one that Pays you direct but other Members of the Gym too..... Also kindly Work on your Shower Facility as the Hot water is no where close to what it is in Docklands or other branches..... tke care.

Fantastic experience: Great feelings to at Essendon ,, as there was sauna open like even late hours , i visited here on 13th of august, after 11 pm the guy who was cleaning I saw him doing a marvellously deep clean shiny glossy job , the reason I say so becuase normally I attend other branch of goodlife in south east where I live and , those guys just not deep clean at all , Atleast , should appreciate this cleaning guy effort who’s working this late at night ..

Fantastic experience: eden is the most amazing personal trainer !!! super super organised , so pleasant to be around and motivates me to keep going. the way she explains things is that little bit different and i can wrap my head around it easier , so much patience and i don't feel bad about asking questions. knows her stuff super dooper well and shares her knowledge with passion and genuine care. the session plan is thorough and professional , very advanced and well thought out. i could not recommend eden more !! the passion and fire makes her such an incredible pt and i am wrapped

Fantastic experience: Today my wife and I who are not gym-goers at all went to GoodLife Essendon for a consultation. We were lucky to sit down with two staff (one I think the manager) named Subashppp and Burst. They made us feel comfortable straight away and were generous with their time and advice. For people who fear the gym somewhat, we couldn't have had a more positive experience. Thanks guys!

Fantastic experience: Fantastic, clean gym! With outstanding Group Fitness classes!! The Instructors are motivating and professional and with you all the way , no need for virtual when we have real humans! The Personal Training team are highly experienced and friendly I was very impressed with the relaxing sauna & clean change rooms and loads of parking!!

Negative experience: Not helpful to have your hours as “Open 24 hours” if you’re not going to have the SAUNA open 24 hours and staff won’t pick up the phone at 6:50pm on a Friday arvo. When are staffed hours, is what people wanna know
Positive experience: I can only comment on the equipment and facilities as I haven’t dealt with the staff. For a gym, it’s for everything you need to do whatever you want. There’s plenty of machines with space and a smaller free weights section (it’s not tiny, but gets crowded quickly). I’ve never had a drama getting a locker that works and the sauna is sometimes out of order, but that happens most places. Limited close parking as it shares with other businesses. There’s dedicated parking, but it’s a little removed. Fine for me, but for someone a little safety conscious, I could see it being a point of concern (especially if you workout at later in the evening). The PT’s message regularly to see if they can get you business, but don’t pester you which is good. It’s similar to most franchise like gyms in this price range. Can’t comment on classes, I don’t go for them. Staff have always been friendly, but not invasive, which I personally like.
Negative experience: I went to cancel my membership a year ago as i was about to head for a trip, but got talked into suspending it for up to the year. I forgot about it until money started coming back off the account, and upon going to cancel, they said it would keep being paid for another 30 days. No warnings at the initial conversation or any time in the last year. What a con.

Negative experience: These guys here just won’t give you correct information about the contract and will keep taking money from your bank account months and months after your contract’s expire date without informing you. They never accept the cancellation request. And the receptionists are not professional, not even polite…
Negative experience: Gave it a shot. Left a few months back. For the most part there was a really weird vibe. Didn't feel safe. Like some nights it's just a childcare center for rich kid delinquents. Plenty of other 24 hr gyms in the area. Don't "settle".

Negative experience: Ridiculous pricing, surely going to close down at this rate. Only reason to join us if you live close but considering all the other options your better off just driving to another gym with cleaning, newer and better equipment and that’s not as packed. Machines are terrible and hadn’t been updated since 2005 when it was fitness first

Negative experience: Wish I could be more positive This gym is always dirty Equipment worn out or damaged Plates and handles always on the floor Lockers don't work Staff quite lazy and non responsive One thing this gym is good at is taking the weekly payment from my account And also charging me for PT once every 3 months even though I never agreed to it. Manager seems to change every few months And the place smells of wet dog because of the pet wash downstairs.
Fantastic experience: I trained here for over a year and really enjoyed the experience. The atmosphere is fantastic The equipment is in good condition The facilities are clean The staff are all friendly and helpful The trainers were very knowledgeable and I enjoyed training with Bill quite a lot. Unfortunately I had to cancel as I moved away from access to GoodLife. However even cancelling was easy and pleasant, especially compared to other gyms I've been with. It was a 2 minute phone call and immediately I was on my 30 day cooldown period. Thank you brad for handling that, easiest cancelation I've ever had. I'll definitely rejoin if I end up living in essedon/Brunswick area again. I miss the sauna already!

Fantastic experience: Definitely appreciated a good quality gym and this is certainly one of them, from the moment you're greeted at the front reception to all the friendly helpful floor staff, surely makes you feel welcomed. Special mention to my PT trainer Stephen, he's one of the best in the industry and I defiantly highly recommend him.
Negative experience: I really enjoyed it for a while, it’s an interesting community. I love the instructors for the classes. (Reality is these instructors work across many gyms teaching Les mills). Its definitely good for some but not the right place for me anymore. Been wanting to cancel my membership for a while now. The person I spoke to over the phone just convinced me to accept a better deal and put my membership on hold for a while. Feels like a global pyramid scheme to me where good life employees (sales people) are paid on commission for signing people up/keeping them on their memberships). I’ll be cancelling my membership asap. And I’ll be taking my business to my local council gym/pool. Thank you.
Negative experience: This place don’t deserve a 1 start it’s completely a joke, after we make the cancelation 3 times they say different things like we still have to pay for 2 weeks and after they say that it’s for 30 days after we finish the contract, we wait the 30 days they still take the money, the worst part the manager call and after she speak a lot and don’t even let me speak, she say sorry I have to leave the job in 5 min so I don’t have time to listen to you, she was interrupting me, don’t let me speak and put her voice over mine and she just hang up the phone at the end If a place like this don’t have time to listen they customers they should no have the right to sell a service and have clients The worst gym in all Australia
Negative experience: Would give 0 stars if I could. Continued taking money from my account AFTER my contract was cancelled and are refusing to refund. Stay away.
Negative experience: THIS GYM IS A TOTAL JOKE There’s always something malfunctioning either the sauna or the sound system or even worse THE LOCKERS!!! And every time the lockers are out, they tell you that you can leave valuable stuff with the reception to be looked after. Which I did, last night in order to attend the body combat class. However, come 8 pm the girl from the reception got up and left without first making sure I had my MOBILE, CAR and HOME keys with me!!! She just left them behind the counter…… not even locked up safely somewhere!!!! When I realised she was gone without making an effort to return them to me first I panicked as I had no means to go home or call anybody for help. Thank god my housmate was home and I called him from the reception phone and he picked me up. To cut a long story short, there has been no apology when confronted even though I was visibly shaken as I hadn’t slept all night worrying sick as to who has access to my phone, car or house and to make matters worse they told me that I could have picked them up myself from behind the counter and it was my fault that I left my valuables with them even tho they couldn’t provide safe and secure working lockers to lock them in. I would advise anyone NOT TO JOIN THIS GYM, as they’re totally irresponsible and careless. I would give them -100 stars if I could after the ordeal I just had!!!
Negative experience: ESSENDON GOODLIFE NEW MEMBERS ARE COMPLAINING ABOUT THE FAILURE TO MENTION ABOUT THE $10 PT LESSONS CHARGED ON TOP OF MEMBERSHIP FEES! ITS SNEAKY AND SO UNPROFESSIONAL. I DIDNT EVEN REALISE I WAS BEING CHARGED EXTRA & TO TOP IF OFF GOODLIFE CONFIRMED THEY WILL NOT REFUND ME THE EXTRA AMT NOR WILL THEY LET ME USE THE PT SESSIONS THAT IVE ALREADY PAID FOR THAT I NEVER USED! THIS PLACE IS A JOKE! WATCH OUT THIS PLACE WILL CLOSE SOON & THEY WONT DO REFUNDS!
Fantastic experience: This gym is not the closest gym to my home. When I tried other gyms nearby, I realized that Essendon Goodlife is a very good gym in all aspect. It is spacious, has comfortable gaps between equipment, big group working area, long staffing hours with friendly staffs, big changing, shower area and steam room. It offers various group training classes and have very nice trainers.

Negative experience: Worst gym ever, worst front staff, manager 0/10 I have been a member for a year and had to go through hell and back to cancel my membership. Please avoid this gym at any cost! I wonder how they have few 5 star reviews only to realise it’s reviewed by the owner and it’s members. Worst rated gym.
Negative experience: what a horrendous gymnasium establishment. they con you into a 12 month deal and can never get out even after i produced a certificate with a broken neck. they kept saying i must serve my 12 months like it was a prison sentence. treating me like a criminal. absolute insanity from this wannabe fitness inferior joint. they invite delusional influences to come in with there little tripod and make everyone feel uncomfortable. disgrace. they even do a cheeky discount for 5k plus IG Followers. what a joke. they think there going to produce the next bradley martino or something. sad

Negative experience: Good life Essendon 24 hour gym ??? My card doesn’t open the door before 6am. You get it reset and the next morning the same issue . Have asked the same receptionist to have someone contact me to rectify it. Was told she can’t do anything but leave messages and this issue is common with other members. It’s been two weeks. Also couldn’t give me anyones contact details today to contact. Maybe you should get her to take her ear pods out of her ears and teacher her to fix these customers issues.

Negative experience: They say in the monthly subscription, last month is free when you decide to opt out. However, I have had 3 fortnighly debits already on my card even after walking in and getting my membership cancelled at the home club.
Fantastic experience: Am a huge fan of the goodlife franchise with the 24 hr access to all clubs @ $30 a week this is stupidly cool... This is my personal Favourite of the franchise so far... A little bit further away from home but best spot to kill a couple hours and get pretty for a night out.... Parking and facilities are emaculate... Has a boxing area (some don't) ... Perfect spot to kill a couple hours and get ready for a night out

Don’t recommend signing up here the gym staff are awful they do not greet you, and they show no respect at all to all members, I recently went to the gym and there was a young staff lady with dark curly hair that made me feel really uncomfortable and spoke to me with such disrespect. Matter in face all staff there are completely rude never had a good experience while being there

Negative experience: Regrettably, after a membership was agreed with no joining fee - a joining fee was deducted from my account. Contacted club on 29 April who said they would refund the joining taken in error. After 15 days and ten emails (mostly without reply) no action has been taken to refund monies taken in error. If you intend to become a member, make sure they do not take your money in ‘error’ - because it is a nightmare dealing with them when it comes to money. Leaves me with the feeling that they operate on the belief that if they ignore you long enough that you’ll go away and they’ll keep your money. An unbelievable amount of my time and effort wasted because a complete lack of interest and care shown by the club.

Positive experience: It's a satisfactory gym, but there are always machines broken-down that take too long to be fixed. Same goes with the lockers, seems like they are often u/s and alot of them have locks broken off.
Positive experience: Staff are always ready to help if there are any problems. They follow up quickly.
Negative experience: Not super impressed with this gym. Have been charged ~$100 after cancelling my 5 day free trial on day 3. I was told the club manager would contact me to ensure no payment was made, but never heard from anyone and am now chasing up charges on my credit card. This club definitely pushes the hard sell on memberships and exactly fit the stereotype of gyms that lock you in to payments you can't get out of. Be very sure you're ready to commit to a membership before approaching this gym.
Negative experience: Karushka Naidoo the clubs customer service manager is so rude and unprofessional, has absolutely no mannerism when discussing membership cancellations. For someone who’s role is to deal with customers she needs training on how to speak to people whether it is a conflict of interest topic. Belittled me and was trying to make me feel stupid. Laughed when I mentioned I would like to speak to someone higher up or speak with head office, telling me that head office send complaints back to her and she believes the matter is resolved so I’m wasting my time by trying to get help from higher up. I really hope no one has to deal with her and be made feel how she made me feel.
Fantastic experience: I returned to the Gym yesterday after the COVID absense and was surprised to see how great the facilities look. All of the equipment looked fresh and clean. The friendly staff made me feel comfortable upon arrival and one even remendered me from last visit in July. Great atmosphere and experience.
Positive experience: Nice and compact gym. You can get your workout done. Really like the bathrooms, very spacious and clean.

Negative experience: I have been contacting them for several days , i visited four times for the after hours access card but there is no action. The receptionist kept on talking for more than 15 minutes and did not bother to even see me.

Fantastic experience: I've just joined Goodlife Essendon transferring from another gym, I love this Gym, The environment and staff are amazing and they are all super welcoming. The gyms clean and accessible and there's a decent range of equipment, but mainly the staff are amazing I actually signed up to PT sessions with Chantelle with the help of Vanessa she matched us perfectly. highly recommend for the environment alone the nice gym is just a bonus.

Negative experience: Terrible gym, even worse management do not lock into some ridiculous $20 a week contract here where toilets are never cleaned, hand soap/sanitizer is never filled there’s no hand towels, machines are constantly broken and never fixed. Don’t waste your time here

Negative experience: Disorganised, dirty, most of the weights placed in wrong spot, poor spacing between equipment, didn't enjoy being there
Negative experience: Absolute parasites, Refuse to honour contracts/cancellations and will attempt to bill and threaten you over a year later. Steer well clear and do not sign anything or believe anything this useless gym offers you.

Positive experience: I’ve been a member for nearly ten years now and I was genuinely very disappointed. My friend drove all the way to my gym at Goodlife Essendon to do an Arena Fitness class as it was not blocked off on the public holiday and online the class was available. After booking the session the day before we arrived to the class to find out it wasn’t running and no trainer had rocked up, no notice in advance was listed online either. As someone recommending this gym and the fitness class to a friend, it was embarrassing to make her come along to such disappointment. The classes must be blocked off on days that it is unavailable to stop such an inconvenience in the future. Im rating the gym 3 stars because the receptionist who received my feedback was genuinely lovely and I appreciated that even though I was not impressed.
Fantastic experience: Good selection of equipment, friendly staff, patrons keep to themselves but friendly enough.
Negative experience: Very dodgy business model! Every member is on a different rate and they're never clear on the prices! They'll over charge so keep an eye on the charges! The reps get commission on every new signup.
Positive experience: Large, well equipped and well lit gym with decent facilities. It gets really busy on weeknights though.
Fantastic experience: Very clean place and good machines for training
Negative experience: They are Theives, just money ripper as you once enter into contract, you are gone. Haven't use service from last 11 month and paying 16 something every week. Be aware, don't know how many people getting robbed.
Positive experience: Great equipment. Classes can be a bit repetitive. Could do with changing the timetable up every so often

Fantastic experience: This gym is getting a fair bit busier but it has plenty of equipment, just try to workout during off peak times.
Negative experience: I wouldn't rate this place very highly. Staff friendliness varies greatly. Some are ok, some are just very rude when they are in a bad mood. There are quite abit of equipment but at the same time it can still be a challenge to use some machines because there are quite a few people in the gym. This is even before peak hour begins. After using it for a while I don't feel any urge to really come back to this gym anytime soon. I'm glad I had a trial run before I committed to a contract. From the reviews here it seems like Good Life is very good at debiting their customers who have already cancelled their membership. Of course I am only speculating but reading these comments doesn't reassure me any more. In fact it has made me even more cautious of ever joining as a paid member. Unless Good Life can change customer perspective and entirely transform their reputation in treating their customers with more respect, in terms of their wallet, then it is highly unlikely my perspective of Good Life would ever change. So if Good Life wants to gain serious market share in this competitive industry, they probably want to get back into the boardroom and begin a 'customer focus' campaign project for months and years to come In reply to the GoodLife below: I didn't base my review PURELY on reviews on here. I don't think I also need to be on a membership to review. Anyone who comes through your doors is qualified to review. I based my review on my experience. Not on reviews on here. I think this also highlights how bad Good life PR is as well. Trying to discredit bad reviews and refusing to accept their mistakes. If GoodLife continues in this spirit, I only encourage others to look elsewhere other than GoodLife. I don't condone GoodLife's PR methodologies. If I could, I would offer 0 star out of 5 instead of 1.

It is disappointing to see you are leaving a 1 due to the other comments you have read, and not basing it on the membership you just trialled; that being said, feedback is feedback and a way we can improve. If you are being discouraged training due to feedback, others are too. In the new financial year the club will see a bit of a face lift, getting a new Club Manager and we have taken on your advise with the staff and the current customer service. We can see some really great change coming and that wouldn't be possible without members like you, helping us with reviews, feedback and wanting us to be the best we can be. Negative experience: I wouldn’t call this place a club, stinky toilets , weights left all over floor with no clean up. Leaving for good.

Negative experience: DO NOT sign up. As many of the other reviews have said already, this Goodlife will promise you deals and never deliver. They also promise call backs AND NEVER call back. They're cheaters who are just another gym trying to overload the place with as many members for monetary purposes. Luckily Australian consumer law covers my side.
Positive experience: Very good gym. But if you are being signed up by Katherine be careful she would lie to your face and tell could do a better price and would go on to say she doesn't remember so the best thing get everything in writing in an email. Don't trust her. Same with the customer relationship manager Matthew they are not helpful at all after you sign up. I had to go through the head office to get things sorted.
